Talking About it Tuesday #110

Well, after another canceled flight, several flight delays, and switching airlines Evan and I finally arrived home Saturday morning at 2 am. I don't think I have ever been so happy to be back from a trip before. I am just so thankful that we had family to fall back on because I can not imagine what our trip would have been like or what it would have cost if we hadn't had them to stay with! I used the weekend to try and get caught up on all the things-- laundry, groceries, blogging, etc.

    Glad you made it home and had family to host you while you waited! We had a bad experience with American Airlines in 2019 coming back from Europe and have never flown with them again. Delays, having to stay at a hotel, just the way they handled it...

      I have been saying we'll probably never use them again too; I agree that they just handled ALL of it so poorly-- my "full refund" was less than $200 for flights for the 2 of us?! I mean come on I could NEVER find a flight for $100 each!

    Glad you made it home. Right now, my husband's co-worker is stuck in Dubai. He took a trip to Africa for vacation and had a layover in Dubai, which closed its airspace DURING his layover due to the attacks from Iran. I can't imagine a more expensive place to be stuck! UG! It's funny how you appreciate the small things like laundry and blogging once you can do them again. :) Thanks so much for hosting this lovely linkup!       Oh goodness; I feel so bad for him. All I kept thinking all week was thank goodness we got "stuck" at my parent's home and not in an airport somewhere!

      Just as soon as we took off down the runway in North Carolina I felt a huge rush of relief knowing we were finally headed home and I could stop thinking about it.

When my boys were little and we'd take them out to eat I kept a small bag of toys in the car to grab on our way into any restaurant.  That way they would be entertained and a bit quieter while we enjoyed our meal. Now that the boys are older we don't keep a bag of toys handy but we do have few games we use to keep the boys occupied if they start getting bored or squirmy while we're waiting for our food or our check. Favorite TV Shows Growing Up in the 80's and early 90's

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. And through the years I had SO MANY favorites! Growing pains aired in 1985 which put me around age 8 and it stayed on the air until I was 15 or so; I'm pretty sure most people in my age group watched mostly for Kirk Cameron and all his antics.  I still have a soft spot for family sit-coms!  The Facts of Life aired when I was just 2  and stayed on the air until I was 11 so I'm sure the episodes I remember so fondly were either some of the later ones and then reruns shown later on when I was old enough to watch from the beginning. Share Our Lives: My Favorite Cleaning Products

It's the second Monday and time for Share Our Lives. The monthly link up where we share snippets of our lives. This month we're talking about our favorite cleaning products.  I took photos of cleaning products as I used them and am sharing them in no particular order.  I use Dawn dish soap as a stain remover for our laundry. It works particularly well with kitchen oil/ salad dressing stains.  I don't, however, use it on our dishes.  This (or All Free & Clear) is our usual laundry detergent.  We use this in our dishwasher. And this is what we use on our dishes when washing by hand (also what we use on our countertop and table).  I use white vinegar for so much-- I water it down to use on our floors in our refillable mop, I add 1 cup to the laundry when I want to remove odors (like with our towels). Cleans windows/glass without streaks, I mix it with salt and use it on weeds..  Baking soda is also used to boost laundry detergent. I sprinkle it in pan...

Bloggers Weekend in Asheville Days 1 & 2

This was our 3rd annual bloggers weekend ( year 1 was Nashville here , year 2 was Louisville here ) and we planned to meet in Asheville, North Carolina. I was the only one flying in... and it was not easy finding flights into Asheville! My first day was spent traveling, as was everyone else's. Jenn texted in the morning that she was sick and had to back out. We were all disappointed.  I left for the airport before lunch and landed in Asheville around 6:30 after a long layover in Atlanta. I walked the terminal to get in some extra steps and picked up a really delicious sandwich for a late lunch/ early dinner.   Maria had kindly offered to pick me up and we met up with the other ladies at our AirB&B that Marilyn found us by 7.   Marilyn and Tanya put out quite a spread and Maria added some goodies too. Vegetable Stir- Fry with Zoodles

This is another one of those recipes where I really just tell you some of the amounts and ingredients used because, honestly, we never make it quite the same way twice! I use whatever vegetables I happen to have on hand and mix it up with different seasonings and things too. Sometimes we add in a protein like chick peas (like we did today) other times it might be diced firm tofu, it really is a very adaptable recipe and up to you.   I tend to only make these zoodle & vegetable stir-frys when Alec will be around since he and I are the only two that eat it! I don't care though because I just love it! Other than the chopping and prepping the vegetables; which I tend to do in the morning.
