Virtual Refrigerator-- Sticker By Number

Thanks for stopping by and joining us again this week as we host another virtual refrigerator arts and crafts link up.


While shopping at Old Mistick Village the other week I was intrigued with a book we saw called Paint By Sticker Birds.


I offered to buy it for Alec so we could give it a try.  It has been so much fun!  He has been working on the pictures as he listens to books on CD in his room and he was kind enough to let me assemble a bird too.

For each bird there is a few pages of stickers with numbers under them like this:



You match the letter and number of each sticker to the numbers on the pictures like this:


And even though the images look like this up close...


You end up with beautiful images like this when you're done!

I loved the challenge of this week's list for our 26 lists link up.  I don't know about you but I really need to laugh more lately.  It's such a great stress reliever. 1.  Books-- I love a good funny book that makes me laugh out loud.  I haven't read one in a while but if you have any recommendations I'm all ears.  The last book I can remember making me laugh was the Un-Honeymooners. 2  The boys being silly. 3.  Watching shows like America's Funniest Videos or Family Feud. 4. Favorite TV Shows Growing Up in the 80's and early 90's

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. And through the years I had SO MANY favorites! Growing pains aired in 1985 which put me around age 8 and it stayed on the air until I was 15 or so; I'm pretty sure most people in my age group watched mostly for Kirk Cameron and all his antics.  I still have a soft spot for family sit-coms!  The Facts of Life aired when I was just 2  and stayed on the air until I was 11 so I'm sure the episodes I remember so fondly were either some of the later ones and then reruns shown later on when I was old enough to watch from the beginning. Prime Purchases in September

 It's the first Monday of the month and time for Prime Purchases. I caved in to an offer for a free trial of Amazon Prime at the end of August that allowed me to order a hiking skirt and have it come in in time to for our trip to Montana. Unfortunately, having that free shipping seems to have enticed me to order more... But my free trial is over and hopefully my ordering will tamper off. Though with Christmas coming up that might not be a possibility plus I've already placed 2 orders in October! Meanwhile check out all the stuff I bought last month.   Clothing: First up is the hiking skirt I ordered for our trip. I love it... but I didn't get a chance to wear it. Mornings were much too cool for a skirt even though afternoons were downright hot.  I also ordered another kimono ...  Hey, look at me finally remembering to write up a Hodgepodge Wednesday post! This week Joyce came up with some fun questions to answer.   1. March 15th is known as The Ides of March, the date on which Julius Caesar was assassinated in 44 B.C....have you ever been to Rome? If so what did you love most about the city? If not, is this a place you'd like to visit?  Nope, I've never been but I wouldn't turn down a trip if someone was offering! It's not first on my Italy bucket list though.. Recipes We've been Making Lately

By the end of summer I'm usually struggling with new and creative ways to eat all the veggies we get in our CSA boxes. My boys aren't the greatest about eating their veggies so I'm always looking for new ways to sneak veggies into our diet.  In putting this post together I found it rather ironic that nearly all of the recipes included cheese of some kind since I really try to limit our diary/cheese. We honestly eat cheese less than once a week but for whatever reason most new recipes we tried these past few months were quite cheese and dairy heavy.   I made these eggplant meatballs to go with our spaghetti and homemade marinara one night. I roasted the eggplant in the oven along with the garlic and 1/2 an onion (diced). Then I followed the rest of the recipe as is. Again my family surprised me by eating them all (the recipe only made a dozen or so). Next time I'd like to try swapping out the cheese with some form of ground meat since we're trying so hard to get away...
