Books I Read in October

I read another half- dozen books this month and while I enjoyed most of them I can't say any one book really stuck out in my mind.  I kept waiting for that one book that I just could not put down...

1.  Small Admissions by Amy Poeppel-- When Kate is floundering around after life tosses her an unexpected curve ball she finds herself working in the admissions office of a small private school in New York and nothing has prepared her for what the world of admissions is like!  Working long hours, interviewing all kinds of children, and dealing with crazy parents Kate finds she's surprisingly good at her new job.

2. In His Father's Footsteps by Danielle Steel-- A poignant mutli-generational story.  When Jakob and Emmanuelle are liberated from a concentration camp they make the decision to marry and move to America together.  Making their way slowly up from nothing they start a wonderful new life for themselves and their son.  Their son, Max, attends Harvard and begins to blossom as a business tycoon eventually choosing a rich young heiress as his wife.  But when his wife leaves him to raise the kids all on his own he's determined to struggle and persevere following in his father's footsteps.

3.  Between You and Me by Susan Wiggs-- When Amish farmer, Caleb,  finds himself in the midst of a bustling big city hospital Dr. Reese Powell is like in a night in shining armor helping him understand what is happening with his young nephew he's been raising since his brother's death.  The two become fast friends and though they'd love to be more to one another it seems impossible.

4. Haven Creek by Rochelle Alers-- Morgan has put her entire life on hold to devote herself to her career and it's finally paid off!  She's been hired to restore Angel's Landing on Cavanaugh Island.  She asks Nate, the best woodworker on the island to help her.  But when Morgan begins to fall in love with Nate she begins to wonder if it's worth risking her heart and her career for love.

5.  Welcome to Moonlight Harbor by Sheila Roberts--  When Jenna finds herself 40, divorced, paying alimony to her husband and worrying about bills she is thrilled to head to Moonlight Harbor and help her aunt run The Driftwood Inn.  Jenna can not wait to show her daughter around the wonderful beach side town Jenna visited every summer but when they get there Jenna is dismayed at the state of neglect the old hotel is showing.  With very little money between them Jenna is not sure she can keep The Driftwood in business for her aunt, but she is determined to try.

Welcome to Moonlight Harbor (A Moonlight Harbor Novel Book 1) by [Roberts, Sheila]

6.  Wrinkle in Time (graphic novel) by Madeleine L'Engle-- I honestly did not enjoy this book at all.  I'm not sure if it was because it was a graphic novel but I had a very hard time following the story.  Meg and her brother Charles do not fit in where they live and when they encounter Mrs. Who, Mrs. Which and Mrs. Whatsit who whisk them and their friend off to the outer reaches of the universe to save the world and bring Meg's missing dad back home.

  1. Wow! You read a lot. I can't remember when I read an actual book. I'm usually struggling so much to keep up with reading on the Internet, plus my bible study books. I'm reading a book by Kay Arthur now and a Bible Journaling book.

    1. Yeah I fairly devour books. This year I took on a 52 week reading challenge that has forced me to read books from other genres and a bit outside my comfort zone. With just two months left to go I really need to buckle down in order to finish a few areas I've been avoiding.
