Talking About It Tuesdays #145

We had another lovely weekend. I spent most of the day Friday with my brother. We wnet to breakfast and ended up talking for over 3 hours (luckily the restaurant was not crowded and they didn't seem to mind!). Then I talked with Evan for nearly 2 hours as he caught me up on everything happening at school. Our weather was beautiful this weekend and my husband and I spent most of Saturday trading in that new Ranger we just bought on our trip home from Maine in June for an updated model (long story short ours had been a dud and with less than 150 miles on it had already spent 4 weeks in the shop!). Hopefully the new one (that we should be picking up this weekend) is much better!

Now that November is officially here I've turned my thoughts to Thanksgiving and our meal, holiday decorating plans, Christmas gift ideas, etc. Everything should be pretty low key this year with just our family of 5 but it never hurts to plan. I love the holiday ideas I get through blogging so please feel free to share your recipe, decorating, gift giving ideas and anything else you feel compelled to share!

This party will remain open until the weekend.  My hope is that everyone will share all sorts of wonderful posts: travel, recipes, how to's, crafting ideas, and more-- up to 3 posts per blog.  Anything that is family friendly is welcome; even old posts that you'd like to get some new views.

  1. I think it is so nice that you and your brother are so close that you can talk for hours. That is lovely.

    1. Aw, thank you. Having him live with us for a few months this past year really brought us closer together.

  3. I've turned to the holidays too. I've got some very long to-do lists between Violet's birthday, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

    1. I really don't have much to do at all other than menu plan for Thanksgiving and possibly Christmas eve if my brother and some/all of his kids can make it. Otherwise I might look into something we can do together and get out of the house. We'll see... I'm pretty flexible. But it doesn't sound like I have gifts to buy for anyone so no wrapping either. We'll decorate altogether when the two college boys are home and last year they did 95% of the work for me!

  4. Nice weekend! You had lots of one on one conversation which I love!
I have hardly thought about gifts but my kids seemed to like the receiving of a new book and a good chocolate bar on Eve along with their pajamas or now basically just fleece pants. I like to do some consumables since we all just have so much stuff.

    1. I'm not sure we're even going to have gifts to open this year. I mean I plan to fill stocking still but so far no one wants anything I can wrap and put under the tree so it could be a very different feeling Christmas this year.

  5. Enjoying one-on-one time with our kids for extended periods of time is such a gift as is time with a sibling! Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend! I hope the Ranger trade in goes well and that the new model is a big improvement! Thanks for the party!

  6. It's amusing how quickly the shops move to Christmas (no Thanksgiving here) the day after Halloween!

    1. Oh yes, ours had Christmas stuff out before Halloween was even over.

    1. We're the opposite-- we transform the whole house in one day. But I'm pretty lax about what goes where and even what needs to be put out on any given year.
