This month's Pinterest challenge was all about fall and I just knew I wanted to create something with flowers. I thought about making another door wreath but wanted to try something a little different. I have so many pumpkin/ flower centerpieces pinned to my pinterest boards and I wondered if I could create something similar that would last year after year.
As much as I love this pin and it's beautiful pumpkin centerpiece I do not like cutting into real pumpkins (I just can't stand the smell!) and while real flowers are just so beautiful I like to have something that lasts longer than a week. So I went to Michael's to see what I could find.
I just loved this adorable wooden pumpkin and thought that with some floral foam and a few faux flowers I could have a really cute centerpiece.
First I cut the foam block to fit in the wooden pumpkin so that it was level with the sides. Then I began putting in my flowers. Starting with the center and working my way evenly outwards.
Once I had my flowers the way I liked them I began working on filling in any gaps and making sure to use filler to block the foam from eye view.
I did use one small bunch of pink flowers I found in my stash to help as filler and just love how it turned out!! Shown below from all 4 sides.
This will be a perfect centerpiece for my fall dining table!

Love the wooden pumpkin container you chose to make this lovely arrangement, JoAnne. You can use it in so many ways for Fall! I'm with you on not using the real thing. I always end up having a mess and worry about them attracting bugs if the pumpkin sits around too long.
Super Cute! I just ordered some faux flowers to play around with from Amazon, I hope they are as cute as yours! So great to use a faux pumpkin too so it will last and last! Jenna

I know what you mean about cutting into a real pumpkin, even though I don't have a problem eating the cooked vegetable! Your version will last a long time and won't collapse on itself as the season goes on.
When my boys were little and we'd take them out to eat I kept a small bag of toys in the car to grab on our way into any restaurant. That way they would be entertained and a bit quieter while we enjoyed our meal. Now that the boys are older we don't keep a bag of toys handy but we do have few games we use to keep the boys occupied if they start getting bored or squirmy while we're waiting for our food or our check. While there are many phone apps, portable gaming systems and electronic games that could occupy my kids we prefer to use the time together at restaurants to connect with one another and so we tend to play games like: Hangman-- any restaurant that has paper place mats works well for this. We take turns picking a word and drawing our hangman stand then take turns calling out letters and seeing if we can solve the puzzle. Tic Tac Toe-- This works best with pen on paper place mats but we have played making a grid with butter knives ...
I have wanted to make a series about shows we're enjoying on TV for several years now but I am so inconsistent with it! I published two posts in 2019 about my favorite shows to binge/rewatch and my favorite shows to watch that season. Then I remembered to write another post in spring 2024 about favorite shows and movies I had been watching and once again forgot to ever write another one. Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. And through the years I had SO MANY favorites! Growing pains aired in 1985 which put me around age 8 and it stayed on the air until I was 15 or so; I'm pretty sure most people in my age group watched mostly for Kirk Cameron and all his antics. I still have a soft spot for family sit-coms! The Facts of Life aired when I was just 2 and stayed on the air until I was 11 so I'm sure the episodes I remember so fondly were either some of the later ones and then reruns shown later on when I was old enough to watch from the beginning. It's the last Wednesday of the month and time to link up with Shay and Sheaffer for What's Up Wednesday. I won't have as many photos as usual since they're on my laptop and that is home in CT... I only have the last few days on my phone. What We're Eating: Evan and I flew to North Carolina for a long weekend and got stuck here since a blizzard hit the east coast and airports shut down (last I heard Providence RI [where we fly into] got 37.5 inches!). We're Eating things like: Crepes from Our Crepes and More. Mine was a tiramisu crepe. Then for dinner my mom had homemade meatballs and sauce with spaghetti, garlic bread, and salad. Breakfast has consisted of yogurt parfait bowls (sorry some photos are sidways and upside I don't have my laptop with me and Blogger is a bit limited on the phone app) or eggs with sourdough toast. It's the third Thursday of the month and time for another ageless style challenge. This month Amy picked Outerwear. Living in New England I have lots and lots of choices for outerwear. I have a lot of winter coats with full bins of hats, mittens, ear muffs, head wraps, scarves and more. Most of my coats have shown up on the blog at least once or twice. The ones I reach for most often are my blue fur lined hood puffer coat from LL Bean. This black and gray plaid that I received in one of my first ever Stitch Fix boxes. This maroon pea coat I got in another early Stitch Fix box. My fur trimmed poncho is what I typically reach for when getting dressed up in winter. I also have a plain gray wool coat.
