Recipes We've Been Making

I am constantly on the hunt for new recipes to try and new foods to eat.  I try to pin all my recipes to my Pinterest boards but can't always seem to find them again and never remember what modifications I made as I went along.  I decided a few months ago to keep a running log of all the recipes we've tried with notes about how I prepared each dish and what we thought of it.. thus my new "Recipes We've Been Making" posts have become a way for me to keep track.

I hope you like these rounds up and reviews as much as I do!

1.  I was looking for a new bread recipe to try and gave this Italian bread by All Things Bread a try.  It was pretty easy and everyone loved the bread.  With two small loves we even had a few slices next for the next day.

2.  Alec needed a snack for a school function and decided to make these chocolate orange truffles; they were a huge hit with the family and his friends/teachers at school.  We couldn't find milk chocolate melts though and dunked 1/2 of them in orange colored white chocolate and 1/2 of them in dark chocolate; both were delicious but the dark chocolate ones looked nicer.

3.  We loved these Strawberry muffins from Penny's Passion.  I did add 1 cup of dark chocolate chips though and doubled the recipe. They were gone in just under 48 hours!

4. When I saw Mel's Easy Shrimp Pesto Pasta with Sun-dried Tomatoes I just knew I had to give it a try; we thought it was delicious and super easy to pull together too.

5. This Slow cooker BBQ Chicken recipe by Natasha's Kitchen was a huge hit with the family.  We served it over rice with a side of vegetables.  I tossed all of mine together as a one bowl meal and I just loved it.

6. This delicious pasta primavera by Two Peas & Their Pod was absolutely amazing and I know I'll be making it again and again all summer long! What a delicious way to use up those farm fresh veggies.

7. I feel almost guilty saying we made this Balsamic Baked Chicken Breast with Cheese from Café Delites because I really only loosely followed the amounts given (I did use all the ingredients called for though!).  It was pretty good too though it wasn't a real family favorite. My boys are not fans of cooked tomatoes so I should have realized...

8. I just knew my guys would love these Pulled pork nachos since they seem to devour anything made with pulled pork. We did omit the onion and peppers since my boys don't like them and they were still quite tasty.  I did try a bite too but ate my pulled pork on a low calorie wrap with some salad instead.  My son swears they heated up beautifully the next day too!

9. I wasn't sure what I thought of this Weight Watcher's ramen noodle salad at first.  The noodles were still so crunchy when I served it but I found with just a few small bites that I really liked that crunch!  With only 5 points for a fairly large serving I thought this was a great summer side dish.

10. I had some whole wheat orzo in the cabinet and have been on the lookout for something to make with it when this  Orzo with zucchini and tomato dish caught my eye.  My husband and I were the only ones that ate it since my boys don't like zucchini or cooked tomatoes and while I thought it was good it wasn't something I'd make again without some major modifications as I thought it was rather bland tasting.

11. One of my favorite summer salads was this Asparagus & Strawberry Salad with Balsamic by honest cooking.  (though I did only use 1/2- 3/4 of the dressing called for).  YUM!

12.  I stumbled upon Dorothea's pound cake recipe in one of the books I was reading and thought it would make a perfect base for some homemade strawberry shortcake.  The recipe was easy, rich, and tasted amazing!
