Friday Favorites: We "Found" A New Museum

We had another pretty rainy and cloudy week but we're still making the best of it.  I'd love a bit more sunshine and slightly warmer temps but we still manage to get out of the house between storms and really took in a lot this week.  We celebrated a birthday, went for a hike, checked out a new museum and met up with friends a couple of times!

It rained again on Friday so the boys and I mainly stayed inside working on schoolwork, cleaning and starting on Ian's birthday dessert; which Alec and I finished on Saturday while Ian was at work.

Sunday we had a small birthday party for Ian with all his grandparents.  We enjoyed a delicious steak dinner, watched him open gifts, and enjoyed the peanut butter brownie cupcakes.  It was so rainy and cold that we got a nice fire roaring in the fireplace.

We were so happy to see the sun on Monday that we made plans to go walking with some of our friends after lunch.  When we were done walking the kids all got ice cream (I took one tiny spoonful of Ian's Coffee Oreo).

It was pretty gloomy and cold on Tuesday to we didn't do much beyond Alec's karate class.  The younger boys and I watched Apollo 13 together; Ian had already seen it but I wanted the younger two boys to watch it with me for part of our science unit on outer space.

We got out for almost an hours hike on Wednesday.  We still didn't have any sunshine but at least it wasn't raining and had warmed up slightly.

On Thursday we went to learn all about the Narraganset Indigenous people with some friends of ours.  While photos were not allowed in the museum we did look all around.  We learned of the roll these indigenous tribes have played in all the wars all the way back to the revolutionary war.  We also took a walk outside and our guide pointed out all the edible plants nearby as well as explaining about all the myriad uses of the plants and trees.  It was fantastic!!   After our time at the museum we went to a local pizza parlor and spent time relaxing, eating, and playing card games.

How was your week?

    1. It was so interesting; it was tiny but the woman running it was full of information. I could have listened to her talk and explain for hours.

    1. Yep, we've had so much rain that we have learned to get out whenever we can and make the most of it.

  6. It's been so gloomy in my neck of the woods too, it's been hard not to get depressed. Today it will be sunny so I will get out and enjoy it while I can. I love all the fun things you do with your kids!

  7. Boy oh Boy, that cupcake looked amazing! As did all of the wonderful views from you hike! Where we have moved I have not found a place to hike yet, which really bums me a bit. MK and I used to go for a hike every week. I guess really, we have enough beauty right at home to hike in, so maybe we should start doing that!

Thanks so much for linking up with us this week!

    Blessings,

    Amy

    1. I use Alltrails to help me find new hiking places nearby. It's not a perfect app/site but I have gotten some good ides off of it.
