How I Did on my Fall Bucket List & Sharing My Winter Bucket List

Since tomorrow is the official first day of winter it's time to share how I did with my fall bucket list for this year and start working on my winter bucket list!

Here's how I did with my fall bucket list:

Break out my puzzles again and work on a few-- Check!

Celebrate Evan's birthday-- Check!

Go to the 21 Pilots Concert-- Check!

Go to the movies-- Nope, there just wasn't anything I really wanted to see.

Go on lots of hikes-- Check!

Pick apples and make apple pie-- 1/2 a check! I made apple pies from orchard fresh apples but I just picked them up rather than picking them myself. (our favorite kinds of apple aren't available as a U-pick option anyway)

Decorate the house for fall-- Check!

Burn some fall scented candles/melts
-- Check!

Make a new Spotify playlist -- Check!

Find some good books to enjoy- Check!

Books I read in October

Work on another couple of paintings/art projects-- Check!

Find a fun way to celebrate my husband's birthday!-- Check! We went to the Black Dog; just the two of us.

Send Alec a couple of care packages-- 1/2 a check! I only sent one since he was home most of October and part of November.

Enjoy parents' weekend at Alec's college with him-- Check!

Try some new fall recipes-- Check! We've actually been trying out lots of new recipes!

a zucchini and corn casserole with breadcrumbs and cheeses

  8. What a fun idea to make seasonal lists. Your Fall was full to the brim. I always feel like December is winter before it really is on the calendar! You have a fun time in Hawaii to look forward to in the Winter, nice! I love your purple door! Merry Christmas to you and yours!

    1. Yes, I always feel like December is winter too since we almost always have some cold weather and snow by then.

  9. Well you did fabulous on your fall bucket list! And OMG, you have a place called the Black Dog?! That is the title of one of Taylor Swift's new songs (and an old Led Zeppelin song - hehe) so I Olivia and I would love to be able to go to a place with that name! So fun!

  10. You did great on checking things off that fall list! I also love your winter bucket list. You've inspired me to write a bonus blog post today! I'm off to do that now!

  11. Its good to write these things down and then it feels so good to have done them. I'm always saying, if I don't write it down, it doesn't happen.
I love doing jigsaw puzzles, but I can't have them in my house because I get so addicted and then I'll spend all day on it. But the place we take some of our workout classes has one always going. So it's nice to go early.Work on it a little that way.

    1. Exactly! I need it written down so I can make sure to cross it off; especially in winter when I tend to lose a lot of my motivation to do much of anything. I tend to only work on puzzles for 2 days a time until they are done and then I don't let myself work on any again for at least 2 weeks.

  19. You managed a lot this fall, fun-family-food...my favorite things! I like your winter list. I haven't made one yet but plan to. I am also considering a 25 in 15 list so need to decide which way to go. I feel like I do better with the seasonal to-dos as opposed to a whole year. Have a wonderful holiday!

    1. I do better with smaller chunks of time too; I work well with a deadline.

  20. You did very well on your fall list. Bravo!! Always love to see what you guys are eating - desserts, especially - and that Heath cheesecake looks positively sinful. But oh, so good. Interested in your recipes for the veggie casserole and the orange chicken. I just cannot think of anything to cook these days and have little energy to even make a sandwich!!

So impressed with your painting. I enjoyed painting with a gal at Over the Artsy Moon. You might check it out. However, you are doing beautifully painting on your own. I have a photo of 2 grandbabies I want to paint but I have ZERO confidence in my abilities. And need to have a few quiet days at home to do things like painting!!

Love the idea of reading by the fireplace. It really is the simple things. I always enjoy seeing your pics of breakfast with a book on the patio near the lake. Are you planning to start scrapbooking your Hawaiian vacay right away? Good for you!! I bet there is a lot of pretty paper to use for scrapping pictures from Hawaii. I am all over the place with my scrapbooking. Have decided to start combining and scrapping all of our Nutcracker ballet pictures from 3 years time all together. And scrapping only a select few very special photos from holidays rather than pictures of every single gift, etc. Just not enough time to get it all done!!

Can't wait to see pictures from your trip. Enjoy every precious moment and make so many wonderful memories. Happy 2025!!

    1. Aw, thank you! I have a really hard time painting people but I do enjoy painting landscapes and nature. I was planning to start scrapping right away but oh wow-- between Evan and I taking photos I think I have well over a thousand that need developing! I always pick just a few of the very best to scrapbook but do tend to use different photos for each person's page.
