Cards and Scrapbook Pages I Made in April

 I made an anniversary card, a birthday card, and then played around with my new stamp that Joyce gifted me in North Carolina. I also made some graduation cards for next month and a "new home" card for my brother (who picks up his keys tomorrow). 








I didn't think I was going to have any scrapbook pages again this month and then one day I cranked out all these pages while Evan was at work! I'm pretty much caught up until I order some more photos.

    The stamp made some pretty cards. I like it in both black and white and color. I also love the Wicked pages. The colors are perfect!

Tomorrow is the last Saturday of the month and time for Share 4 Somethings with Jenn. This year we're sharing something we loved, something that sustained us, something we're carrying forward, and something we're making space for each month.    Something I loved: Our new patio-- Ian (and myself, Evan, and my husband) worked on putting in a small patio for our generator and Ian's new fuel tank/pump to sit on. 15 Family Restaurant Games

When my boys were little and we'd take them out to eat I kept a small bag of toys in the car to grab on our way into any restaurant.  That way they would be entertained and a bit quieter while we enjoyed our meal. Now that the boys are older we don't keep a bag of toys handy but we do have few games we use to keep the boys occupied if they start getting bored or squirmy while we're waiting for our food or our check. While there are many phone apps, portable gaming systems and electronic games that could occupy my kids we prefer to use the time together at restaurants to connect with one another and so we tend to play games like: Hangman--   any restaurant that has paper place mats works well for this.  We take turns picking  a word and drawing our hangman stand then take turns calling out letters and seeing if we can solve the puzzle.   Tic Tac Toe-- This works best with pen on paper place mats but we have played making a grid with butter knives ...

Hodgepodge Wednesdays: Earth Day Edition

 It's Wednesday and that means Hodgepodge with Joyce!  1. April 22nd is Earth Day...what's the most 'out of this world' place on earth you've ever visited? Tell us something about it.  The most "out of this world" place I've visited so far is Haleakala on the island of Maui. We truly felt like we had walked out onto a different planet. You can't see it much in the photos but we could see a whole rainbow of photos in the various sand colors. Though volcanoes national park was a close second- that cracked lava black ground hardly looks real and we happened to catch the park on a day the volcano was erupting too.  2. A favorite quote, verse, or song lyric with the word earth in it?  copied from OneTreePlanted (here) - they have some neat quotes about Earth/nature! 3. What's the most trivial thing about which you have a strong opinion?  This is actually quite a list-- but probably the most trivial is... squeezing the toothpaste tube from the botto...

Favorite TV Shows Growing Up in the 80's and early 90's

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. And through the years I had SO MANY favorites! Growing pains aired in 1985 which put me around age 8 and it stayed on the air until I was 15 or so; I'm pretty sure most people in my age group watched mostly for Kirk Cameron and all his antics.  I still have a soft spot for family sit-coms!  The Facts of Life aired when I was just 2  and stayed on the air until I was 11 so I'm sure the episodes I remember so fondly were either some of the later ones and then reruns shown later on when I was old enough to watch from the beginning. The Biltmore Estate in Asheville North Carolina

I have wanted to see The Biltmore Estate for as long as I can remember. We even debated about tacking a day onto our Smoky Mountain trip and taking a side trip (about 5 hours) to head there. I was all for it but the rest of my family thought that was a bit much. So when I heard our blogging weekend was going to be in Asheville I was hopeful that I might finally make it there... and I did!  Some fast facts about the Biltmore; it encompasses 8,000 of the original 125,000 acres the gardens take up 75 of those acres and there are 22 miles of trail to explore  the house is 175,000 square feet of living space with 250 rooms those 250 rooms include 35 bedrooms, 43 bathrooms (with indoor plumbing- not usual at the time of construction), & 65 fireplaces it was built with 288 electric light fixtures, 2 electric elevators there is a gym, a swimming pool, a bowling alley and more it is the largest privately owned home in the United States  Construction of the house took 6 years ...
