What's Up Wednesday: December Edition

I'm sharing my What's Up Wednesday wrap up even though I know that Sheaffer and Shay often take the week off from blogging between Christmas & New Years but I like to look back at these posts anyway so I hope you don't mind.

What We're Eating This Week:

Sunday-- We had our Christmas brunch in the morning and my mother in law hosted Christmas dinner

Monday-- Turkey pot pie (fend for yourself for anyone that doesn't eat it)

Tuesday-- Shrimp and chicken stir-fry over rice

Wednesday-- Alfredo pasta (with spaghetti and sauce for Alec) & salad

Thursday-- Burger and hot dogs with salad and fries

Friday-- Baked pollock with baked potatoes and broccoli (chicken tenderloins for the younger boys)

Saturday-- Steak, ride pilaf, asparagus (salad for the boys)

What I'm Reminiscing About: Nothing really; I'm too busy living in the moment lately.

What I'm Loving: The chip for my heated seats finally came in for my new car and I am loving having a nice warm ride during these cold winter days!

What We've Been Up To: It's been a pretty quiet month around here; other than buying and wrapping gifts and celebrating Christmas this past weekend we've mostly been out hiking, watching TV/Movies, and just enjoying the quiet dark nights at home.

What I'm Dreading: My step father has a couple surgeries coming up and the risks associated with both have been weighing on all our minds.  Hopefully all will go well and he'll get a clean bill of health afterwards!

What I'm Working On: Nothing much though I have been planning some ideas in my head for a few little home improvement/ organizational ideas.

What I'm Excited About: This is the week I put away all our decorations and start organizing each area of the house.  I love this time of year as I do love to clean out and organize!

What I'm Watching/Reading: Wednesday (Netflix),  Dash & Lily (Netflix),  The Reboot (Hulu), The Glass Onion (Netflix). We finished The White Lotus (HBO), About Fate (Prime), & 1883 (Paramount+), began watching National Treasure (Disney+) & 1923 (Paramount+) as well as the third season of Emily in Paris (Netflix), plus I watched all sorts of Christmas movies and shows and read lots of Christmassy books.

What I'm Listening to: The birds devouring the food from our feeder; we get so many visitors this time of year that I fill up the feeder nearly every day!

What I'm Wearing: Lots and lots of sweaters.

What I'm Doing This Weekend: Ringing in the new year with the family

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month: It's Alec's birthday month and we have tickets to go see Cirque Du Soleil!

What Else is New: Sadly, we had a HUGE windstorm knock down our brand new solar panels... we never even officially had them hooked up to the power grid yet!

It even bend the metal plate holding the pole up!

Linking up with: Wednesdays Link party,

  1. Quiet, dark nights and heated seats are both wonderful ;). It looks like you guys had great family get togethers for Christmas. Too bad about the solar panels. Hopefully they can be reattached.

    1. We're waiting to see what insurance covers cost-wise as to whether or not we put them back up; we have fixed the stand already and were able to salvage a few of the panels but after shelling out all that money and never even having them hooked up it's such a let down. I'm fairly hopeful all will work out in the end though.

  4. We need to start White Lotus, everyone is talking about it! We loved Glass Onion. So sad about your solar panels, those wind storms are vicious! Sarah M. (not anonymous)

    1. We could hear the wind moving them around but I never thought it would be strong enough to blow them over and break all the bolts.

  8. Oh, so sorry to hear about the solar panels. I hope they can be replaced. And hoping all goes well for the upcoming surgeries of your step dad.

  9. Oh, I miss heated seats! They truly are wonderful, aren't they? I hope you can use your solar panels. That wind was awful! We watched The Glass Onion and really enjoyed it though the ending was a little strange. We liked the first season of The White Lotus but just couldn't get into the second one. I hope all goes well for your stepfather.

    1. I'm supposed to get a heated steering wheel eventually too and I'm pretty excited about that as well. It took me longer to get into the second season of The White Lotus but I eventually did... and hated the ending! LOL. His first surgery is tomorrow and we're all really hopeful he'll be feeling better real soon. Thank you.

  11. I want to watch The Glass Onion but I'm waiting until things slow down a bit and I can watch it with my hubby. Your tree looks beautiful! And it seems like you had a wonderful holiday time. I hope everything goes well with your step father!

  12. Oh man, I'm so sorry about your solar panels. I can't believe that! That must've been some crazy wind to knock down those big ol' things!

    1. Ugh! It was nuts. We did manage to salvage a few of them and the solar company we worked with is already ordering us some new ones.
