How Blogging Helps Me a Better Mom
Usually I think I am a pretty good mom but there are times when I start to feel like maybe I am not giving it my all.
There are times when I don't feel like taking photographs or playing with my boys; is that just awful to admit? I mean I LOVE my boys but playing with them every single time they ask me means I have to set aside what I want to do. That can be so hard to do!
As a family we can fall into a funk or a rut where we're just doing the same things everyday and I don't feel like we're connecting or having much fun.
If I'm brutally honest, I know it's often the thought of not having anything to share on my blog that pushes me to do more, try more, and be in the moment more. I know it's what helps me keep my camera at hand to document so much of our lives.
I have often thought about giving up my blog but I do feel that would allow me to slack off so much more... and I'd hate it!
I think blogging helps me be a better mom and a better homeschooling mom at that because it keeps me more accountable.
I know that we have to get out of the house and experience life if I want to have new and exciting content to share. We have to try new products and projects if I want to have fresh new ideas to write about.
I often link up with other bloggers and reading their blogs gives me so many wonderful ideas to try out myself; ideas I know I would not be out searching for otherwise.
I know if it weren't for the blog the boys and I would not have tried our 100 Days of Art Challenge, we wouldn't be attempting our 100 Days of Science Challenge, and I'm not so sure I'd be worried about trying out new experiences for our 52 Brand New post I write each year.... just to name a few things.
I'm not saying I'd be a bad mom without my blog but I do think it helps push me to be better, try harder, and to connect with so many other moms than I ever could in real life.

There is nothing wrong with using your blog to instill inspiration. Having read some of the things you've written about lately (I'm a new reader), I'd say you are a phenomenal mom. In fact, after reading your posts, I felt like a slacker! But we all do what we can to the best of our ability and as long as your intention stays pure, that's all you can do. Give yourself a break and enjoy those boys!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you! And Welcome to my blog!
DeleteAbsolutely, blogging is great for keeping us accountable!
ReplyDeleteI just love it!
DeleteI'm with you! I love blogging and it feels so right to be back doing it each day.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to see you back at it too!
DeleteThank you! I haven't been completely on it with different activities recently and a bit slacking in different play with my kids. Granted I have a new born on the go but reading this just makes me want to try harder!! Thank you for linking up to the #familyfunlinky
ReplyDeleteAw, don't be so hard on yourself. A new baby is worth all sorts of grace. Just keeping them clean, fed, and alive is work enough when you have two littles!
DeleteI hear you, and I can also attest to the fact that the accountability of blogging has pushed me to be quicker to take pictures.
ReplyDeleteMy family doesn't always think that is such a great thing though.
