Highlights & Favorites: A Sentence a Day February 2026

Well, I feel pretty safe in saying this is one February we're never going to forget! With a record breaking blizzard that hit at the end of the month and stranded Evan and I down in North Carolina for 3+ additional/unplanned days it sure ended with a bang. 

1. Thankful for a lazy day with no plans. A lazy day watching TV and resting around the house. 2,483 steps. 

2. So thankful to get out of the house and enjoy some shopping. Gym, school with Evan, library (that was STILL closed; the heating has been broke for nearly a week now), Target, Lowe's, home to work on housework & cards. 9,239 steps.  


3. So thankful the stomach pains subsided a few hours after returning home from yoga. Attempted yoga at the gym, came home 1/2 way through feeling sick and spent a lazy day on the computer and watching TV; rallied in the afternoon to clean the upstairs and make dinner. 3,139 steps. 


 4. So thankful for a delicious lunch out with my mother in law and son. Gym, housework. lunch with my mother in law & Evan at Mill Town Grill, then blogging and a nice walk to the mailbox and back. 9,355 steps. 

5. So thankful to talk on the phone with my mom in the afternoon & to get to go to the library for the first time in a week (after their power stopped working). Spent the day cleaning house, kicked out the maids we never ordered that just let themselves in (yep, it was weird and crazy-- turns out they wanted the house up the road from us), talked with my mom, and went to the library! 4,080 steps.


6.  So thankful to see Alec for about an hour or so while he zipped in and zipped out. Gym, home to clean some more, worked on the blog until Alec swung by, then read until dinnertime. 6,792 steps.

 7. So thankful Ian was able to pick Evan up from work while he was out plowing. We woke to snow but headed out grocery shopping regardless then ended up driving Evan to work since the roads were even worse by then (and my car is awful in the snow so Ben took him in his truck; I kept company), then spent the rest of the day napping and reading by the fire. 3,817 steps.

8. Thankful for a productive crafting day. I spent the freezing cold day working in my craft room on some cards while listening to an audiobook and making sure the wood stove was well stocked.  3,296 steps.





9. Thankful for some great books and that I was able to get my hands on the 3rd Vacation Mysteries book through NetGalley. Gym, school with Evan, drove with my brother to the shop to get his truck worked on, made some cards and scrapbook pages then drove my brother to (unsuccessfully!) pick up a rental vehicle for the week. 6,174 steps.

10. So thankful for a fabulous yoga class. Yoga, a quick grocery store run then home to make a salad and cut up fruit, I spent most of the day with my nose buried in a book. 5,000 steps.  



11. So thankful to break out my watercolors again. Woke to more snow but headed off to the Gym as normal despite the awful roads, spent my afternoon painting and crafting and watching ALL the icicles and lots of snow melt as temps reached into the 40's! 6,626 steps.

and ended up working out an entire watercolor painting-- not bad for not having practiced with watercolors in a long time. 

12. So thankful I can borrow my mother in law's car whenever I need it! Spent my morning working on the blog, reading, relaxing, then drove my brother to get his truck and ran a few errands with my mother in law's car since Evan had mine at work.  4,813 steps. 

13. So thankful for a fun afternoon catching up with friends. Gym, school with Evan, made granola bars and no-bake peanut butter bars before Evan and I headed out to hang with our favorite hiking family for the afternoon; it was so nice catching up with them then my husband picked up take out for dinner so I didn't even need to cook. 6,050 steps.  




14. Thankful for a lovely day indoors. Grocery shopping, scrapbooking, talked menu/grocery ideas with my mom for our trip. 4,695 steps. 


15.Thankful for such a creative day. Spent the morning in the kitchen, the afternoon in the craftroom, and then worked on a puzzle and painted my nails. 2,361 steps. 







 16. So thankful to have met this mom and son so many years ago at the children's museum of all places; they are THE BEST! A wonderful and fabulous day that started with a gym workout and ended with lunch and a mini college tour with some wonderful friends. 9,225 steps.

17. Thankful my hairdresser was able to squeeze me in today.Yoga, a haircut, then an afternoon spent reading under the electric blanket. 2,637 steps.  

18. So thankful the rain wasn't more snow. It was a rainy, foggy day but I ran to the gym, did some housework, and finished my latest painting. 7,080 steps. 

19. So thankful for these quiet, restful, winter days. Another day cleaning the house, reading, watching TV, etc. 3,642 steps. 


20. So thankful the upset stomach I woke with was short lived. I skipped the gym in favor of running errand and then Evan and I left late afternoon to head to the hotel near the airport, stopping to eat dinner on the way. 4,774 steps.

 21. So thankful (in hindsight!) that we drove to the airport and parked in the parking garage. Flew to North Carolina on 2 short but turbulent flights then met my parents at the airport, headed for a late breakfast/ early lunch and stopped to see my sister for a bit. 4,730 steps.

22. So thankful to get to see the WHOLE family while we were down. My mom had the whole family (my mom & step father, both sisters with their husbands and 4 kids, my aunt and uncle) over to visit from 2-9pm we all grabbed, laughed, and ate. 6,126 steps.  


Evan and I started our day with a walk around their neighborhood.

 


23. So thankful we had a place to stay with my parents while waiting for a new plane ride home. A blizzard hit at home and our flights were canceled for the 24th but Evan and I headed out with my parents to see nearby towns and houses then toured the Bellamy mansion and ended our night playing Perfect Sense. 3,488 steps.

Playing Perfect Sense 

24. Thankful for a quick trip to the art museum for some creative inspiration. We decided to visit the Cameron Art Museum with my sister and nephew, went for lunch at the cotton exchange, then ended our night playing another round of perfect sense. 2,304 steps.

  

 

25. Thankful for a lovely nature walk and to get in some real exercise and outdoor time. We walked my parents neighborhood in the morning then hiked with my aunt in the afternoon before stopping for a late lunch/ early dinner at Pizettas and ending our night playing Trivia Adventure.  Over 12,000 steps according to my mom's tracker as mine died without my charging cord. 

  



26. Thankful for a delightful afternoon of game playing. Evan made plans to spend the afternoon with his cousin playing video games while my aunt and uncle came to play games at my mom's house.

27. So thankful after several messages about delays with our existing flight that we were able to switch to Breeze airlines and get a flight out late at night (with a promised refund from our existing flight!). With a whole rainy day to kill we headed out bowling, visited with my sister's family, ate dinner and got the airport for 7:45... only to find our flight was delayed until 11!

 28. SO THANKFUL to be HOME!! Evan and I arrived home at 2 am, crawled into bed and slept until 8 or 9 then spent our day getting caught up on all the laundry and household tasks.

  1. The snow sure looks pretty (your photos are lovely!) but man, does it wreak havoc. Love the nature shots and the pictures of your crafts. You had a great month, getting stuck in North Carolina notwithstanding. Like you said, it could have been so much worse. You got to make a lot more memories with family and you'll be talking about this trip for years and years!
