Share Our Lives: The Favorite Room in my House

It's the second Monday and time for Share Our Lives. This month we're talking about our favorite room in the house.

My favorite room in the house tends to change from season to season. In summer-- my favorite "room in the house" isn't actually a room in the house! My favorite place to be in the summer is either out on our deck or down on our patio.

In winter my favorite room of the house tends to be our finished basement-- particularly when the wood stove is going since it gets nice and toasty warm down there.  Or the living/great room when the fireplace is going.

The other two seasons (spring/fall) my favorite room tends to be my bedroom. We have comfy reclining chairs for watching TV and lots of natural light with our giant windows. My bedroom also holds my laptop, my crafting desk, and I can easily spent hours crafting away.

I hope you join us next month when we'll be talking about our favorite current music.

  1. You have some great rooms in your house and just outside of it. The fact that you have more than one favorite is a testament to how great your house works for you :).

  2. These are all great spaces! I would love the outdoors in the summer and being by a fireplace in the winter.

  3. My favorite room in the spring and fall would be my covered patio and then the living room probably in the other seasons. We made sure to have comfortable furniture in our house. We have a friend who told us his wife won't let him have a comfortable chair and he is right - when we go there nothing is really loungey!

    1. Yes! We have lots of comfy furniture in all the rooms of our house-- not that we always agree on what is comfortable as obviously couches/chairs that I think are comfy don't really fit most of the guys. That happened with our living room! Evan and I went to pick out our new furniture and we both really liked it... only to have it delivered and find that it's much too short for my husband, Ian, and Alec. But none of them wanted to go shopping with me so they had to learn to live with it.

  5. I would say my porch too, at least three quarters of the year. We basically live out there. You have some great spaces that work well for you. Have a nice week!

  17. You have all beautiful spaces to enjoy, Joanne! I usually love my front and backyard patios in summer, but this year there are so many drought related wildfires in Colorado that our air qaulity has been horrible, and therefore I have been staying inside with our air purifiers on. In winter I am usuually in the kitchen cooking something or in our family room keeping warm by our fireplace.

    1. Aw, thank you! I am so sorry to hear about the wildfires. I know you're not the only one battling with that this year.

  23. If my home was on a lake and/or had that view, I'm pretty sure my favorite spot would be outside as well. Maybe three out of the four seasons! How special!!

  29. I missed the theme for this month. Redid the label on my parties attended page with your theme list above. I'll now be ready for the 2nd Tuesday in August! My personal favorite room is our dinning room. It's literally in the center of our home. Being an old farmhouse, each renovation it had was added on one end of the house or other. I'm thinking in the beginning, the dinning room was once the living room.
    Have a fun week.

    1. There are days, like today, where it's not feasible (we have tons of excess smoke from the Canadian wildfires) but any time I can I make sure to take at least 20 minutes to enjoy it.

  31. I'm always jealous of your porch view! I wish we had more space in our primary bedroom for a seating area...I would love that.

  32. I knew it!! I knew your summer favorite room would be your patio!! It is spectacular. I like that your basement and family room with their wood burning heat/fireplace are so cozy in the winter. Your bedroom must be huge to accommodate the chairs and your craft space. I have a teeny little loft area outside our bedroom where I craft. Need to get to where I write and read up there, too. It is cozy.

    1. We do have a very large bedroom. It's the size of our kitchen minus all the cabinets so it's quite spacious.
