10 on the 10th & Hodgepodge Wednesday Mid March Edition
Since yesterday was the 10th but I already had 2 posts for Tuesday I decided to combine Marsha's 10 on the 10th with Joyce's Hodgepodge Wednesday.
Marsha's prompt this month is going to be so easy for me! List 10 things you like about spring!! After our long cold, snowy winter I am SO SO ready for spring. Honestly the only thing I don't like about spring is that it tends to start out really muddy (with all that snow and ice melting) and the pollen can get real bad... but those are such small prices to pay for sunshine and warmth!
1. The clothes; No more winter jackets! I love walking around with just a sweater or sweatshirt. I think spring clothes are so much cuter and can not wait to wear them!
2. By middle to end of spring when the majority of our snow has melted it's time for me to break out my flip flops. I just LOVE flip flops.
3. Flowers start to bloom and trees start budding... our grass slowly turns green. I love seeing these renewed signs of life.
4. The days are lighter for longer periods of time and the sun is warmer.
5. I get to start eating breakfast or lunch outside again.
6. It's hiking season! I have missed my weekly hikes so much and have a huge list of ones I want to tackle.
7. Alec finishes up college and we typically take some sort of a family trip in spring. This year we are headed to Utah and I can not wait!
8. No more shoveling snow, no more de-icing the front walk and chipping away at it with a shovel, no more worrying about having to warm up my car or scrape the windshield.
9. Driving with the sunroof open!

10. We see more of my family as my parents come north for the spring/summer.
1. Are you a naturally trusting person? Is trust built on logic or 'gut instinct'? Does everyone deserve a second chance? Elaborate.
I really am not a trusting person--I am naturally skeptical of most people and my poor husband had to work like crazy to get me to truly trust him. I think second chances really depend a lot on what the person did the first time around. I will give second chances most of the time.
2. 'Beware the Ides of March'...March 15th on the ancient Roman calendar, these words were made famous by William Shakespeare in his play Julius Caesar. Caesar was assassinated on March 15th 44 B.C. Have you read any Shakespeare? If so, do you have a favorite? Have you ever been to Rome?
I have never been a Shakespeare fan and the only ones I've ever read were assigned in school. I don't have a favorite and I've never been to Rome. It's not really even on my "list" while I'd love to see so many parts of Italy Rome has never really held much appeal to me.
So far my favorite "based on" Shakespeare story has been & Juliet. I loved that musical!
3. Do you like a Caesar salad? If given the choice between a garden/house salad or Caesar which do you order? Anchovies or no? What's your favorite salad dressing?
I love Caesar Salads! But I can't say I'll always pick it. I don't like anchovies though.
I'm not sure I have a favorite dressing either; it often depends on what's IN the salad as to what kind of dressing I use.

4. Where do you typically work (or blog if that's easier) at home? Do you have a dedicated home office space? Are you happy with that space?
Since I blog on my laptop I pretty much blog anywhere-- in bed, on the couch, sitting at the kitchen table, outside. It just depends on my mood.
5. Snow drops, daffodils, lenten roses, crocus, hyacinth, or early tulips...what's your favorite early Spring flower?
Gosh I really love just about any flower; particularly those that bloom so early after a long winter. I hadn't heard (or seen) lenten roses before but the online photos look pretty too. I guess if I had to pick one I'd say tulips but hyacinth are a real close second.
| Tulips were my wedding flowers and they remind me of our spring trip to the tulip Farm too |
6. Insert your own random thought here.
I started writing both Alec's and Evan's dates for next school year on my calendar and saw that they start classes on the exact same day. I'm hoping and praying they don't have the same move in day as well!

