Dressing for a Fall Event with Ageless Style
This month the Ageless style group is discussing what we'd wear to a fall event. The theme was picked by Cathy and I was pretty excited to see how open ended it was.
I love fall but we rarely have any events to go to this time of year... so I decided to showcase my Thanksgiving outfit. This sweater and my jeans are ones I wore last Thanksgiving and in all honesty is probably what I'll wear again this year. Since we only invite my mother in law and my parents over our Thanksgiving is pretty casual. I like to be comfy while I cook but still look somewhat festive.
I paired this sweater with my favorite black jeggings (I do size up in jeggings and bought a large) and some comfy boots I bought years ago at JC Penney.
Linking up with: On the Edge, As you can see it doubles pretty well as a hiking outfit too!

I love all the colours on your jumper and they really scream Autumn! They are actually all my favourite colours and the ones that I tend to wear the most. They jumper goes so well with your jeggings and boots. Perfect for Thanksgiving!

Thank you! I actually don't own much in fall colors as I tend to stick to tones of blue and green.
DeleteThe colors are very pretty! Yes, a perfect outfit for a fall get together or to hike. I do like the concept of jeggings rather than leggings. A little more structure for form fitting clothes is best, I think, once you're past age ten (though I do wear leggings for very casual outings).
ReplyDeleteThank you! I often wear leggings too but this fall I am finding myself reaching for my jeggings more and more often.
DeleteLOVE that sweater :)
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeletePerfect! I love how the boots pick up the brown of the sweater and the added necklace is very pretty! My Thanksgiving outfit is always unconventional since we have been spending Thanksgiving at the beach the last 5 years or so.

That must be lovely! I love that tradition of yours. Sadly the beach is much too far for us to ever mimic your tradition.
DeleteCute outfit! No telling what the weather will do here - likely warm so I will wear my standard: tunic over capri leggings with my moccasin houseshoes (:
ReplyDeleteOur weather is almost always cold enough for fires in the fireplace and lots of layers by the end of November.
DeleteI was wondering if I could get away with re-wearing the same shirt I wore last Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteI figure why not?! It will become my new "Thanksgiving sweater"
DeleteThe sweater is so pretty for fall! Loving all the earthy tones and the long necklace is a perfect finishing touch to make it festive yet still casual enough for the occasion.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteYou have the perfect casual Thanksgiving outfit! I love the colors!
ReplyDeleteAnd your photos are beautiful.
Thanks for sharing the fall foliage with us Floridians.
Rosemary
Oh you're welcome! We have fall foliage in abundance and I'm more than happy to share.
DeleteWhat a great look!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteLove the rich fall colors of that sweater, and it looks really good with black!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteThis is my kind of Thanksgiving outfit, Joanne! Cute, cozy, and comfortable! This year it will be the four of us and my sister, her husband, and their oldest grandchild. I’m so excited to see them!

Yes! If I have to cook I want to be cozy and comfortable; especially since we end our day with a family movie.
DeleteVery pretty! I love the autumn colors in your sweater. I do all the cooking for Thanksgiving, so comfort and short or three quarter sleeves are what I look for that day as my hands are in water a lot.
ReplyDeleteI do all the cooking too so I have learned to make sure I don't have anything with bell sleeves or things like that that get in the way.
DeleteYou and Amy are some pretty well dressed hikers. I would be embarrassed for you gals to see how I dress!!
ReplyDeleteLove this look. I like the sweater very much and the way you paired black leggings with brown boots. For the longest time, I was all about matchy-matchy to a fault. And still can be inclined that way. But I have come to really like brown and black together. And love white and cream together, too. A big stretch for me.
You have the most beautiful places to hike. We are going to be in Boston in a week and I am so excited. Wish we could get out into the woods for a walk if not a hike. But I don't see that happening. PC is all about visiting the historic sites - I enjoy that, too, but grew up there and have seen them all - maybe we can find a trail Paul Revere hiked and visit it?
LOL! I don't always hike in outfits like this.
DeleteOh yes, the freedom trail is wonderful!!... very long with lots of historical stops along the way. If you start in the Boston Common there are usually all sorts of tours and pamphlets, etc. We grabbed a pamphlet and did our own tour with the boys with one year. The trail is a literal red line you follow through the city so it's easy to follow without getting lost and the pamphlet told us just enough about each stop so we could decide if we wanted to go in or not. We stopped at about 1/2 of them and it still took us a full day and I think we stopped at the USS Constitution not even making it all the way to the end at Bunker Hill. Not really a nature walk hike but still a great way to compromise!
That sweater looks so soft and pretty. Missing you over on iSpy. CarolG
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you!
DeleteWe tend to have a small gathering for T-Day too, yet I never miss an opportunity to dress up, haha!! Yet I love this sweater and you look so fall ready,

We used to have a huge Thanksgiving and I always bought a special outfit for it but spent so much time in the kitchen I never found time to change into it! LOL. Then a few years ago we downsized to just a few really close family members and it's been pretty darn casual ever since.
DeleteI like the sweater and the jeggings Joanne. They look comfortable and perfect to wear for fall and Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteWhat a pretty sweater!!! The colors of FALL!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteThat sweater is so pretty! And that is the perfect Thanksgiving outfit. We are casual too!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteOur Thanksgiving is very small, too...just ten of us if everyone comes. I dress up a bit but not a lot. I really like the striped sweater and the comfy looking boots!

If everyone comes we'll have 8 this year; it's a far cry from the 20+ we used to host!
DeleteSpring and summer are my favourite seasons, but fall clothing is the best. Such beautiful colours.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree! I love my cozy sweaters.. but even they are not enough for winter.
DeleteThat is the prettiest Thanksgiving outfit! The colors and style are perfect.
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you!
DeleteLove this outfit! I recently also bought a very similar sweater that I am totally loving. You look great.
