Utah Trip By The Numbers
I've always wanted to write one of these fun "by the numbers" wrap up of a vacation but usually blank on what numbers/facts to include-- but not this time!
8-- total days we were gone
7-- total nights we were gone
4- flights taken to and from Utah; Providence to Midway, Midway to Salt Lake City, then the same flights in reverse
1,253- total number of miles we drove in Utah with our car rental
5-- National Parks visited (Zion, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, Arches, & Canyonlands)
2-- State parks visited (Dead Horse Point & Red Canyon)
4-- trips to the grocery store
0-- number of ice cream dishes/cones I ate
7-- Number of restaurants we tried for the first time
7-- Number of restaurants we'd go back to a second time! The food was fantastic everywhere we went
2-- Number of times we had to stop for cows IN the road
646-- Total number of photos Evan and I took combined (not counting those blurry or duplicate/deleted ones)
1- The number of times we had to go looking for a fob battery because our rental key fob stopped working. It's also the number of time we set off the car alarm "breaking" in with the actual key.
80-- the speed limit on most roads in Utah
15--Total trails hiked
2-- The number of hikes we didn't "finish"
16.2-- total miles hiked
15-- PB&J sandwiches made
5-- Nutella and Jelly sandwiches made (Alec doesn't eat Peanut butter)
2-- Times we packed our lunches and didn't eat them in any park
3-- Places we slept-- an AirB&B in Moab, an AirB&B in Panguitch, and a hotel in Salt Lake City
4-- Books I read/listened to on the trip
89-- Highest temp we saw all week (Moab)
34-- Lowest temp of the week (Panguitch)
9,115-- feet above sea level at Rainbow Point in Bryce Canyon (our highest elevation of the trip not including flights, of course).
3,855-- lowest elevation of our trip in Springdale just outside Zion
306- feet of the longest arch in America (that we got to see)
1,600+-- years old; the oldest tree we saw on our trip (Bryce Canyon)

I bet you had the best time! Just reading some of the places you mentioned sends me right back to when I went there. Goosebumps! Ruth@playworkeatrepeat
ReplyDeleteWe really did have an amazing time and I thought of you when we saw the narrows and all the people kitted out in their walking gear.
DeleteOh my gosh does this sound like a wonderful trip- you covered so much ground! The only question I have, though, is how come no ice cream? Ha! Can't wait to read more about this!
ReplyDeleteI had a really bad reaction to the delicious mousse cake and pretty much avoided all dairy for the entire rest of the trip.
DeleteNo ice cream? I am concerned! You all got some mileage in! Wow! It sounds like an amazing trip!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think my body is telling me I need to give up dairy for good. I figure now that I'm back home I'll give it another try but I got so sick after eating my delicious triple layer mousse cake.
DeleteSo fun! And how nice that all the restaurants were really good.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what it is but it seems like so many food places near these parks and hiking trips end up being SO SO good!
DeleteThat's a lot of miles, but equally a lot of national parks visited. But why no ice cream??
ReplyDeleteI think I'm allergic to dairy and didn't want to chance any adverse reactions when we were going to be on the road so much.
DeleteThat's a lot of miles but I'm sure it was fabulous!
ReplyDeleteIt sure was!
DeleteI can no longer eat dairy and do miss it. Whipped cream is like heaven to me. #MMVC
ReplyDeleteI loved this recap told through numbers! Sounds like you had a fabulous - and memorable - trip!