Dropping in from the Hodgepodge. Enjoyed your post and all the photos.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteNo more winter jackets sounds really good!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't it? We had some warm weather for 2 days this week and it felt wonderful to not have a coat on.
DeleteI agree about the salad dressing kind of depending on what type of salad it is! So many great things about spring. I'm glad your weather has given you some nice days; even though we know many days will still be cold, it's nice to experience some warm ones. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteIt was wonderful to get outside and walk-- even if it was a bit icy and I did fall a time or two.
DeleteI can relate to all of your favorite things about spring- yes please and need them all NOW- ha! Praying your boys have different move-in dates- can sympathize!
ReplyDeleteThese last couple of days of nice weather have given me major spring fever!
DeleteI am so looking forward to spring too! I love everything about it apart from the mud and flip flops.
ReplyDeleteI am not a big Shakespeare fan either, I think school put me off. I love the soundtrack from & Juliet.
Those salads look so good and I love all of the spring flowers, any bit of colour is good after the winter.
Yes, I am all for any color nature wants to throw at me after a long dreary winter.
DeleteYou can't be too places at once - hope they have different move in dates, too. But I did find as juniors mine wanted no help! We were in the same city, though. So, that is different.
ReplyDeleteI am so particular about my salads. I want them finely chopped, perfect ratio of dressing and in a big enough bowl that I can move it around. Ha!
I have warned Alec if that happens he'll be on his own since Freshman trumps Junior. He can't fit everything he wants to bring in just his car though so we were thinking we'd take both cars this year (as his list for next year has already grown!).
DeleteI so agree that spring clothes are cuter!! I have been loving wearing all my fun and bright clothes lately! Although it's supposed to get cold again next week- boo!
ReplyDeleteYeah we had 2 nice days and now it's going to be real cold again. But at least those few warm days melted lots of the snow and I can start to see grass poking up here and there.
DeleteI must say that I agree - spring clothes are cuter!!
ReplyDeleteAren't they just? I mean I love sweaters when fall rolls around but I feel like I have way cuter clothes for spring.
DeleteI love your reasons for loving spring. I think move in days can sometimes be adjusted when you have more than one to manage!
ReplyDeleteThat's good to know!
DeleteYay for spring!! I'm right there with you for all the same reasons. I hope this warm weather sticks!! Oh and I'm not a fan of anchovies, either.
ReplyDeleteI highly doubt this warm weather will stick but I hoping for it to anyway!
DeleteIt's funny because it's probably warm enough here that I don't need a winter jacket. But I will still pull out my jackets if I can because I know I can't wear them for the next six months.
ReplyDeleteXoxo
Jodie
Even in the dead of winter I hardly ever wear a winter coat. I have the bulkiness of them so much.
DeleteI'm definitely a skeptic. Good word for it. Right now I'm a bit skeptical that hiking weather and/or flip flop weather is here to stay. But, fingers crossed!!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you! I can pretty much guarantee that hiking and flip flop weather is not here to stay.. in fact we still can't hike and while I COULD have worn flip flops yesterday it is still much too wet and muddy to want to wear them just yet.
DeleteI wish we lived close!!! I would love a hiking buddy at times. :) I am also so excited it is HIKING SEASON!!!!!! I love your outfits! Oh, I also love a good breakfast outdoors. :)
ReplyDeleteThat would be great; all my hiking buddies keep moving away!
DeleteIt's hard to believe it's time to start thinking about the next school year. It will be my first year EVER not to have myself or a kid entering a new school year.
ReplyDeleteOh I bet that is going to feel quite different!
DeleteI look forward to getting out on more hikes here soon too. I struggle with the pollen which is generally at it's worst late March-mid April so that's always a consideration for me. I love pretty much all salads, but caesar is probably my favorite. I hope the move-in dates work out for you to help with both. My girls went to the same university which was a bonus in terms of breaks and moving in and out. Have a great day Joanne!
ReplyDeleteOur pollen hits more in June; at times our entire shoreline is an entirely different color. I typically start taking allergy meds early in April in the hopes of fending off the worst of it.
DeleteI always enjoy your 10 on the 10th posts—they’re such a fun peek into your everyday life. It sounds like a busy mix of errands, gym time, and getting things done around the house!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteUtah sounds like a fun trip! I am not a big fan of dressings, but I do like Poppyseed dressing. Yay for spring!
ReplyDeleteI like dressings served on the side so I can add my own as I don't like much on my salad but I do like many kinds of dressing.
DeleteLots of fun answers and cute outfits. Caesar is my favorite. And I do enjoy learning more about you in these posts!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteTemperatures have dropped around here, and I'm even back to wearing my big winter coat!
ReplyDeleteUs too! It's a high in the 30's today with flurries possible.
DeleteI love everything you love about spring too! I am not a huge fan of Shakespeare so Romeo and Juliet would be my answer as well. Can't wait to hear more about your Utah trip!

Aw, thank you!
DeleteI love most of the same things about spring - the photo of the tree-lined walking trail is beautiful and just sings "spring"!
ReplyDeleteI landed on tulips as my favorite too. If I'd had a spring wedding I would have had tulips for my bouquet, and I did ask about having them but eventually decided against it. But I love having tulips in the house!
Hope you're having a great week and enjoying spring!
We just walked that trail this week-- and it was definitely not "spring" with ice and snow and bare trees but it's a fun one that really lets us see that change so quickly!
DeleteYour answers were fun. I'm late getting around to commenting. I am so ready for spring!! We have had what they are calling an atmospheric river and there is a lot of flooding. I'm ready for it to be done.
ReplyDeleteOh that sounds awful. Flooding is quite scary.
DeleteI'm sorry I'm so late commenting! Life has been getting in the way! I love all your answers except the sun roof. I just never have liked them...something about the whooshing and pressure on my ears.

I 100% understand! Your life has been busy lately for sure.
