Botanical Garden Photos
Alec, Evan, and I went to the New England Botanic Gardens at Tower Hill last week. We try to go each summer as they often have some sort of art exhibit (or 2) that goes along with all the beautiful flowering plants. This year they had Glass in Flight-- giant metal and stained glass sculptures in all sorts of bug and bird shapes.
The gardens stretch over an area roughly 200 acres in size so every trip is just a little bit different as we rarely try to see everything in one go. Last Tuesday, when we went, thunderstorms were predicted for the afternoon so we went in the morning while it was overcast & there was a really nice breeze which was just perfect for wandering. Most of the rain held off for the 2 hours we were there.
We were mere steps away from the car heading into the building when I realized my camera battery was dead so I had to make do with my phone camera the whole day.

| They had beautiful oil paintings by one artist displayed in a hallway inside and I loved that they were all painted throughout various months/days using this very garden as inspiration |

Love the Nikon pics with that lovely zoom capability but your camera phone took some really good photos as well :). What a gorgeous place! The glass sculptures are so whimsical and just lovely to look at in photos- they must be even cooler to see in real life. Of course the flowers are amazing- their rich colors and variety of textures and shapes. The artwork is so neat too. Thanks for sharing your pics!

DeleteWe have a new botanical garden here that I want to go to. Sometimes they have events but I think I want to see it how it normally is first.

ReplyDeleteIt really was and we picked a pretty perfect day for it too. Even though it ended up raining the cloudy skies kept us nice and cool.

DeleteI hope this exhibit will come to our botanical gardens! I love it: it is really cool and different. So far, I think my favorite at ours has been the giant trolls, but the origami sculpures were cool too.

I don't think we've seen the giant trolls or origami sculptures here. So far our favorites were the year they had these flowy ribbon sculptures that not only were in vibrant color schemes but made the coolest sounds as they moved in the wind.

DeleteThis post is so full of beauty. It would be hard to pick a favorite sculpture. I did love the grasshopper. And did I spot a firefly? And a moth? I love both!
ReplyDeleteYep, they had a firefly, a moth, a bird, a praying mantis or two, some dragonflies, some butterflies, the hummingbirds... beetles... basically all kinds of things.

DeleteEvan’s Nikon photos are gorgeous, but your phone images turned out beautifully as well. The sculptures look so imaginative, and I can only imagine how stunning they must be in person. The flowers and paintings together make the garden feel like a living art gallery.

DeleteThe New England Botanical Gardens is a lovely spot! I love the blooms and sculptures and how they compliment each other! We have a membership to the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum and it looks like they share reciprocity with the New England gardens. I'll have to remember that when we venture east next summer!
