A Tuesday Day In the Life on a Thursday

I decided to document last Tuesday November 4th for A Day in the Life with Joyce at From This Side of the Pond. It was a lovely day with nothing much on my to do list.

5:15-5:30 I woke up, hopped on the computer to check emails and make sure my blog posts were up for the day.

5:30-6:00 I got up, got dressed for the gym, straightened my hair, made the bed, started a load of laundry.

photo taken later when it was lighter out

6:00-6:30 I sat to work a bit more on my painting... felt like the corrections I made actually made the painting worse and decided to just walk away and let it dry before tackling it a 3rd time.

6:30- 7:15 I emptied the dishwasher & started loading it again, switched the laundry, then read my book until it was time to head to the gym. Tuesdays I take a yoga class from 8-9.

7:15-9:30 Drove to and from yoga, participated in class and also dropped off library books and got gas while I was out and about and had a car.

9:30- 10:30 checked in with Evan on his schoolwork, got dressed for the day, switched the laundry again, ate breakfast.

10:30-11:30 Evan took the car and headed off to work while I went to work on folding clothes and I wanted to finish some scrapbook pages I had started over the weekend. I needed my Circut to make titles and embellishments but first had nearly a full hour of troubleshooting when I couldn't get the program to work.

11:30-1:30 I finished up 8 more pages while listening to my audiobook. Here's a quick preview of a couple.

Book 3 is SO cute & fun!

1:30-2:00 I ate a late lunch and read my book again then folded the rest of the clothes.

2:00- 2:30 walked up to get the mail; after donning my winter coat.

Evan's diploma arrived (of course we won't give it to him until the spring)

2:30-3:30 I sat down to blog and watch TV.

3:30-4:00 Talked with Evan about his day once he got home from work.

4:00-5:00 Read my book a bit more.

5:00- 5:30 Made dinner, set the table, loaded the dishwasher

5:30- 6:00 Started the dishwasher with the day's dishes in it, ate dinner, cleaned up kitchen and put dinner dishes in the sink.

6:00- 6:30 Took a shower, put away my laundry, emptied and reloaded the dishwasher one final time.

6:30-8:30 -- sat down to blog and watch TV until bedtime.

  4. What a perfectly normal and peaceful day. I should try this exercise. I have far too many chores and things to do - it would be a good reminder to slow down with a book. I need to work on scheduling in some major down time!

    1. It's fun too to look back and see how much my day in the life posts have changed through the years. They definitely were way more packed when the boys were little.

  5. We have a very similar routine now! The day just flies by. Do you have a set cleaning routine - like certain things on certain days? I don't do laundry every day which I like. I do the household laundry once a week and then mine once a week - sometimes twice. I know some people do it every single day to keep up but I don't have to do my kids and my hubs so it's really nice.

    1. I don't do laundry every day either; I tend to laundry every 3 days or so and just do it all at once. I don't typically have to do my husband or any of my boys laundry either but sometimes I will if I happen to see their pile is getting large.

  11. I am impressed with all you accomplished in a day, from being productive and creative to simply relaxing with a book. I did notice your companion, a Yeti, in most of your pictures. Good for you! I used to scrapbook when the grandchildren were small, and still occasionally paint with acrylics. I am fascinated with where you live. It looks so pretty and interesting. This was a fun link-up and a great way to make new friends.

    2. Thanks! I definitely will check that out. I typically know when a painting is finished but sometimes (like this one above) I just have to remind myself that perfection is not my goal and good enough is good enough.

I have to walk away from some of my projects for a while too...sometimes you just need a fresh brain on them.

    1. I definitely don't have to worry about visiting family anytime soon-- my mom and sisters are in North Carolina and my dad is in Florida so it's pretty much just me and my brother up here but he has 5 kids so he's often pretty busy!

  21. You have some fun creative projects! I used to do watercolors in college and I got really good at it after many attempts that weren't so good. I am sure if I tried to watercolor now it'd be awful! Ha, ha! Looks like a lot of yummy and healthy meals too!

    1. It's amazing how quickly those skills deteriorate. I haven't gotten back into watercolors yet but I definitely plan to as I was really, really good at them in college. I minored in fine arts so I took tons of art classes of all kinds but acrylics and watercolors were my favorites.

  22. I had just commented on another blogger's post who had gotten rid of her dishwasher. I wish I hadn't put one in as we run out of clean dishes before it's even near full. But, you definitely use yours a lot! It was fun to read about your day...I can't imagine getting up that early and staying up! I am up at 4:30 when Mike gets up, but I go back to bed until 8:00.

    1. We do; most days it runs a minimum of twice a day but 3 times is pretty typical...especially once I started making so much of our foods from scratch. Today I have granola on my list of things to make.
