Talking About it Tuesdays #132
I debated for a few days about whether to say anything or not... but I pretty much always start my Tuesday link party with a weekend recap and to say nothing felt weird as well. I had a pretty lousy weekend when I learned Saturday night that my father had passed away quite suddenly. I won't go into any further detail here on the blog but if I read and comment and don't make 100% sense it's because while I'm here I also don't feel fully present in anything at all this week. I'm struggling to concentrate on much of anything and yet also trying to keep busy. My father and I weren't super close which oddly makes this whole process both easier in some aspects and much more complicated and harder in others. I don't anticipate taking any time off from blogging but if my posts are a bit more sporadic you'll understand why. I hope you all had a good weekend!
I've been hosting/co-hosting link parties for ages and ages and I've never had one where the most popular post was a 4 way tie... but that is what happened last week! It sure made my job so much easier as I often take a long time picking out what posts to feature. I have so many self-imposed "rules" that can make it a bit trickier and more time consuming but I don't mind. Of course that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy the break this week!

This party will remain open until the weekend. My hope is that everyone will share all sorts of wonderful posts: travel, recipes, how to's, crafting ideas, and more-- up to 3 posts per blog. Anything that is family friendly is welcome; even old posts that you'd like to get some new views.

The loss of someone so close biologically is fraught with emotions no matter how close the deceased was to you personally. I'm so sorry for your loss and take all the time to process that you need. Thanks for the link up and know how cared you are by the blog community and those who are lucky enough to know you in real life. Sending hugs!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you.
DeleteI am very sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI’m so sorry about the loss of your father. I was not super-close to mine, either, and part of the grief was over “what might have been.” By the time I got to wondering what made him tick, none of his family was around any more to ask. The death of someone who has been part of our lives from the beginning takes a toll on us even if the relationship wasn’t close. My prayers are with you and your family.
ReplyDeleteYes! I definitely think part of the grief is over "what might have been" for sure.
DeleteI'm so sorry to hear about your dad, my friend. I woke up yesterday thinking of and praying for you. I think you'll be surprised by some feelings as you process over the next few months. I will continue to pray for all of you as you face the coming days. Thank you for still being here to host! Much love to you, my friend.
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks Jen.
DeleteI'm so sorry for your loss and I understand all the mixed emotions you must be going through now. It's tough. Praying for you!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you Amy.
DeleteFirst of all, I am so sorry for your loss, and I understand what you say about the complicated relationship meaning both things are true. I had a difficult relationship with my mom, and it made my grief more difficult at times and still does. I hope you have the time and space to process your feelings. Take the time you need and if you want to talk/write, we are here.
ReplyDeleteA four-way tie is funny and it is always a little shocking to see my face on the screen! You needed easy this week and you got it. Please take care of yourself and don't put pressure on yourself to do your normal routine.
Sending a virtual hug your way.
Thanks. I was just thinking that I'll probably be sending you all a group text or two tomorrow just to vent/grieve-- as I think my immediately family, while quite understanding, can only take so much.
DeleteJoanne, I'm so sorry for your loss. Please take all of the time you need to process your feelings. Grief has a way of rearing up at different times. Thank you for still hosting the link up and for the features. This is a comforting place to visit and I hope we are the same for you.
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you!
DeleteJoanne,
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear of the loss of your father. Mine passed away suddenly too and it was such a shock . Because my Dad and I were very close, it was one of the most devastating losses of my life but it prepared me sadly, for all the other losses that I have experienced which are far too many..Give yourself grace even though I do understand the need to keep busy..Grief is a journey and it is like the ocean and comes in waves, especially when you least expect it...And take care of yourself....
Hugs,
Deb

I am definitely finding that to be true Debbie.
Deleteoh...I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your darling father - such a hard time - I know - loosing a parent or anyone who we are close to. Take time for yourself. You may find that in delving through his life you find out things you never knew which will make him even closer to you. My thoughts go out to you. And if you need to take a blogging break, just do it - your readers will understand. Take care of you, and thankyou so much for taking the time to visit my blog this week.
ReplyDeleteAw, you're welcome! And thank you so much for your kind words.
DeleteJoanne,
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry about your father. Just as I was reading your post, the link to this article by Louie Giglio came up on my computer. Thought it might be helpful to you...

