This month's Pinterest challenge was all about fall and I just knew I wanted to create something with flowers. I thought about making another door wreath but wanted to try something a little different. I have so many pumpkin/ flower centerpieces pinned to my pinterest boards and I wondered if I could create something similar that would last year after year.
As much as I love this pin and it's beautiful pumpkin centerpiece I do not like cutting into real pumpkins (I just can't stand the smell!) and while real flowers are just so beautiful I like to have something that lasts longer than a week. So I went to Michael's to see what I could find.
I just loved this adorable wooden pumpkin and thought that with some floral foam and a few faux flowers I could have a really cute centerpiece.
First I cut the foam block to fit in the wooden pumpkin so that it was level with the sides. Then I began putting in my flowers. Starting with the center and working my way evenly outwards.
Once I had my flowers the way I liked them I began working on filling in any gaps and making sure to use filler to block the foam from eye view.
I did use one small bunch of pink flowers I found in my stash to help as filler and just love how it turned out!! Shown below from all 4 sides.
This will be a perfect centerpiece for my fall dining table!

Love the wooden pumpkin container you chose to make this lovely arrangement, JoAnne. You can use it in so many ways for Fall! I'm with you on not using the real thing. I always end up having a mess and worry about them attracting bugs if the pumpkin sits around too long.
Super Cute! I just ordered some faux flowers to play around with from Amazon, I hope they are as cute as yours! So great to use a faux pumpkin too so it will last and last! Jenna

That turned out cute! I don't like using the real pumpkins, either. I decorate so early for Fall that they would be rotten by the time I was done with them!

I know what you mean about cutting into a real pumpkin, even though I don't have a problem eating the cooked vegetable! Your version will last a long time and won't collapse on itself as the season goes on.
Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? Tomorrow is the last Saturday of the month the time for the Share 4 Somethings link up with Jennifer. I really enjoy this cute little wrap up of the month even if it might overlap a bit with my What's Up Wednesday posts. I hope you all don't mind too much! Last Tuesday, September 30th, Evan and I had tickets to see 21 Pilots in concert in Hartford Ct. The show was at an indoor/outdoor venue called the Xfinity Center (not to be confused with the other indoor/outdoor Xfinitiy Center in Massachusetts). We had never been to the Xfinity Center and had no idea what to expect. Reviews online were not favorable but we really enjoyed it. I'll liberally sprinkle photos in around all the details, feel free to skip them and just look- most of the details are for me to remember anyway! I wore comfy clothes with large pockets so I didn't need to bring a bag with me. I carried just my phone (with my credit card tucked inside), keys, and ear plugs. We were surprised to find ourselves so close to the stage! We got an email a few days prior outlining what time the parking lots and various things opened including the doors and decided to switch up our plans a lot. Originally we were going to arrive around 6 for the 8 o'clock show but the parki...
I haven't done a 3 Things Thursday since November of 2023; I had hoped to make it a fairly regular thing but turns out coming up with 3 things to share about each of us at the same time is much harder than I thought. I also struggle with what to share about other family members now that the boys are all adults-- luckily mine don't seem to care all that much (unless it's photos and then they are quite vocal so I always check with them first). Ian 1. Ian bought himself another piece of equipment for his business. It's fun watching him zip around in the skid steer to move snow piles around. I guess I should mention what his business is! He's started a hardscaping business. That means he does things like lay patios, build walk ways, build retaining walls, etc. Mostly working with block and stone. Sounds like he already has a couple of jobs lined up for the spring. 2. Speaking of plowing, since Ian's business is seasonal he has been picking up some winter jobs...
When my boys were little and we'd take them out to eat I kept a small bag of toys in the car to grab on our way into any restaurant. That way they would be entertained and a bit quieter while we enjoyed our meal. Now that the boys are older we don't keep a bag of toys handy but we do have few games we use to keep the boys occupied if they start getting bored or squirmy while we're waiting for our food or our check. While there are many phone apps, portable gaming systems and electronic games that could occupy my kids we prefer to use the time together at restaurants to connect with one another and so we tend to play games like: Hangman-- any restaurant that has paper place mats works well for this. We take turns picking a word and drawing our hangman stand then take turns calling out letters and seeing if we can solve the puzzle. Tic Tac Toe-- This works best with pen on paper place mats but we have played making a grid with butter knives ...
Very cute idea- I like actually using real pumpkins as vases in the fall- even on Thanksgiving!
