What's Up Wednesday-- June
It's almost July and time for another What's Up Wednesday post. Today I am linking up with Shay and Shafer and all their blogging friends to talk about What's Up.
Let's dive right in!
What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month: Celebrating my birthday! Last year my husband and I took a day together in Maine to walk the shore, enjoy some yummy treats, and do a little shopping. This year I'm torn between a few ideas but hopeful we'll have nice weather for another day trip.
What Else is New: Not much!
Let's dive right in!
What We're Eating This Week:
Sunday: Burgers, hot dogs, butternut squash fries and salad.
Monday: Ice cream sundaes for dinner from Bogey's (we've been trying to get to this stand for 3 years now)
Tuesday: Shrimp kabobs over rice (loaded with summer vegetables)
Wednesday: BBQ chicken with broccoli salad (I'll be playing around with this recipe and making it more WW friendly!) and salad.
Thursday: Corn fritters and salad.
Friday: Tacos and taco salads

Saturday: Homemade WW- friendly pizzas with salad
What I'm Reminiscing About: When at the beach last week I could not help comparing how different (and quiet) it was bringing two tween/teenaged boys to the beach versus when they were little. We had so much less stuff, they mostly wanted to lay on the blanket and soak up the sun, and at one point it looked like they were both going to fall asleep! Sure is a big difference from the days of go go go.
What I'm Loving: These new sandals my mother in law got my for my birthday. They are so comfortable and I just love all the black crisscrosses. You might remember from my summer must haves posts that I have a slight obsession with Clark's and these Cloudsteppers are so soft and cushiony.
What We've Been Up To: We walked the Freedom Trail and spent a wonderful day in Boston.
We went to the beach!
We went hiking a few times.
We celebrated father's day with a new grill and ended up buying a new patio set the same weekend so it's like we have a whole new outdoor living space.
We went to see Cirque De Soleil this past weekend.
What I'm Dreading: I have to bring our cat back to the vet. In the last 4 years he's lost over 4 lbs and is now looking quite malnourished. We finally figured out it's his thyroid and we have to decide if the medication is working and if we want to keep giving him daily meds for the rest of his life (he's at least 16 years old and in pretty good shape otherwise).

What I'm Working On: Painting, painting, and more painting. So far I've painted all the pillars on our deck and in the front of our house, our dock, and our front stoop. I also painted the front door trim and I'd like to re-paint our Adirondack chairs next. So far I have started scraping the old paint off but I have a ways to go. We also have plans to pressure wash the house and deck this summer.
What I'm Excited About: Summer! I'm hosting a summer fun link party that starts this Friday and all summer themed posts are welcome to join us.
What I'm Watching/ Reading: I watched the entire season of The Village-- I LOVED it!!
I've also started watching Cougar Town and the newest edition of AGT.
We watched the whole first season of Mr. Inglasias on Netflix
I read lots of great books this month (you can read about them all this weekend) but my favorites were The Huntress and Summer of '69.
What I'm Listening To: The boys and I just finished up the last book on CD in the Hypnotists series called The Dragonfly Effect. While we love Gordon Korman's books this was one a little too far fetched for us.
What I'm Wearing: I've been wearing lots of cute summer tops that I purchased on Amazon (my clothing finds will be up on the blog on the second of July; make sure you come back to see all that I bought and kept this month).
What I'm Doing this Weekend: Hopefully finishing up my painting projects around the house. I really want to finish before the hot weather hits.
Stoop painted but not the pillars and door surround |
After painting the pillars and door trim the blue door really pops |

How was your month?
You look so great! Love sandals. Ice cream sundaes for dinner....YES! Your pillars look fabulous too
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
DeleteWe'd love to visit the beach but I don't think we will this year! I watched the Village...heard it wasn't renewed. My kids really wanted to go see a cirque du soleil show in Vegas but it was too expensive!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I have seen three of their shows in Vegas; they are expensive but when it's just the two of us it's not quite so prohibitive. I almost died when I saw how much 4 tickets costs! But figure we're not taking a summer vacation so... I sucked it up. They did love it too and I am glad we went but I cautioned them that we'd probably never manage to go to any of their shows all together again.
DeleteSummers are so fun with children! We have made some fun memories so far and cannot wait for this weekend in the north Georgia mountains!

Our summer is off to a great start! We just booked a bunch of hang-outs with friends for the next few weeks too.
DeleteMy friend's cat is diabetic and has thyroid issues - She has had great luck with some sort of thyroid cream that she rubs into the inside of his ear - ask your vet about that, if you don't want to give oral meds...
ReplyDeleteWe were told that was a possibility but it's much more expensive than the pills. So far he has been great about gobbling them up along with his wet cat food and he seems like he's gaining weight so that's good.
DeleteOMG, you are SO cute. I love seeing YOU!!
ReplyDeleteI also love those sandals and all of your outfits.
PS- come to my house and make me dinner. I need motivation.
Thanks; I don't really like photos of myself but realized I needed to start getting more comfortable being "me."
DeleteThose sandals are really cute! I love the blue door. And I am so excited for my library hold on The Huntress to come in.
ReplyDeleteI love when a library book I've been waiting for comes in; it's like Christmas!
DeleteLove your paint color for the stoop, enjoy the photo's of your trip, and now following you, thank you for comment on my "newly configured" blog, it is fun here in blog-world. And I hope to join in on "Summer Fun" link party.
