It's the first Wednesday of the month and time for Currently with Amy. This month we're sharing what we're planting or hatching, cleaning, eating and drinking, reading and watching, & loving.
Planting or hatching (literal or figurative – like planting an idea or hatching a plan)-- It's far too early to plant anything here but Alec does have huge plans for a big garden this summer. My husband and him built some raised garden beds over December break and I know he's been pouring through seed catalogs. So eventually when it warms up enough we'll be planting all sorts of things.
Cleaning (spring)-- I don't really do any extra cleaning for spring other than cleaning up all the outdoor things/stuff when it's finally warm enough. I can't wait to pull out all our patio and deck furniture!
Eating and drinking-- I've been drinking water and eating...
 |
| omelette with homemade English muffins and grapes |
 |
| Parmesan salmon, butternut squash, asparagus, & roasted potatoes |
 |
| orange chicken with rice |
 |
| Pork chops, baked potato, & acorn squash |
 |
| fruit, nonfat plain Greek yogurt, & granola (occasionally with a sprinkle of chocolate chips too) |
Reading and watching-- Reading:How to End a Love Story, The Friend Zone, This Book Made Me Think of You, & You Never know. Watching: DMV, Best Medicine, Greek, & Memory of a Killer.
Loving-- In the last 2 weeks I've managed to get out hiking 3 times! My husband and I also had a really lovely date night this past weekend. We checked out The Bedford at Foxwoods. It was pretty good (but not worth the price). Luckily the company was top notch!
 |
| Caesar salad |
 |
| filet |
 |
| smashed/loaded potato (a side we split) |
 |
| then we ended the night at Haagen Das |

That's exciting about Alec's garden! I hope he gets a lot of produce and enjoys the process a lot, too. There's something about planting a tiny seed and watching a plant emerge and then seeing fruit or vegetables emerge from the plant and then consuming the vegetable that is so satisfying! Your meal out looks really good! Love a good steak at a restaurant :).
ReplyDeleteI'm a little nervous because he's going to be gone for a few weeks in summer and I feel like that will leave me in charge... and I don't do well with keeping plants alive.
DeleteOh my gosh I am so excited about Alec's garden! Any idea of what he wants to plant just yet? Maybe I can hire him to plant one for me that will actually grow? Ha! Love the looks of some of the books you have read- adding them to my list- thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI don't really know what he plans to plan but I know he's been buying seeds already.
DeleteYour food all looks so good in this post. I finally made my Easter menu. I'm just not super inspired this week!
ReplyDeleteGreat job hiking three times!
I wish for spring weather for you very soon!
Thanks!
DeleteA big garden sounds so appealing to me, but we don't have the right sort of lot for one. We do a lot of pots though and they're easy to move around for watering if we're away. That's another reason we don't have a big garden. I feel like you need to be home to tend it. Looking forward to seeing you soon!
ReplyDeleteWe don't have a great yard for planting as we have lots of shade and I am just not great at keeping plants alive; mostly because I'd far rather go on vacation and then I forget to water them even when I am home.
DeleteThat parmesan salmon looks so good! I love how you end fun nights with ice cream! I found a place in NC that will hopefully be good.
ReplyDeleteYum! I can't wait.
DeleteI have planned at least three times to get my chair out in our little garden. Every day it started raining 😂 Maybe I should just do it instead of planning it.
ReplyDeleteGood luck for spring weather!
We've had lots and lots of rain too; I did manage to make it out for a hike this morning between showers.
DeleteI'm kind of sad that they're cancelling DMV after this season. I don't necessarily think it's a GREAT show, but it is a nice little break from all of the heavy of the world & the intense/drama shows that are out there.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I can't say it's the best show I've ever seen but it is really cute and a nice break/escape from life. It makes me laugh and that's about all I look for in a show nowadays.
DeleteOhh! You will have to share what Alec is up to in the garden. Happy planting!
ReplyDeleteWhat you eat always looks so good and it looks like a great date night.
Aw, thank you!
DeleteWoohoo... hiking time! I am glad you got some hiking in. Also, your date night sounds so nice!!!! Your food always looks so good. I am now hungry!
ReplyDeleteThanks! It has been wonderful to squeeze in more hikes and this week I've even started noticing buds on our trees!
DeleteYay for hiking!! Its almost too.hot here now.
ReplyDeleteXoox

Today it hit 70 and it felt great!
DeleteOne of our neighbors has a raised garden which is a good idea because our neighborhood seems to be overly populated with bunnies! I'm looking forward to taking some walks when I can trust Mike not to do something he shouldn't!

We're putting in one large raised bed too and my husband plans to put a domed mesh "tent" over it to keep birds and deer out as well.
DeleteDelicious food photos! Gerben takes care of our garden, I'm not good with plants, nor flowers.
ReplyDeleteMe neither; my husband often jokes that if we had to grow our own food we would all starve. I am clueless when it comes to plants.
DeleteYour meals always look so delicious. Too cold to plant here, too, but like Alec, I've been dreaming about the garden!
ReplyDeleteThank you!

ReplyDeleteGreat food photos!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteThe food looks delicious. The date night does look lovely. We also love doing something special like that every now and then. I look forward to reading about the garden. How exciting!!

Thank you!
DeleteSounds like you'll have a lovely garden. My husband is the one at are our home too who does the gardening.
ReplyDeleteThat's lovely! I do love having garden fresh veggies but never have the patience to take care of a garden.
DeleteAll your food looks so good. I also read The Friend Zone. I look forward to hearing more about your garden. Thank you for linking up with #MonthlyWrapup.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteGlad you kids had a lovely date night. Prices for eating out (and eating in, for that matter) are just ridiculous. We can't have McD's for less than $20 for the two of us these days. I am tired of cooking but hate spending a lot of money to go out to eat, too. Dang it!!
ReplyDeleteYour home cooked meals always look delicious. And there's your famous yogurt breakfast. Mmmmm. I am enjoying that several times a week these days. And now we can start sitting outside with our yogurt!!
I have just started This Book Made Me Think of You. So good.
Thank you! I enjoy cooking... I hope to be able to start sitting outside with my breakfast in the next month or two.
DeleteI loved The Friend Zone and all of her books! I hope you love it, too!
ReplyDeleteI did! Her books are always a hit.
