This month for the currently series with Jennifer from Overflowing with Thankfulness we're talking about thing we're loving, feeling, posting, receiving and seeing.
Loving-- I found a few "new" snacks at my grocery store this week that I'm really enjoying. While I've always liked the Weight Watcher's string cheese I find they don't have a lot of flavor so these low cal. sharp cheddar cheese pieces are fabulous. I actually like them paired with the pumpernickel pretzels but will eat both these snacks alone too (or with veggies).
Feeling-- Proud! Alec has yet another semester of straight A's. Something I'm sure that can't be as easy as he makes it looks with all honors classes. In his 2.5 years in "real" school he has yet to get a single report card grade under a 90 (and those from 90-93 really make him angry since a huge majority of them have been 100's! LOL). I don't know how this homeschooling kid got so grade oriented since I never gave grades but I love seeing how hard he works. (We do remind him all the time that A's & B's are fine but he's determined that we're wrong).
Receiving-- We FINALLY received our check from the insurance company and can start fixing our solar panel that got blown over in the December storm.
Seeing-- The sunshine!! We see sun so rarely this time of year; it's always gray and dreary and either rainy or snowy so getting to see the blue sky and sunshine several days in a row was a real treat for us.
That cheese! I will have to look for it! I am so glad you got your insurance money. Why does it take so long? Congrats to Alec! He seems to be really thriving!
ReplyDeleteIt is so flavorful; I'm liking that cheese waay more than the WW string cheese. Alec definitely seems to be thriving at his school.
DeleteI can see how a few days of sunshine would be noteworthy! We've not had that in a long time ;(. Congrats to Alec!! That is a wonderful accomplishment. I feel like my kids put more pressure on them than my husband and I do! Abby just made the dean's list at college. She was disappointed that she didn't make the president's list like she did the semester before. (I just want her to keep her scholarship which she will easily do if she continues to make the dean's list, lol.)
ReplyDeleteYes, Alec definitely puts more pressure on himself and I'm always trying to reassure him that anything above passing is a good grade and won't really matter in the long run.
DeleteSo glad are seeing the sun a little bit! It is always a good day when I find low-fat cheese. It is one of my weaknesses.
ReplyDeleteI just about convinced myself that I don't like cheese or need it in anymore... but I'm so glad I tried this one! It comes in shredded form too for cooking.
DeleteThat's awesome about straight A's. You should feel proud of yourself too! Yay for sunshine! I am so happy when we see it. I love those pumpernickel pretzels and those cheese snacks are great too.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'd love to take credit for his grades but he's always been one that just loves to learn.
DeleteGreat job on the grades - Gabbie has been the same, all As even after switching schools. She's kind of set the bar high for the other kids!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, Alec has always set a really high bar that his brothers couldn't care less about reaching. LOL
DeleteThat is awesome news on your sons straight A's. The snacks look good and I love your photos of the water and nature. I hope you have a nice day.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Alec! I know you're a proud mom, and rightfully so! I love seeing our sons/daughters thrive in life and in whatever it is they're doing. I am like you and LOVE seeing sunshine after dreary weather and rain. It's very rainy/icy/dreary here this week, so I am counting the days until the sunshine is back out in full force. Have a great day, Joanne and happy February!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you! I do love seeing my kids thriving. It's supposed to be in the negatives this weekend so I'm just trying to soak up any warmth I can in the meantime.
DeleteCongrats to Alec on straight A's...that's amazing!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Alec on the fantastic grades! It's funny because our oldest son suddenly because totally focused on perfect attendance, arriving early, starting assignments as soon as they were given, and straight A+s when he got to broadcast school. Twelve years of homeschool before that where he really was unmotivated. LOL Visiting from Currently
ReplyDeleteRight?! I feel like my kids had no idea what grades even were and I was lucky if I could get them to do the assignments never mind try their absolute best at them. LOL. I love that both my boys are willing to put in the work and do well at school.
DeleteIt's good when you find a new snack. I love the sound of those pumpernickle pretzels.
ReplyDeleteWell done to Alec, you have every reason to be proud, it sounds like he's doing great. x
Aw, thank you!
DeleteWay to go for your son and his awesome grades! That takes a lot of work! And glad your insurance check finally came through. That can be such a frustrating process. Love the photos you took!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteCongratulations to Alec! They are some very amazing results!! I'm so glad that you got your cheque from the insurance company. You must be so relieved to get that out of the way.

Yes, we really are!
DeleteWay to go Alec! Those pretzels sound so good.
ReplyDeleteThanks! They are a nice change from traditional pretzels.
DeleteEveryone around here has been sooooo happy with the little glimpses of sun we've been getting this week. And YAY for finally getting the insurance check! That's a big celebration!!!
ReplyDeleteYes!
DeleteThat's great that Alec is doing so well in school! I was extremely grade-oriented when I was younger, so B's would not have been okay to me either, haha. But now I see how debilitating that mindset actually was. You guys are good to remind him that everything doesn't have to be perfect all the time!
ReplyDeleteI was too! I always got all A's and B's and stressed myself out over them too; I had major test anxiety and always thought for sure I failed. I hated that I was so obsessed and that it would literally freeze me up so I've always tried to keep it real with my boys; explaining that grades aren't everything and they should just try their best.
DeleteYay for sunshine! We finally got some too this weekend and it has been such a blessing!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like we'll have a mostly sunny week this week and I am so excited!
