10 on the 10th for October 2023

I was going to skip this month's 10 on the 10th but Marsha's questions were just too fun and funny not to so I decided to have a double post day!

1. Ewww.. if I had to pick I guess I'd say creamed corn because the smell of pumpkin innards literally makes me gag. I was thrilled when my boys were old enough to carve their own pumpkins end even more when all 3 decided they didn't really like it either and wanted to stop that tradition entirely. Though they did a great job when they did carve!

2. I guess dance with a scarecrow since I don't know how to play poker but after years of dance lessons I do know how to dance.

3. While these are both delicious options that I enjoy I'd pick a caramel apple over a pumpkin muffin most of the time (unless I was craving pumpkin or cream cheese frosting)... but please just don't make me choose and give me one each! YUM.

We've made our own gourmet caramel apples a time or two (recipe here)

4.  Oh I hate costumes so my gut reaction is neither! But I guess if I had to pick I'd say clown; hopefully I could at least make a few people smile.

5. We used to rake leaves every single fall and while it was a weekend I usually dreaded we did make the best of it with the help of the boys. But, IF I'm going to toast marshmallows (which is highly unlikely since I don't like marshmallows) I like them completely burnt so I'd pick burning marshmallows.

6. I love cinnamon and always have cinnamon candles and scents in our house; even many of my favorite lotions have some cinnamon in them so I pick cinnamon for sure.

7. I am a huge chicken so my immediate thought is neither... but if I had to pick I'd day movie because at least I could just cover my eyes and snuggle up with a blanket and some yummy snacks.

8.  Again; I am a big chicken and easily scared so I'd say neither though my best friend did live next door to a cemetery and we often went there at night so I think I could handle sleeping in one.

9. Apple crisp! I have this delicious and favorite recipe I make each season. (I have never liked pumpkin pie)

10. Apple pie contestant all the way (since as mentioned above I do not like carving pumpkins).  My boys have done a few pie eating contests and it looks rather fun...

Ian came in first for his age group

Alec came in second for his age group

But the best was Evan; his plate kept getting away from him!

  2. Fun to read! The apple crisp recipe looks good. I´m with you- I don´t find pumpkin pie all that enticing but I love apple crisp and apple pie.

  4. I'm a huge chicken too so I wouldn't know how to answer that one!
I'm guessing you don't eat pumpkin pie for thanksgiving either. Lol!

    1. Nope, but I have made it several times for other family members to enjoy. It is a nice easy pie to make and I wish I liked it but the texture just ruins it for me.

  5. Cool looking pumpkins! I'd go for the caramel apple with nuts :) A fav around here this time of the year. Yes, burnt marshmallows, the only way to eat them but I don't eat sugar these days. Yes, cinnamon but just a touch. I like apple candles with a bit of cinnamon but not too overpowering. I'd be up for the movie or hunting, either sounds good to me :) I'd say the house as I don't like sleeping outside unless it's nice and comfy. We actually have a visit planned to spend a night in a haunted cabin with hubby's brother and brother's wife. That should be interesting!! Apple crisp for sure!! I'd choose pumpkin carving. I have seen some very intricate carving, those folks are really good at it!! Thanks so much for linking up at the #UnlimitedLinkParty 133. Pinned.

    1. Caramel apples with nuts are good too! I am not usually one for sleeping outdoors either but I have a hard enough time sleeping in new places with odd sounds without my overactive imagination kicking in knowing I was sleeping in a haunted house. LOL

  6. That was a fun set of questions - and I must say that apple crumble (your apple crisp) is my absolute favourite desert - I'd choose it over anything pumpkin too!

  8. Joanne, you have the best answers! I don't like the smell of pumpkin innards either, but I dislike creamed corn even more. That's kind of weird because that's the only kind of corn I don't like. And, a big nope for pumpkin pie for me, too! I will have to try your apple crisp dessert. I'm so glad you joined in on the fun!
