My favorite school supplies growing up
I was born in the late '70's so I was really a child of the 80's and 90's. I mostly enjoyed school and learning and going back to school shopping was one of those events I really looked forward do. There are so many school supplies that I see or remember and it immediately takes me back to sitting in the classroom with my saddle shoes and ankle socks, skirts, and matching shirts.
Things like:
1. Trapper keepers! The sound of the velcro, the 3 ring binder paper, and assortment of folders. I loved mine.
2. Push pencils and crayons/ bendy pencils
4. Color changing pens of all sorts:
5. Scratch n Sniff stickers-- really stickers of all kinds were huge as most of us had sticker albums!
6. Prism foil stickers
7. color changing mood pencils
8. Smelly markers
9. Puffy stickers
10. Outline markers
11. Metal lunch box and thermos (though sometime in middle/high school it was much cooler to use a brown bag for your lunch)
12. Owl calculator
13. Troll dolls & troll pencil toppers
14 Other fun pencil toppers
15. shaped erasers
16. Super bounce balls-- now admittedly we could only use these at recess but you were the epitome of cool if you brought one of these to school.
18. You needed folders to put inside the trapper keeper and I often picked something cutesy with animals like this:
19. Weepuls-- not sure why but I always had at least one of these on my desk.
20. A backpack-- while mine changed often and I know I had a navy LL Bean one for a very long time, the one I really remember was a neon patchwork of colors similar to this one but I had two small side by side front pockets.

These brought back so many good memories for me! The Little Professor calculator. ALL the fun sticker packs! The sound of the Velcro when opening a Trapper Keeper. I was listening to my favorite morning radio show in the car recently and the two hosts were talking about how you knew your classmate was rich if the student came to class with the Crayola 64 pack of colors and it was low key kinda true in my school anyway. Poor kids rarely had the 64 pack! FUN post and perfect for back to school!
ReplyDeleteThe owl calculator! That brought back memories. I also think I had that Strawberry Shortcake lunch box. I loved stickers and the multiple color pens. I loved it all - who am I kidding? If I didn't have one of the things mentioned, my sisters did.
ReplyDeleteI could smell the stickers and the markers in your post.
How fun!
