Immersive Monet Experience
I had such high expectations for the Immersive Monet exhibit because we loved the Van Gogh one so much and I love Monet's art work even more. Alec and I went this past weekend and we spent a good 2 hours inside.
It was in the same building and space that housed the Van Gogh exhibit so we expected a similar set up.
We read about Monet's life and works and home. We watched a short computer animated video about the start of the impressionist movement and Monet's role in it.
Then we stepped into a room that was set up to look like Monet's art studio/salon. There were reproductions of his art all around, little handwritten notes/thoughts sprinkled throughout and even a little window where you could look out onto a scene from Monet's garden complete with bridges, hanging plants, and koi pond.
From there we stepped out into Monet's garden. Now these next two photos look awful but I promise you in real life it wasn't nearly so blue or hazy in there... but it did feel a bit like you had stepped right into a painting Monet had painted of his beautiful gardens.
The floor was covered in artificial grass, there was a cement koi pond in the middle with fish and waterlilies projected on it. There was a cute bench and two curved bridges covered in ivy, wisteria and flowers. It was really rather magical feeling.
A group of women came in and asked us to take their photo and then offered to take one of us... can you even see us? LOL
The last room was the projection room where Monet's paintings are projected onto all 4 walls. We found a bench in the middle and sat through the whole thing. Relaxing music plays and the pictures projected onto the walls and floor are always changing.
It was great and even having studied Monet and his work quite extensively in college, I found a few "new" works of art I hadn't known about!

What a cool way to get to experience Monet's work! And for you to learn about new works of art. Very neat!! Thanks for sharing about your time there.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome!
DeleteThat sounds lovely! I have never been to an immersive experience before, but I love museums.
ReplyDeleteThey are a lot of fun; not quite a museum since all the works are reproductions but it's fun to see them larger than life.
DeleteAbsolutely amazing! Would love to see this!
ReplyDeleteIt was really fun.
DeleteThese types of exhibits often come to Atlanta but I still haven't gone to one.

DeleteThis is such a lovely post. It was different than the Van Gough Immersive experience in that we didn't go into any rooms with furniture simulating the studio. That ws unique. It looks like you had a fabulous time.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it was definitely different than the Van Gogh experience.
DeleteI love how you went to this. I've seen it advertised but we never pulled the trigger.
ReplyDeleteXOXO
Jodie
Aw, thank you!
DeleteWhat a treat for the eyes and soul. Happy Halloween too!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteWe did something similar to this back in the year after Covid during Thanksgiving break. We loved it! We are all wearing masks in the photos tho! Lol! And then had Cheesecake Factory after!

ReplyDeleteIt really was lovely!
DeleteThis is so unique - I will look for something like this coming through our town.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are able to find something like it!
DeleteWow. That's stunning! I'm in the cabinet refinishing industry so I've seen plenty of paintings. Nothing like this though. That's amazing. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome!
DeleteI love Monet -- this sounds absolutely fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI love Monet too.
DeleteWhat a lovely way to spend some time!
ReplyDeleteIt sure was.
DeleteThat looks like a fun and fantastic experience! Thank you for your weekend coffee share.
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting.
DeleteThis seems a lot like The Lume but yet a little different. We did have the bridge, but most of it, as I recall (it was a year or two ago) was the projection part. I loved it and could have stayed there for hours.

I could have too.

ReplyDeleteIt was really neat.
DeleteI keep seeing these Immersive art experiences and I'd love to go to one myself. What a great, modern way to get people interested in art again.
ReplyDeleteI love the blue effect! What a cool experience..
ReplyDeleteThis looks like so much fun! I studied Monet many moons ago. Love his work! :)
ReplyDeleteLate to this post. Thanks for sharing this. It looks wonderful. I’m in Melbourne (Australia) we attended the art gallery’s exhibition of French Impressionism from the Fine Art Museum in Boston. There was a room with all Monets. I sat for about an hour and just took them all in. You get lost in the paintings. I hope this immersion exhibition comes to Melbourne, saw the Van Gogh a few years ago. Rita
ReplyDeleteJoanne, it looks like a wonderful experience, and I love the photos you took.
