Talking About it Tuesday #143

We had a chilly weekend for Evan's Parents' weekend at college; though just like Alec's parents' weekend we only went up for one day on Saturday. That was the day with the most activities and not only did Evan not mind he had warned us ahead of time that he had plans at dinner time. I just had to laugh. He has surpassed all our expectations at how quickly and how well he has settled into life at school. I do touch base with him once a week but it's usually pretty quick as he's often on the go. It was nice meeting some of the friends I often hear about though and we finally made it over to arboretum that we've been wanting to check out.

Luckily, after the cold spell this weekend it is supposed to warm up a bit again this week. Hopefully I can squeeze in a few more hikes this week... and maybe even some arts and crafts too. How was your weekend? Is your week shaping up to be a good one?

I've got some fun themed features for you this week from last week's party. We don't celebrate or decorate or do much for Halloween but I sure to enjoy seeing all the creative ideas everyone has to share.

  1. How wonderful that Evan is settling in so well and that he enjoys college a lot. I hope he continues to have great experiences there. It's been getting really chilly at night here (freezing and whatnot) but our daytime temps have been lovely and will be for the next little bit. Thanks for the link up!

  6. We are in a cold spell as well, it is surprising how chilly it feels when Hot! and even Hotter, is the usual temp! Your young men are showing their growing personalities settling in at college. It is always nice when our kids are moving right along, but a bit nostalgic as well....

  8. Awww! While it's a bit bittersweet it also warms a mama's heart to see one's child embracing the college life! We really don't want anything more than that, right? Sounds like you had a good experience and a trip to the arboretum in the fall must have been a lovely addition to the day, too! Thanks for the party!

  9. Oh, once the young people leave the house they lead their own life very quickly...in most cases. And a great pleasure for parents if they are well and happy. But times passes so fast...you look at some pics of a few years ago...they were real kids there...and now....
Have a good time and all the best

  10. Morning, Joanne. Thank you for a lovely party.
Glad to hear I am not the only one not celebrating and participating in Halloween, but love seeing how creative people get and many times used ideas and adapt them.

  11. We don't celebrate Halloween, either--I love decorating for fall, but nothing scary or creepy. We have a family tradition of doing something on Halloween, typically a family dinner and a movie. The last few years it's been Harry Potter with themed food, which has been really fun. Thanks for hosting, Joanne! 😊

  13. THis will be a quiet Halloween for us too! So glad to hear that Evan settled in well to college life, and that Alec is also doing well. I remember our daughter hating the cafeteria food at her college and my going into Manhattan to take her provisions, or to take her out to lunch. Fortunately she was only a subway distance away at NYU at the time.

  14. Isn't it a great feeling when our children are doing well and busy with school and friends? It's also a relief lol. Thank you for the feature this week, Joanne! I have had so much fun painting those $1.97 Jacks from Walmart--I have made 5 so far. Have a wonderful, warmer week.
