Talking About It Tuesdays #92

 Fall weather finally arrived here in New England, we even had a frost warning Thursday night. It was quite a temperature jump from temps in the upper 70's and low 80's to temps in the mid 50's but at least I get to start wearing some of my sweaters and fall clothes. We got Evan's college applications all finished and this week he starts the rounds of college interviews. Wish him luck! I had no idea how much was involved on my end for getting all the paperwork done but we far surpassed all the admission deadlines since once I started I just wanted to get all those boxes checked off and cleared from my mental to- do list. 

We had another successful party last week with well over 100 links. I hope you found some time to visit several. I found so many delicious looking recipes, adorable crafts, and even some book/reading ideas. I just love that I never really know what I'll find!

    We got a little frost here too, but not a killing frost yet. I've been enjoying the cooler temperatures as I clean up the garden. Thanks for the party.

    An exciting time for Evan! I hope he lands at the best place for him (and ideally for you, too!). We are enjoying beautiful weather. I´m glad you´re having some good weather. We don´t have frost in the extended forecast so I´m cautiously optimistic we can make it until the end of the October without frost; a gardener can dream :). Thanks for the link up!

    The only good thing about a frost warning is the death of mosquitoes! I got so bit up the other night! Go away already!

    Those temps dropped quickly!! We've had a lot of wind and rain from the Nor'easter this weekend and yesterday. I'm ready for it to be over. Good luck to Evan with his college interviews! Thank you for hosting!

      We had lots of wind and rain too; in fact we lost power for 5 or so hours yesterday. But I sort of expected that.

    Fall weather also coming to us....but we did not have frost yet...hope it will take some time till it freezes. I like the colours of the leaves shun by the autumn sun.

    Fall is suddenly here too, with a Nor'easter to boot. Thankfully it was just rainy and windy. It was actually a nice excuse to stay inside and craft!! Thanks for the party!

Things That Make Me Laugh

I loved the challenge of this week's list for our 26 lists link up.  I don't know about you but I really need to laugh more lately.  It's such a great stress reliever. 1.  Books-- I love a good funny book that makes me laugh out loud.  I haven't read one in a while but if you have any recommendations I'm all ears.  The last book I can remember making me laugh was the Un-Honeymooners. 2  The boys being silly. 3.  Watching shows like America's Funniest Videos or Family Feud. 4. Favorite TV Shows Growing Up in the 80's and early 90's

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. And through the years I had SO MANY favorites! Growing pains aired in 1985 which put me around age 8 and it stayed on the air until I was 15 or so; I'm pretty sure most people in my age group watched mostly for Kirk Cameron and all his antics.  I still have a soft spot for family sit-coms!  The Facts of Life aired when I was just 2  and stayed on the air until I was 11 so I'm sure the episodes I remember so fondly were either some of the later ones and then reruns shown later on when I was old enough to watch from the beginning. Share Our Lives: Our Go To Snacks

This month for Share Our lives we're talking about our go to snacks.  I honestly don't snack much anymore. I eat 3 main meals a day and rarely have an afternoon snack or any food after dinner. That said there are certain times of year or certain activities that bring on the snacking.  In summer I love ice cream. I try to hard to not indulge too much and won't keep it in the house. Around us ice cream places are only open from late spring until Labor day... or maybe mid-Sept. depending on the owner's whims.      Weekly hiking with our hiking group or my daily hikes with Evan rarely require any snacking/food but when Ben and I are on a trip or go on an all day summit hike I feel like I've more than earned some treats. We often pack trail mix but I do like one with lots of chocolate included!     On our Glacier National Park trip my husband and I splurged on a box of Nutty Bars and by the end of the week we had polished off the whole box.  I don...

21 Pilots The Clancy Tour Breach 2025

Last Tuesday, September 30th, Evan and I had tickets to see 21 Pilots in concert in Hartford Ct. The show was at an indoor/outdoor venue called the Xfinity Center (not to be confused with the other indoor/outdoor Xfinitiy Center in Massachusetts). We had never been to the Xfinity Center and had no idea what to expect. Reviews online were not favorable but we really enjoyed it. I'll liberally sprinkle photos in around all the details, feel free to skip them and just look- most of the details are for me to remember anyway!  I wore comfy clothes with large pockets so I didn't need to bring a bag with me. I carried just my phone (with my credit card tucked inside), keys, and ear plugs. We were surprised to find ourselves so close to the stage! We got an email a few days prior outlining what time the parking lots and various things opened including the doors and decided to switch up our plans a lot. Recipes We've been Making Lately

By the end of summer I'm usually struggling with new and creative ways to eat all the veggies we get in our CSA boxes. My boys aren't the greatest about eating their veggies so I'm always looking for new ways to sneak veggies into our diet.  In putting this post together I found it rather ironic that nearly all of the recipes included cheese of some kind since I really try to limit our diary/cheese. We honestly eat cheese less than once a week but for whatever reason most new recipes we tried these past few months were quite cheese and dairy heavy.   I made these eggplant meatballs to go with our spaghetti and homemade marinara one night. I roasted the eggplant in the oven along with the garlic and 1/2 an onion (diced). Then I followed the rest of the recipe as is. Again my family surprised me by eating them all (the recipe only made a dozen or so). Next time I'd like to try swapping out the cheese with some form of ground meat since we're trying so hard to get away...
