Cards and Papercrafts I made in January 2026

These first few were technically made the last week of December but I was having too much fun with my new Christmas gifts and just had to share them here on the blog. I got a Betterpress Letterpress system and some new black ink pads. The system came with the floral plate and I already had the peacock since the plates can also be used with the hot foil system. 



 
 

I made Alec a cake topper for his birthday & a card too, of course

 



 


One snowy day in late January I started scrapbooking.. and made 9 pages in one day!

    I love all of the multi textured cards. They look so fancy. And your scrapbook pages are really good, too. January is definitely good for something- a "chance" to do indoor things. At least that's what I'm telling myself :).

    Those are beautiful! I'm not much of a crafter, so I have a questions. Do you color in the black printed cards at the beginning of the post? How did you make the cake topper? Is it a cricut? Have a great day!

      Aw, thank you! I did use alcohol markers to color in the images of the first 4 cards. I made the cake topper using my Cricut, yes. I cut one regular and one mirror image and then just glue the two together around a trimmed wooden grill skewer.

    My favorite part of the cards you make, is the variety! You don't employ a production line to make several that are the same. Very nice. #MMBC

      Aw, thank you so much! I typically only do that production line type of assembly at Christmas.. and even then I don't make them all exactly the same.

    I just love these! I haven't heard of the Letterpress but the results are just gorgeous. TOTALLY LOVE the fold-out photos on the Christmas page. So fun.     Ohhhhhh......you are so talented!!! I love making cards but they are nothing like this!!!!!! I love your scrapbooking pages too!!! I want to get back into it. It has been quite a few years since I have. I started making photo books because of time and just wanting to get pictures off my phone and actually in view for our family. But I sure miss a beautiful creative beauty of a scrapbook!!!

    Oh , my gosh, everything is so well done and lovely. The peacock card is spectacular. What are you coloring the cards with? Marker or colored pencil? Just beautiful. And 9 scrapbook pages in one sitting??? That would take me half the year!! High five!! Your pages look great. I think I overthink mine and it takes me forever to get a 2-page spread.

      I used alcohol blend markers for coloring in. The only ones I really dislike are the theater pages but I really couldn't come up with any other ideas.

Last Tuesday, September 30th, Evan and I had tickets to see 21 Pilots in concert in Hartford Ct. The show was at an indoor/outdoor venue called the Xfinity Center (not to be confused with the other indoor/outdoor Xfinitiy Center in Massachusetts). We had never been to the Xfinity Center and had no idea what to expect. Reviews online were not favorable but we really enjoyed it. 15 Family Restaurant Games

When my boys were little and we'd take them out to eat I kept a small bag of toys in the car to grab on our way into any restaurant.  That way they would be entertained and a bit quieter while we enjoyed our meal. Now that the boys are older we don't keep a bag of toys handy but we do have few games we use to keep the boys occupied if they start getting bored or squirmy while we're waiting for our food or our check. While there are many phone apps, portable gaming systems and electronic games that could occupy my kids we prefer to use the time together at restaurants to connect with one another and so we tend to play games like: Hangman--   any restaurant that has paper place mats works well for this.  We take turns picking  a word and drawing our hangman stand then take turns calling out letters and seeing if we can solve the puzzle.   Tic Tac Toe-- This works best with pen on paper place mats but we have played making a grid with butter knives ...

Share Our Lives: How I Stay Connected with My Spouse

This month for Share Our lives we're talking about staying connected. I decided to focus on how my husband and I have stayed connected all these years. We began dating at 16 which means we've been together more than 30 years!   From the time my boys were very young I was very aware of the fact that my marriage was meant to be my lifelong relationship and while I'd obviously have a relationship with my boys for their whole lives as well (I hoped!) I knew it was my job to raise them to leave. The whole point of parenthood is to send our kids out into the world so while I wanted a strong relationship with all 4 of my guys I never lost sight of the fact that for me, my most important relationship was that with my husband.    Basically, it all boils down to I've never stopped dating my husband.     a date night outfit   We made sure to schedule date nights as often as we could. Favorite TV Shows Growing Up in the 80's and early 90's

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. And through the years I had SO MANY favorites! Growing pains aired in 1985 which put me around age 8 and it stayed on the air until I was 15 or so; I'm pretty sure most people in my age group watched mostly for Kirk Cameron and all his antics.  I still have a soft spot for family sit-coms!  The Facts of Life aired when I was just 2  and stayed on the air until I was 11 so I'm sure the episodes I remember so fondly were either some of the later ones and then reruns shown later on when I was old enough to watch from the beginning. Highlights & Favorites: A Sentence a Day February 2026

Well, I feel pretty safe in saying this is one February we're never going to forget! With a record breaking blizzard that hit at the end of the month and stranded Evan and I down in North Carolina for 3+ additional/unplanned days it sure ended with a bang.  1.  Thankful for a lazy day with no plans.  A lazy day watching TV and resting around the house. 2,483 steps.  2. So thankful to get out of the house and enjoy some shopping.  Gym, school with Evan, library (that was STILL closed; the heating has been broke for nearly a week now), Target, Lowe's, home to work on housework & cards. 9,239 steps.   3.  So thankful the stomach pains subsided a few hours after returning home from yoga.  Attempted yoga at the gym, came home 1/2 way through feeling sick and spent a lazy day on the computer and watching TV; rallied in the afternoon to clean the upstairs and make dinner. 3,139 steps.   4.
