Favorite Moments, Photos, and Memories of 2025

2025 was another wonderful year for our family. We had lots of fun moments and memories and I love starting off our new year with a little look back at some of those that stand out the most! 

In January we.. 

Celebrated Ian's college graduation!


Had a birthday party for Alec


And went to the Van Gogh exhibit.


In February..

Evan and I toured one last college; it sure was interesting the day after a huge snow storm hit!

Alec and I went to see & Juliet; we LOVED the show so much.


In March 

We met up with friends over Alec's spring break for a lovely (if cold!) hike. 


We also went to the botanical garden's orchid show. 

We took the younger two boys to see OVO; it was a wonderful Cirque Du Soleil show! 

And went to the Aquarium over Evan's spring break.


in April

Ian turned 21!


I went to Louisville with "the girls."


and we moved Alec home from college.


 In May

 We took the moms out for a delicious mother's day meal and really my whole Mother's day weekend was amazing!


 Alec and I went to see Shen Yun


 My husband and I enjoyed a fabulous day in Mystic to Celebrate our 24th anniversary.


 In June..

Alec, Ben and I headed to Acadia Maine:


I met Dara and her sweet, sweet family in person for a lovely day in Newport. 

My husband and I had another fabulous date night out at Foxwoods 

In July... 

We watched the 4th of July boat parade with my family


Spent the 5th (and 6th) of July with my husband's family at the lake. 

Celebrated my birthday! 


Went to Southwick's zoo to see the new baby cheetahs.
 

In August.. 

Alec, Evan and I went to see Back to the 80's musical with friends.


 Alec, Evan, my mom, and I went to the botanical garden

Alec moved into an on campus apartment


 In September:

My husband and I headed to Glacier National Park for a week's vacation. (I could NOT pick just one photo to sum up this amazing park!)

Evan turned 18! 

 Evan and I went to see 21 Pilots 

In October:

We celebrated my husband's birthday 

Alec and I went to see SIX


 Alec and I went to the Immersive Monet exhibit


 In November.. 

Alec, Evan and I went to see Hadestown 

Had a double date night at Foxwoods/ David Burke steakhouse (which burned down just 3 nights later!)

We celebrated Thanksgiving!


In December: 

Evan got accepted to all 3 colleges he applied to and picked Clark

they sent him a whole swag box

 We went to my husband's corporate Christmas party at Via; it was fun and delicious!

We celebrated Christmas brunch on the 21st with my father in law and his wife's family. 


Alec made us homemade almond croissants for Christmas breakfast; they were incredible. Our Christmas day was fabulous too.
 

We celebrated Alec's 20th birthday early since he doesn't plan to be home in January.

    Loved looking at your 2025 photos! Glacier National Park looks absolutely spectacular. You guys have the best national parks. Aww, that photo of you and your husband by the sign brought back so many memories for me. Ruth@playworkeatrepeat

      Aw, thank you! We really do have some beautiful national parks. We have plans to visit 4 more of them this year and I can't wait!

      It's been great for me having Alec living so close to the theater as he keeps me up on everything they have to offer all season long.

    Lovely recap of your year! I enjoyed following along when you wrote about these things (I´m working on a recap post and realized that I´d written about everything already but there´s something about a recap post that ties everything together!) as well.     I don't know that you could have packed anything else into your year. I love how you have such variety in what you do and where you go! You must be fairly close to several different venues. When plays or other productions come to Indianapolis, I always seem to miss getting tickets by just a little bit. 2025 was a wonderful year for you and your family!

When my boys were little and we'd take them out to eat I kept a small bag of toys in the car to grab on our way into any restaurant.  That way they would be entertained and a bit quieter while we enjoyed our meal. Now that the boys are older we don't keep a bag of toys handy but we do have few games we use to keep the boys occupied if they start getting bored or squirmy while we're waiting for our food or our check. Favorite TV Shows Growing Up in the 80's and early 90's

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. And through the years I had SO MANY favorites! Growing pains aired in 1985 which put me around age 8 and it stayed on the air until I was 15 or so; I'm pretty sure most people in my age group watched mostly for Kirk Cameron and all his antics.  I still have a soft spot for family sit-coms!  The Facts of Life aired when I was just 2  and stayed on the air until I was 11 so I'm sure the episodes I remember so fondly were either some of the later ones and then reruns shown later on when I was old enough to watch from the beginning. Things That Make Me Laugh

I loved the challenge of this week's list for our 26 lists link up.  I don't know about you but I really need to laugh more lately.  It's such a great stress reliever. 1.  Books-- I love a good funny book that makes me laugh out loud.  I haven't read one in a while but if you have any recommendations I'm all ears.  The last book I can remember making me laugh was the Un-Honeymooners. 2  The boys being silly. 3.  Watching shows like America's Funniest Videos or Family Feud. 4. My husband.  Most people don't realize it but he's actually pretty funny and often makes me laugh. 5.  Whenever my sisters/ family get together and we get to reminiscing (particularly if my Aunt Elaine is around) we end up laughing so hard at all the old family stories that we are all in tears by the end of the night.  It's fabulous. 6. Making Gift Card and Money Holders Using Scrapbooking and Cardmaking Supples

I don't tend to keep a lot of crafting supplies on hand so when I saw this month's de-stash challenge I wasn't sure what I was going to make.  I finally realized that with so many of my Christmas gifts being cash and gift cards this year that I needed to make up some fun paper crafting/ creative ways to gift them.   I still want my nieces and nephews to have something to open so I pulled out my papers and stamps and made up some cute little money/gift card holders. They were much easier to make than I thought.  The first one I worked on was to hold some oversized Nintendo gift cards.  I made a standard sized card and folded down one corner of the card front.  Then I ran my double sided tape along the bottom an 1/2 way up the side creating a cute little pocket.  Finally I added some cute embellishments and ribbons.   Voila! Each year near the end of December/ beginning of January I share the top 10 posts of the year but this year, in particular, I have noticed some much older posts that are still bringing in lots of pageviews and thought it would be fun to look back and see a top 10 list of all time.  I started my blog in June of 2012 and while so many of my first posts were long blocky, chunky rambles without any real photos of us and our family I just can't bring myself to delete any of them as I really do enjoy looking back and seeing how my blog has change and grown over time.
