Midi, Maxi, Or Mini Skirts & Dresses with Ageless Style

It's the third Thursday of the month and time for another ageless style challenge. This month I picked styling mini, mini, or maxi skirts & dresses which is an admittedly odd choice for someone that hardly ever wears skirts or dresses... and usually not in fall at all. But I wanted to step outside of my comfort zone just a bit. 


I typically only wear above the knee (mini) or maxi skirts and dress. I honestly don't think I own anything midi length. For fall I tend to pair dresses with boots or booties and often a scarf and leggings too.




 

All of the above photos were taken from my archives but I did put together a brand new look for today's challenge. I had this maxi jean skirt I bought years ago and still had the tags on it! I decided to pair that with one of my favorite cozy sweaters and a pair of boots.  

 I added a long necklace and some chunky earrings to finish off the outfit. Now let's see what all my co-hosts came up with.

      Thank you! It is rather stiff and thick denim though so I'm hopeful a wash or two will soften it up.

    That is funny that you picked this challenge and you don't wear skirts/dresses much in the fall. So many cute looks. I have never considered longer lengths like your wearing "mini", I consider those "midi" since they fall between a mini skirt length and a maxi skirt length...they're in the middle. But I googled it and you are right, so now my post is all wrong ha ha.

      I rarely wear dresses and skirts ever! BUT weirdly I do seem to buy them frequently. I don't think what we call it is nearly that important... but I guess you learn something new each day!

    Loved this prompt and way to step out of your comfort zone!!! I get it though, if I didn't work I don't think i'd own or reach for nearly as many 'dressy' outfit options as I wear. I'd likely be found in my workout gear or sweat pant suits 80% of the time. LOL.

      I like the dressy options and have so many in my closet.. but often feel like I have no place to wear them. To wear them just at home I almost always end up changing so we can head out hiking somewhere. I tend to mostly live in jeans and sweaters all fall.

    It is always funny to me when someone still has something with the tags on! I do try to wear my new items within a week or two. I was just thinking, I have a skirt that I haven't worn but a handful of times since I bought it and need to pull it out for next week!

      I try to but I had bought that skirt for an earlier Ageless Style challenge and really didn't like it no matter what I did with it so I decided to set it aside and try again later. I figured it was now or never and if I don't wear it again soon it will go into the donate pile.

    These all look great on you. My favorite is the blue knee lengths(-ish) with the pretty white details at the bottom of dress and sleeves. The navy maxi dress looks so fabulous too, but navy is also my favorite color at the moment :)
    I too don't wear dresses often but surprisingly found 2 midis this summer that I enjoyed wearing. A lengths I thought didn't work for me (petite) but I figured out it was more about the style than the lengths. In fall and winter if I wear dresses then only to special events (which are so rarely!!) and not in daily life. I loo love my jeans and sweaters.

    All the outfits look great! I agree I don't have many midi dresses. Although I am 5'3 so sometimes midi dresses are like maxi dresses on me.

    I really like the denim skirt! I'm still on the look out for the perfect one. I want one that looks like yours but is almost like a chambray. I'm not sure such an animal exists, though!

Favorite TV Shows Growing Up in the 80's and early 90's

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. And through the years I had SO MANY favorites! Growing pains aired in 1985 which put me around age 8 and it stayed on the air until I was 15 or so; I'm pretty sure most people in my age group watched mostly for Kirk Cameron and all his antics.  I still have a soft spot for family sit-coms!  The Facts of Life aired when I was just 2  and stayed on the air until I was 11 so I'm sure the episodes I remember so fondly were either some of the later ones and then reruns shown later on when I was old enough to watch from the beginning. Share Our Lives: Our Go To Snacks

This month for Share Our lives we're talking about our go to snacks.  I honestly don't snack much anymore. I eat 3 main meals a day and rarely have an afternoon snack or any food after dinner. That said there are certain times of year or certain activities that bring on the snacking.  In summer I love ice cream. I try to hard to not indulge too much and won't keep it in the house. Around us ice cream places are only open from late spring until Labor day... or maybe mid-Sept. depending on the owner's whims.      Weekly hiking with our hiking group or my daily hikes with Evan rarely require any snacking/food but when Ben and I are on a trip or go on an all day summit hike I feel like I've more than earned some treats. 21 Pilots The Clancy Tour Breach 2025

Last Tuesday, September 30th, Evan and I had tickets to see 21 Pilots in concert in Hartford Ct. The show was at an indoor/outdoor venue called the Xfinity Center (not to be confused with the other indoor/outdoor Xfinitiy Center in Massachusetts). We had never been to the Xfinity Center and had no idea what to expect. Reviews online were not favorable but we really enjoyed it. I'll liberally sprinkle photos in around all the details, feel free to skip them and just look- most of the details are for me to remember anyway!  I wore comfy clothes with large pockets so I didn't need to bring a bag with me. I carried just my phone (with my credit card tucked inside), keys, and ear plugs. We were surprised to find ourselves so close to the stage! Talking About It Tuesdays #92

 Fall weather finally arrived here in New England, we even had a frost warning Thursday night. It was quite a temperature jump from temps in the upper 70's and low 80's to temps in the mid 50's but at least I get to start wearing some of my sweaters and fall clothes. We got Evan's college applications all finished and this week he starts the rounds of college interviews. Wish him luck! I had no idea how much was involved on my end for getting all the paperwork done but we far surpassed all the admission deadlines since once I started I just wanted to get all those boxes checked off and cleared from my mental to- do list.  We had another successful party last week with well over 100 links.
