My Summer Reads
This weekend I stumbled upon another book list/ challenge for reading (something I JUST LOVE!).
In reading this post (that was all about books taking place on an island) I was inspired to look through books and find some new reading material just for me to enjoy this summer.
I love reading; I almost always have a book tucked into my purse or in my car just in case.... just in case I get a spare moment to wait I'll read. Just in case I am unexpectedly alone I have "company." You know... just in case.
Anyhow as much as I love to read there is just something about summer that calls out to me to find new books. Often I'll read about seaside towns, island trips, and always about relationships. I love novels about finding love, mending fences between family members, making those new best friends that feel like family or keeping those "sister" bonds going.
I have so many old favorite novels that often it's hard for me to just jump in and start reading something new. I often find I gravitate towards series for that exact reason; I know the characters I'l be reading about and they often just cement those bonds further.
This year I vowed to branch out and try some new books... but I do enjoy reading books that remind me of summer; seaside towns, simple pleasures, warm weather...
Here are some of the books I hope to read this summer:
The Island House by Nancy Thayer
Here's to Us by Elin Hilderbrand
Two by Two-- Nicholas Sparks
House Rules by Jodi Picoult
Body Surfing by Anita Shreve
A Second Chance by Bryan Mooney
I can't wait to get to the library!

Nice book list. I have not heard of them. I will have to check it out.
ReplyDeleteI just checked three of them out of the library today. I'll have to update the list once I've read them with a mini review of each.
DeleteYou have some of my favorite authors here. Nicholas Sparks, on the waiting list at the library for that book. Elin H. Love her books. Making a note of these!
ReplyDeleteOh good! I'm glad you enjoyed them. I went to the library looking for these exact books and not only came home with a few of them but several others by the same authors too.
DeleteOooh, you've got yourself some great reads for the summer! Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm really enjoying Body Surfing so far.
DeleteBody Surfing has been on my Goodreads list for several years. I'm very familiar with several of these authors! You have a great summer of reading planned!
ReplyDeleteJust finished Body Surfing and getting ready to dig into House Rules.
DeleteI love reading, too! I've almost always got several going at once. Thanks for sharing at #LMMLinkup!
ReplyDeleteI usually have a few going as well. I've since realized I should have called this list my June reads since it will never last me all summer!
DeleteThanks for sharing your book list and why you read the books that you do! Glad to have you at Together on Tuesdays. Come on back next week, too :)
ReplyDeleteI will!
DeleteThanks for linking up with What to Read Wednesday. Your post was the most clicked from last week and will be featured on this week's post. I hope you'll stop by and link up again! :)
ReplyDeleteI certainly will!

DeleteLooks like a fun list! I love books you get swept up in like Jodi Picoult, although I haven't read House Rules. I read her most recent book, Small Great Things, and it was excellent! happy reading!
ReplyDeleteSmall Great Things was excellent! I loved it.. have you read Nineteen minutes? I could not put that one down!
DeleteI read the first two and loved them!!
ReplyDeleteI just love pretty much anything by Elin Hilderbrand and Nancy Thayer.
