Summer Bucket List-- How We Did

Tomorrow is the first official day of fall so I thought today I'd go back through our summer bucket list and see how we did.  In case you missed it I did share our fall bucket list earlier this month.

1.  Go see Crique Du Soleil!-- Check!  It was amazing and my boys have not stopped talking about the various acts we saw.

2.  Kayak around the lake-- check! We went on several kayak trips this year.  Our favorite times to go are early in the morning or in the late afternoon when the lake is mostly emptied.

3.  Go swimming, jet skiing, fishing, and boating-- Check!  We did all of this so much the boys started getting sick of it (one of the hazards of living right on the lake).

4.  Have a cookout or two with friends and family-- Check! We spent lots of time by the water with friends and family enjoying burgers, hot dogs, steak and chicken.  YUM!

5.  Go bowling-- Check! The younger two boys went to a friend's birthday party at a very old bowling place where they had people to reset the pins and send your balls back to you.  It was so cute!

6. Try a few new summer recipes like grilled pineapple chicken or peach/bacon salad-- Check!  We made grilled coconut shrimp, shrimp and pineapple salad, and even peach/bacon salad.

7.  Make some homemade frozen treats-- popsicles, ice cream, and more-- Check!  We made some frozen yogurt pops using our molds and whipped up a batch of homemade ice cream.

8.  Finish updating at least one more garden (last year we tackled two gardens and I'd love to see us keep working on updating them all)-- Nope.  After working on the patio and pressure washing the house I ran out of steam to tackle a garden.

9.  Take a day trip to Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard or Block Island-- Check!  My husband and I went to Nantucket for a day (the boys elected to stay home with their grandparents instead).

10.  Go to the beach-- check!

11.  Tie dye some shirts--Check!

12.  Go tubing down some rapids-- Nope!  August cooled off so fast that we just ran out time to tackle this.

13.  Get ice cream sundaes from Bogey's for dinner one night-- Check!

14.  Pick some fresh fruits-- peaches, blueberries, strawberries -- Check!  We picked strawberries, blueberries, and, peaches, & raspberries!

15.  Feed the ducks-- Nope!  We actually could not do this as the Canadian geese seemed to have chased away all our ducks this year.

16.  Play cornhole-- Check! We all played several games this year at a few different parties we went to.

17.  Go to the movies-- Check!

18.  Go on vacation! -- Check! We had a wonderful time exploring South Dakota and the surroundings states.

19. Hike whenever the weather allows-- Check!

20.  Have a water balloon fight-- Check! The kids had a huge water balloon fight with all of Evan's friends at his birthday party.

Just one of the 6 bins I had scattered around the yard.

  5. Love all the things you planned and accomplished. Well done, my friend. The kids' tee shirts turned out so cute. I like that they each put their own spin on them. Need to remember the water balloon fight idea for next year. My grands would both enjoy getting their grandma soaked.

    1. I just love how writing up this list helps us squeeze in more fun where we might have been floundering around for ideas of things to do otherwise.