Many blessings to you.
Oh I can assure that my father has not. LOL. But thank you so much!
DeleteOh, Joanne! I am so sorry for your sudden loss and I'm thinking of you and your family all as you process and go through all the feelings during the coming days. Praying , too, that, while you support and care for those you love, that you will also take the time to be kind to yourself! You are important to many!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you.
DeleteOh, Joanne, I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of your father. Relationships can be complicated and I understand what you mean by 'easier yet more complicated/harder'. Don't put pressure on yourself, just do what you can - when you can do it. I'll be thinking of you and your family.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ann!
DeleteI am sorry for your loss. I am not close to my father either and often wonder how it will go when he inevitably passes. I pray that you find the peace you need and that you are able to give yourself enough grace to grieve how ever that looks for you.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Estelle. Luckily I have my sister and we get to grieve, commiserate, and navigate our way through this together.
DeleteI'm so sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteOh my friend, I’m so sorry about the loss of your father. I can understand why you felt torn about sharing, but I’m glad you did. I think grief is complicated enough without feeling like you have to explain it or make it look a certain way.
ReplyDeleteI’m especially struck by what you said about not being super close and how that can make things both easier and harder. There are so many layers to losing a parent, and I hope you’re giving yourself plenty of grace as you navigate all of them.
Please don’t worry about comments, posts, or making perfect sense right now. We are all here, and we’ll understand if things feel scattered or different for a while. Sending you so much love as you process this loss. ❤️
Thanks! I am definitely feeling scattered... this has been a crazy few days.
DeleteI'm very sorry for your loss. I wasn't close to my father and remember what a strange torn feeling it was. Take your time, all the best for you.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteJoanne, we all grieve differently, which is exactly how it needs to be. Imagine even more rules imposed upon you at this time. It doesn't matter how, but do process what you need to process, and if you do not feel completely present, trust me, no one will notice or care. Thinking of you at this time.
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you!
DeleteI am sorry for your loss dear Joanne. And I understand a complicated relationship to one or even two parents. That´s what I have with my father. He is 90 now and we have almost no contact. And I can´t say that I would be very sorry if he passed away....it´s bad , but that´s the way it is.
ReplyDeleteHave a good time and all the best
Violetta
I thought that's how I'd be too... so I was shocked that it wasn't. But luckily my sister and I have always been pretty simpatico and we get to lean on one another.
DeleteI am so sorry for your loss, Joann. Even if you weren't close, it is still hard to lose a parent and a connection to past. Take time to grieve and make sense of it all. Sending you a {{{hug}}}
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteMorning, Joanne, Sorry to hear about your father. Despite you not being close, its still not easy, Take care and hugs

Thank you!
DeleteJoanne, so very sorry to hear about your father. May his memory be a blessing to you and all who knew him. Keeping you in my prayers during this time.
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks.
DeleteI'm so sorry about your father. I completely understand what you mean about not being close making it easier and harder to deal with all at the same time. I had a complicated relationship with my mother, and remember feeling that way when she passed. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tanya!
DeleteI'm really sorry for your loss. Grief is so tricky to navigate, in part because it's illogical and we have literally no control over it, no matter how hard we try. I too kept doing everything, in part because I didn't know what to do otherwise - but I prefaced it with 'if I get up and leave, just let me go and I'll text when I'm home safe' and I didn't drink for two months because I was worried about what I'd unleash if I overdid it....exercise is good, eating well is good but really you just have to roll with the emotions, no matter how they find you. Take good care of yourself. It's hard.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is very illogical.
DeleteI'm so sorry to hear about your dad Joanne. Holding you close across the miles. Thank you so much for hosting & warm hospitality. I'm sitting at #60 & 61 this week.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much.
DeleteOh Joanne, I'm so sorry to hear your sad news. A sudden loss is always hard, regardless of the situation. I'm glad you shared, there's a lot of support, understanding and commiseration in our little blog community. I hope it helps a little my friend. Take care.
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you.
DeleteDear Joanne, My thoughts and prayers are with you . Sending healing energy to you.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nancy.
DeleteYour feelings might be similar to how my husband felt when his Mom died. It was hard to feel sad because they didn't have a relationship. She was an abusive narcissist, but it was still weird that she wasn't in the world anymore and he could never get any kind of closure. It messed him up for a long time and still does. She died a couple of years ago now. Hang in there and don't feel guilty if you just don't know how to feel right now.
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you, Lisa.
DeleteSo sorry to hear about your sudden loss, Joanne - my prayers are with you. Even though you said you were not close … the loss is still felt 💔 My youngest brother, the baby of the family, died last summer; we were not close - and I was not close with my parents either & really felt nothing when I heard the news of their passing's: but I still felt a pang of loss. And, it helps to share your feelings among friends 🩹 Sending hugs and warmth, dear Friend 🤗
ReplyDeleteThank you so much.
DeleteI am so sorry to hear your sad news. Please take care of you. Grief is difficult no matter the situation. Thank goodness for your family and your sister as you will need them to lean on. And this blogging community is a very caring place. We are here for comfort. Sending prayers of
ReplyDeletepeace for you and yours.
Aw, thank you so much, Nancy!
DeleteHugs Joanne and prayers!l during this time!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteSo sorry for your loss. From my own experience, the sudden death of a family member to whom you were not very close has a lot of complexity which makes it very hard to deal with. Thinking of you.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteJoanne, I'm so sorry for the loss of your dad. It's a difficult time and sending hugs your way. Thanks for still hosting this blog party. Take care.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Julie.
DeleteJoanne, I am so deeply sorry to hear of your father's death. Grief is so complicated, made all the more so by the suddenness of things. Please be gentle with yourself during this challenging time. Sending wishes of peace and healing.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Jeanie. I'm trying.. it's amazing how scatterbrained I've become this past week..
