Summer Layering with Ageless Style
It's the third Thursday of the month and time for another ageless style challenge. This month Mirelle picked summer layering. Obviously I don't layer much in the summer but our mornings can sometimes be cool. Really our summer temps can be anywhere in the 60's up into the triple digits so I wear a wide variety of layers and styles.
When it's cool in the mornings or evenings I'll throw on a jean jacket, little cardigan, or even a hooded sweatshirt over my shorts and tank top or leggings and tank top. These also come in handy for dining out or going to the grocery store where the A/C is usually much too chilly for me.

Another way I like to layer is to use chiffon tops over a tank with either shorts or a pair of leggings.

Another layer that you can't really see is the bike shorts I tend to wear under my dresses. Anything knee length or shorter I tend to wear shorts underneath.

I wear sweatshirts year round....I don't wear sweatshirts outside in the summer but I sure wear them often inside in the AC! Your first outfit is something similar to what I wear inside my house most days :).

DeleteI like layering something over a t-shirt or a strap top for many reasons: son protection, cold air-con or just to add texture and colour. Love the variety of layering both over and under. Thanks for sharing

DeleteSo many great options of summer layering. I used to wear kimonos a lot when they were really trending. I still have them all but haven't worn any this season.
ReplyDeleteI don't wear traditional kimonos but I really like the sheer tops since they stay put.

DeleteGreat outfits, as always. I wear biker shorts under my dresses, too, even the long ones! Layering isn't fun in Louisiana summers, but sometimes those biker shorts and tank tops are necessary for modesty.

DeleteI also wear shorts under my skirts. I like the look of long sleeves and shorts but it's not something I ever have the opportunity to wear!

DeleteI completely agree with the grocery store struggle. Those frozen food aisles feel like Antarctica, making a denim jacket absolutely essential even in July. Your Hawaii romper is incredibly cute, styling a simple tank underneath is such a smart hack. I also swear by bike shorts under dresses, they are a total lifesaver for staying comfortable while running errands.

DeleteI love my really light weight short sleeve sweaters over a tank in the summer, kind of like your chiffon tops. I am also one who loves a sweatshirt with shorts and I usually manage that at the beach because we go in the fall. Lovely styles!

DeleteI love all of these outfits, but that chiffon top is my favorite. I tend to look for drapey fabrics in the summer - they are so flattering and cool.
