Disney This or That (With LOTS of Old Disney Photos from Our Trips)

I was all out of posting ideas for today when I saw this adorable Disney This or That and with our trip to Disney/ Universal coming up soon I thought this would be so fun (please play along and tell me some of your answers in the comments!)

I also have lots of old Disney photos in this post! Enjoy.

(This was created by @mar6lene for Twitter but I found it Here on Pinterest)

And here are my answers:

Living on the East coast I've only been to Walt Disney World.

While I love ALL the characters I am a classic Mickey fan.

We love Minnie too though!

While I don't really enjoy getting wet, I do find that I much prefer Splash Mountain over Space Mountain (in fact we have zero plans to ride Space Mountain at all this trip).

I don't mind the Tower of Terror but I LOVE the Rock N Roller coaster!  Between the speeds, the awesome music and all the loops it's my favorite coaster in Disney (running a close second behind Everest).

When I think "Disney" I immediately picture Fantasy Land and all the classic rides, the castle, etc. To me Disney IS the Magic Kingdom and Fantasy Land (even though with two teenage boys I'm betting we skip most of Fantasy land this go round).

All my boys were first introduced to roller coasters with the Barnstormer

Donald Duck is probably the one Disney Character I've never been a huge fan of; though that hasn't stopped us from taking photos with him! LOL.

Goofy, though has always been one of my favorites.  I still vividly remember staying at a Disney campground when I was maybe 6 or 7 with my grandparents when Goofy came waterskiing by then up on to the sand to interact everyone and I told him he had sand on his nose that he then wiped off and smeared onto mine.  He's always been that silly character that makes me laugh.  Thought we love Pluto too.

I had to pick Frontierland as no trip to Disney has ever been complete without at least one trip on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and the Haunted Mansion.  My boys were also huge fans of Tom Sawyer's Island.

While we are fans of all things Disney related I'd definitely say we are more classic Disney. In fact on our first trip Evan was terrified of all characters EXCEPT for "no White" and "Chip!"  Both of whom he yelled out their names and ran right over to.

Evan much preferred statues that first year

Ian was always up for meeting any character in any park!

A few other random favorites:

Alec, my chef in training, was honing his culinary skills long before he started cooking. Here he's rating all the items on his plate and giving them a thumbs up or down.

What? Your kids don't wear goggles on their head when walking around a park?

For a few years Alec was obsessed with Ariel's fins

Alec was also a huge fan of Pocahontas and watched the movie endlessly

My mother in law has been on all but 1 or 2 Disney trips with us

Alec often elected to sit out rides since he didn't like anything dark, or scary, or fast moving and my mother in law always offered to stay with him. But one trip she really wanted to rides Pirates of the Caribbean and we convinced him to just play his DS on the ride and not look up (we asked the ride attendant to seat us in the back seats of  boat and explained Alec was nervous and wanted to play his video game instead-- they happily accommodated us and assured us the light from his screen would not disturb anyone).

Getting in line for the ride

on the ride; scrunched up in his seat playing!

One of my all time favorite photos-- Alec fighting Darth Vader.. if looks could kill he wouldn't have needed that light saber!

So let's hear it? What are some of your Disney favorites or Disney memories you'd like to share?!

  5. There really are so many reasons to love Disney. Their customer service is like no other too. We went to a class given by Disney about it once, and it's amazing.

    1. They are fantastic; we once lost a camera while staying there (a kid's digital one) on our last day and after we filled out paperwork they not only found it and had it waiting on our doorstep when we arrived back home from the airport but seeing that the kids had no photos on it they took it around our resort taking photos of the staff and key highlights of the resort. The kids thought that was so fun.

  10. My parents actually went to Disney World before it officially opened. I'm not 100% sure how they did that, but I remember Mom being so excited about it. My kids used to go with my mom and my grandma so they've actually been there more than I have. My favorite rides are definitely It's a Small World, the Haunted Mansion, and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (no longer there). I'd have to say my favorite Disney character is Winnie the Pooh and his band o'critters! Loved seeing all of your old pictures, Joanne!

    1. When I was a kid our family went to WDW and my step father rented a huge video recorder; we still have the VHS tape and tease him because he recorded the whole 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea ride!

  16. Oh my goodness these pictures are incredible!!!! You are making me want to go back!! We are also big fans of Tom Sawyer Island here… it’s a hidden gem. It’s usually much less crowded than everywhere else and there is a lot to see and do. The last time we were there, the line for Big Thunder Mountain was well over an hour long so we decided to take the boat over to the island for a bit. The kids played happily for a few hours, we ate, and then when we came back over (6 o’clock ish) the line for Big Thunder Mountain was only 15 minutes. Tom Sawyer Island to the rescue! This is Lauren by the way, not Anonymous 😊
