This or That Harry Potter Edition (With LOTS of old photos!)

I figured since we were spending 1/2 our vacation in Disney and 1/2 in Universal Studios I should do up a fun post all about Harry Potter much like my Disney This or That from last week.  Now, while my boys have been to Disney multiple times we've only made it to Universal Studios one other time so I might not have quite so many photos but we are HUGE Harry Potter fans and spent most of our time in the Wizarding World.

I found this fun This or That on Pinterest (here) and thought it would work well.

For me it will always be Albus Dumbledore and his one liner wisdom/ observations.

I am not brave enough to try the every flavor beans but we did love butterbeer (some of us preferred frozen some of us preferred regular).  We all loved Honeydukes!

We love Harry Potter and all of his friends but without Harry there wouldn't be a book or a park.  Evan made the cutest (blonde!) Harry Potter one Halloween.

Hogwarts sound like so much to explore and I've always fantasized about what it would be like to live in a castle. On our last trip to Universal the younger two boys were too little for many of the rides but we still walked through the castle just to see it!

Mandrakes in the greenhouses!

Diagon alley was lots of fun too; in fact, Ian got picked for the wand ceremony at Ollivanders! Then they spent the rest of the day casting spells all around "the world."

I am not a huge animal fan so I would pick patronus but I'm pretty sure my boys would pick animagus. Much like Hagrid they tend to have a soft spot for mythical creatures and animals.

Hagrid's hut

Buckbeak

flight of the Hippogriff

I picked Gryffindor and Ravenclaw since my boys and I have tried many Harry Potter sorts and those are the two houses we tend to get sorted into!

I picked Hermione's bas since I'm still searching for the perfect bag (well, perfect parks bag anyway!-- I want one small enough to wear without getting in the way but that will also hold our ponchos and sunscreen/sunglasses).  Alec and I even wear our ponchos on any water rides.

Hogsmeade was lots of fun too!

While we spent most of our time in the Wizarding world we did check out other parts of the park too.

We actually had to leave The Lost Continent before it really got started as one (or both?) of the boys got scared and started to cry; a guide led us out a side door

The Suess train was more their speed.

We still talk about the thunderstorm that shut down the Transformers ride (mid-ride) and our run through the park where both Alec and I lost a flip flop in a puddle stream and had to go chasing after it.

  8. OMG, how fun were these photos. One time we went into a scary ride in CA, and as walking through to the line, a character jumped out and scared the bejeezus out of me. I said no way, and headed out instead of continuing on the ride!! Just call me wimp.

    1. LOL! I feel the same way; it's a huge reason why I hate haunted trails or anything Halloween themed. I was scared much too often as a kid with people jumping out of the dark.

  9. Oh, what a fun place! If I ever make it to Florida again, I'm definitely going! I love Harry Potter books and how that ignited a love of reading in so many kids!!
