Day in the Life: The Day of Evan's First College Interview
I decided to document last Friday October 17th, for my Day in the Life. It's been a long time since I've done a day in the life but I always enjoy reading them. So I figured why not?
5:30-- I woke up and got right to blogging.
6:00- I set the computer aside and got dressed, made the the bed, etc.
6:30-- Leave for the gym

photo taken as I was leaving.. when it was finally light enough for a photo! |
8:00-- home from the gym and I head upstairs to get dressed and ready for the day while Evan starts school and eats breakfast without me.
8:30-- I started prepping dinner; I was making a turkey pot pie. While Also overseeing/helping Evan with his schoolwork when needed.
9:00 I sat down to eat breakfast and do a bit of blogging
9:30-- Laundry, took out the garbage, brushed my teeth, filled the dishwasher-- all those fun morning chores.
10:00 - 11:30 -- I sat down to do some scrapbooking and got 3 more double page spreads all laid out.
11:30-12:30 I actually don't know what I did.. I'm guessing more laundry and then??
12:30/12:40--Evan and I left to head the college for his interview.
1:30 Parked, found where Evan needed to be, I sat and called Alec to get caught up with him while Evan went off and had a quick 30 minute interview with the admissions officer.
2:00- 2:30 We stopped for a late lunch at Panera Bread on the way home. I had their Fuji apple chicken salad. It was delicious.
3:00 We arrived home, I swapped laundry once again, then headed out for a walk down the road to our mailbox.
3:30-- I sat down to work on blogging and watch some Gilmore Girls repeats.
4:30-- My husband came home unexpectedly early so I went to visit with him and check out the contents of our meat CSA box (we only get it once a month and today was pick up day). I also preheated the oven and started cooking super, unloaded the dishwasher, worked on our menu/grocery list.
5:30-- We sat down to eat dinner.
6:00-- I sat down to watch TV and finish blogging for the day.
6:15-- I headed upstairs to shower and put on my pj's/comfy clothes for the night.
6:40-- I sat down to watch TV and was in bed by 8:30... where I watched more TV until I fell asleep around 9:30/10.

It was fun to learn about your day but, blogging at 5:30am?? How do you even find the words?!
ReplyDeleteLOL! Mostly in the morning I'm linking up to the link parties I join and while I do write comments that's easier since I'm just reading and responding and not trying to create my own content. I'm just one of those people that wake up fully when my eyes are open.
DeleteI do my blogging early morning too. We usually wake up around 4:30, I get my coffee, then sit at the computer and catch up on everyone's blog, then I start writing. Thanks for sharing your day :)
ReplyDeleteI don't drink coffee and just this year we started "sleeping in" until 5/5:30 instead of 4:30. I"m enjoying that more.
DeleteEnjoyed reading about your day. It´s always interesting to see how people fill their time in the day. I hope the interview went well :).
ReplyDeleteI hope so too; it's really rather hard to tell but he seems happy and content with whatever decisions are made.
DeleteNice routine! I am sure the interview was out of the ordinary but you have a good routine going.
ReplyDeleteYeah, the interview was definitely out of the ordinary but a nice break from our routine.
DeleteI love early morning blogging...while the house is still quiet...pure heaven :)
ReplyDeleteYep!
DeleteI love reading these types of posts as well! I never do them, but I should now that my life is so different than what it was six months ago. I hope his college interview went well! I think that Panera salad looks delicious, too. I haven't been to one of those in a long time!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I bet it would be neat to get a day in the life of Teacher Jenn!
DeleteThis sounds like a great day! Except I can't motivate myself to leave the house that early, unless if I am traveling!
ReplyDeleteThank you! It definitely gets harder this time of year now that my gym buddy is gone and the mornings are fairly dark (today it was rainy and I came so close to skipping my workout entirely!).
DeleteI love reading Day in the Life posts. It sounds like a good day!
ReplyDeleteThe turkey pot pie looks so good and so does your breakfast! How exciting for Evan to have a college interview, I hope it went well. I always find it fascinating that you have to walk to your mailbox, here our mail just comes straight through the letterbox on the front door.
Thank you! Most people where we live have the same set up but we live at the end of a dead end/private drive so everyone that lives on our street has boxes up at the main/town road.
DeleteI usually blog first thing in the morning, especially on Mondays. Visiting colleges and choosing one is an exciting time. I luckily found a place that was a good fit for me. I hope your son finds the perfect place for his college experience. #MMBC
ReplyDeleteLuckily my boys are all pretty decisive and while we've visited quite a few with Evan he's known his top choice from the moment he stepped food on campus. He has 2 really great back up choices too.
DeleteSounds like a nice day! Hope the interview went well.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteIsn't it amazing how fast a day goes by? I always have so many plans and feel fortunate to get half of them accomplished. We had our first frost and so spent a lot of time lately putting our gardens to sleep for the winter. I hope Evan's interview went well--an exciting time of life for him!
ReplyDeleteI always feel like I have far more on my list than I have hours in the day too.
DeleteYour trees are already so beautiful there! Ours are just beginning to turn!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you. We had a pretty big storm here today so lots of trees lost their leaves entirely.
DeleteI hope the interview went well! I love reading these posts which somehow connect us. I need to pick a day for the link up I'm hosting next month. I need to set alarms for the pictures : ) I used to blog early morning, but since my hubs retired I have coffee with him and usually end up blogging late afternoon. Have a nice week!
ReplyDeleteI do find the hardest part is remember to take photos; I also try to write the post a bit at as a time as the day goes on so I don't forget what we did!
DeleteBut wait...how did the interview go?
ReplyDeleteXoxo
Jodie
Who knows?! LOL The college won't decide one way or the other until mid December the earliest.
DeleteSounds like a productive day! Just wondering how Evan felt about the interview?? Kudos on so much time for blogging. No wonder you do it so well!!:)
ReplyDeleteHe said he and the interviewer seemed to hit it off pretty good and had a lot to talk about as well as a lot in common-- favorite bands, the same major, the study abroad places he's interested in she went on, things like that.
DeleteI loved hearing about your day in the life. I hope the interview went well, and that Evan will have lots of choices. Did I tell you that all of our area Panera Bread's closed? The owner of many of the Houston area franchises went bankrupt! I loved going there.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy a day in the life! We started Gilmore Girls from the beginning once Violet was born, such a comforting show. We still haven't watched the last episode and it's been quite a few months since we got there ha.
ReplyDeleteThat's a full day! Here's hoping everything went extra well on the interview!
ReplyDeleteI so enjoy posts like this! Your fall colors in your hometown are so pretty! I think if I gave it a try I would really like the Gilmore Girls, I've never taken the time to watch it. My daughter decided to go to cosmetology school in January! We have been back and forth on so many things, she rides horses, plays music and was interested in Bible college, so its a relief that she's settled, signed up and ready to start. That in between is a process!
ReplyDeleteI need a better morning routine! My husband gets up around 6- and I really need to get up with him, I just don't have the motivation but I need it! So nice to catch up with you this evening!!!
