Favorite Musicals

 For today's list I stuck to movies that are not animated (as I have a favorite animated movie post I'm currently working on putting together).  The list is a bit shorter than my other favorite movie lists since I don't watch nearly as many musicals but each of these movies I have watched over and over again until I know nearly every word to most of the songs!

    Oh this was SO FUN to read and right my alley! Love West Side Story and Grease oh and Mama Mia and Wizard of Oz AND Greatest Showman AND Annie...well maybe your whole list. I would add Guys and Dolls, Cabaret, Oklahoma, A Chorus Line

    Oh how I loved this. I LOVE MUSICALS! We saw Mama Mia in London and it was so good. Sound of Music and Grease Are my favs.

    I have not seen nearly all of these but I will probably add several of them to my, "to watch" list. Some of them that I've seen, I've not seen in years.

      I find that once I watch them the songs are stuck in my head for weeks (and I love it!).

      Alec is the only other person in this house that will even listen/watch musicals with me and he's pretty selective on which ones he's willing to sit through.

    It's really funny because I love Broadway musicals, but I really don't like movie musicals. I've seen Mamma Mia, The Wizard of Oz, Pitch Perfect, and Sister Act. But, I will watch The Phantom of the Opera over and over and over!

    Your List is my list along with Saturday Night Fever, Dirty Dancing and My Fair Lady!! I love Musicals as I love music!! I still have to watch the new Mary Poppins movie. I wish I still had the Mary Poppins doll that my mother bought me after I saw the movie!! I do have the original albums of Sound of Music and Mary Poppins!! Thanks so much for sharing as it brought back a lot of happy memories!! I also saw Grease on Broadway when I was 20 years old and then the movie came out shortly thereafter!       I didn't think of Dirty Dancing but I do love that movie! I haven't seen Saturday Night Fever or My Fair Lady though.

    Oh I love lots of these too! Especially Grease, Mary Poppins and The Greatest Showman! I remember watching Cry-Baby with Johnny Depp as well.

      I have always wanted to see Les Mis on Broadway and while I know all the tunes by heart I hadn't even realized it was a movie until I was reading a blog just the other week when they mentioned watching it with their friend!

Friday Favorites: Girls Trip to Nashville Days 1 & 2

By far my favorite part of the week was my girl's trip to the Nashville/Franklin area of Tennessee!  Last Friday I landed in Nashville, Tennessee around 3 pm after an easy morning commute and flight (made so easy because I had no car and my mom drove me to the airport dropping me off curbside). I was meeting up with some blogging friends in real life:  Marilyn from Memphis Bridges,   Jennifer from Overflowing with Thankfulness,  and Tanya from The Other Side of the Road.   By the time I had even picked up my bags I had gotten a text from Marilyn and Jennifer that they were parking the car.  We met up in baggage claim and they had made the cutest welcome sigh for both me and Tanya.  We had a few minutes before meeting up with Tanya and then headed to our rental house in Franklin.  It was adorable and in a lovely little quiet area.  Tanya brought a cute little gift bag of goodies for each of us; seriously these ladies are just the sweetest and I am so, so glad I decided to fly off

Day in the Life: Friday Favorites

 I decided to document last Friday for today's Friday Favorites post. I hardly ever document a day in the life anymore now that my boys are grown and mostly on their own. But I knew we had a pretty full day and thought it might be fun.  These are some of my favorite posts to read and I think I did a pretty great job remembering to document and take pictures for the whole day! 5:00 wake up and I allow myself to blog, read emails, etc. until 5:30 5:30 get up, get dressed for the gym, put away my laundry from the night before, make the bed. 5:45 head downstairs to make Alec's lunch (1/2 way though he came to the balcony to tell me he wasn't going to school since he wasn't feeling well-- he's 18 and allowed to make this call himself).  I decided to make a salad, some chicken salad, hard boil some eggs, and cut up all the fruit since we had just done groceries after dinner last night and none of that had been done yet. I emptied, reloaded, and restarted the dishwasher.

Favorite TV Shows Growing Up in the 80's and early 90's

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. And through the years I had SO MANY favorites! Growing pains aired in 1985 which put me around age 8 and it stayed on the air until I was 15 or so; I'm pretty sure most people in my age group watched mostly for Kirk Cameron and all his antics.  I still have a soft spot for family sit-coms!  The Facts of Life aired when I was just 2  and stayed on the air until I was 11 so I'm sure the episodes I remember so fondly were either some of the later ones and then reruns shown later on when I was old enough to watch from the beginning.
