10 Amazon Prime Benefits that Help Our Homeschool
My mother in law paid for an Amazon Prime membership for us last year as part of our Christmas gift. It made perfect sense for us since I am on Amazon ALL THE TIME! I just love how convenient it is to order what I need and have it shipped right to my door.
I had no idea that it would help in my homeschooling though. Other than ordering toys, games and books and getting free shipping I didn't see how it would help.
I had no idea that it would help in my homeschooling though. Other than ordering toys, games and books and getting free shipping I didn't see how it would help.
But it has been so wonderful!
Amazon Prime membership has had so many added benefits that have helped us to homeschool this year.
1. Free Books!! I love that with Amazon's Prime Reading we can check out books for everyone to look through on a Kindle or Kindle app for Free! It's just about better than having a library card since I don't even have to leave my house when someone is under the weather or there's a not so nice layer of snow outside. Plus with Kindle first I can chose one book from the 6 Editor's picks each month to "buy" for free.
2. Free Movies! With Prime Video we can watch free movies for no additional cost. We've watched many educational movies through Prime and all with just the click of a button on our remote.
3. Free Audiobooks. We love audiobooks and with Audible channels for Prime we can select from many family favorites to listen to together.
4. Free shipping on school books. I buy many of our schoolbooks through Amazon and I love that we get fast, free shipping and easy no-hassle returns. I also love that just about all of their books offer me to peak inside and see what the workbook pages are like. That way I am not just making a guess as to whether it will be a good fit for us or not. But if I make a mistake and the book comes in and it's not at all what I pictured it to be I can ship it right back for no-hassle returns.
5. A huge selection of toys and games; obviously Amazon always has a huge selection of toys and games and I don't need to be a Prime member to enjoy them. But I can enjoy early access to deals. Amazon often offers lightening deals on toys and games that I'd like to buy and with Prime I can take advantage of lightening deals before they run out of the product.
6. Free Learning Apps for the Kindles. My kids love their Kindles and we've downloaded so many great, educational games for them.
7. Free Magazines. With Amazon prime I have access to free magazines each month. Some like Family Circle and Parents help me come up with fun crafting ideas and family projects.
8. 2- Day Shipping. I don't normally need fast 2- day shipping and I have often opted not to have my stuff arrive that quickly since I can often get a bonus for not using free 2-day shipping but sometimes that quick ship comes in so handy! Like when Alec needed a new math book and we were able to get a new one in just 2 days. It was so nice to know that I didn't have to come up with a week's work of supplemental materials until his new book came in.
9. Free Music. With Prime music I can stream music for free. They have a huge selection to choose from and it's great for adding more music into our days.
10. Groceries. SO, to be totally honest I have not yet taken advantage of this one yet; but I do plan to. With Prime delivery I can have groceries delivered right to my door! With Amazon fresh (that is only available to Prime members) I can even get things like meat, veggies, and fruits delivered right to my door. This would be such a great benefit on those weeks when we're too busy to get to the store and still save us money from calling out for dinner or eating out for meals.
How has Amazon Prime helped you? Are there any other added benefits that you enjoy that I have missed?
You're right, Amazon is the homeschooler's great friend! I love it, too :) Thanks for sharing at Family Joy Blog Link up.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!
DeleteWe <3 Amazon Prime!
ReplyDeleteWe definitely do too!
DeleteAmazon Prime rocks. I love not running to the store for just one thing. I think it saves me even more money because it stops my impulse buying. ;)
ReplyDeleteI think so too! Plus I pretty much always have three kids in tow and while I'm great at saying no at least with Amazon they don't even know I'm shopping!
DeleteMy daughter "accidentally" signed up for Amazon Prime and we had no idea of all these perks. Thank you! I'm pinning this one.
ReplyDeleteGlad I could help!
DeleteAmazon Prime has saved me hundreds of dollars in gas ;). The nearest WalMart is 30 miles away, and our town only has one grocery store. I'm going to have to check out Amazon Fresh!
ReplyDeleteI have one girlfriend who swears by Amazon Fresh and says the shipping costs aren't bad at all. We are definitely going to be trying it out soon.
DeleteI use it all the time too, but thanks for the list. Found a few to use more in our homeschooling
ReplyDeleteOh good! Glad I could help.
DeleteI just checked it out and I'm signing up too! #practicalmondays
ReplyDeleteI hope you like it as much as we do!
DeleteIn Germany, there's a programm for university students, which means that they get Prime for 50% and a few special discounts. Although I prefer offline shopping :D I profit from Amazon Prime a lot! I can listen to music for free and watch movies and series without having to buy the CDs or a TV. This is great for saving money as a student. And free shipping's always nice.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great program. I know there is some sort of discount for students in the U.S too but it's been too long since I was a student to know just how much of a discount that is.
DeleteOh wow I never knew anything about this. So glad you have found it such great help #mg
ReplyDeleteYeah, but now I can't let my Prime membership go; I'll be lost without it!
DeleteWe love Amazon Prime too! Totally worth it if you buy lots of items on Amazon, love movies, love music, and love books!
ReplyDeleteUs too!
DeleteI don't have Amazon Prime, but have been eyeing the one on Amazon.ca. Thanks for sharing these great reasons, I wasn't aware of the benefits!
ReplyDeleteYou're so welcome!
Deletewow, I wasnt aware of most of these!! thanks for the heads up
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! I wasn't either until I really started looking.
DeleteI find amazon really useful- if you don't live in a big city it can be hard to source a specific item close by. #familyfunlinky
ReplyDeleteYep, I rely on Amazon for a lot; we don't have a huge selection of shops nearby and I love that just about anything is available through them.
DeleteI love my Prime membership. I’m terrible for leaving things to the last minute, or my son might forget to tell me about a friends party till a couple of days before, I used to spend a fortune on next day delivery, now I don’t need to worry. It seems expensive at first but it has honestly saved me a fortune, and that’s without all the extra benefits.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining #FamilyFunLinky x
I was on Amazon all the time and would often try to wait until my order was big enough for free shipping but felt I often added other items to the cart we didn't really need.. so yeah prime membership has helped tremendously!
