21 Pilots The Clancy Tour Breach 2025

Last Tuesday, September 30th, Evan and I had tickets to see 21 Pilots in concert in Hartford Ct. The show was at an indoor/outdoor venue called the Xfinity Center (not to be confused with the other indoor/outdoor Xfinitiy Center in Massachusetts). We had never been to the Xfinity Center and had no idea what to expect. Reviews online were not favorable but we really enjoyed it. I'll liberally sprinkle photos in around all the details, feel free to skip them and just look- most of the details are for me to remember anyway! 

I wore comfy clothes with large pockets so I didn't need to bring a bag with me. I carried just my phone (with my credit card tucked inside), keys, and ear plugs.

We got an email a few days prior outlining what time the parking lots and various things opened including the doors and decided to switch up our plans a lot. Originally we were going to arrive around 6 for the 8 o'clock show but the parking lots opened at 3:30/4 so we decided to shoot for that time instead. We stopped to pick up grinders/subs on the way and planned to eat in the car. 

We beat most of the traffic and while it took us 2 tries to find the EZ out parking it was well worth the $40 fee as we were out of the venue within minutes and on the road beating all the traffic. We were home in just about an hour! I honestly thought it was going to take us an hour or two just to get on the road home. 

The opening act was really good too. 

 

We sat in the car for an hour reading our books, eating our food and then decided we might as well start heading over to get in line since the doors were opening soon... plus we were bored sitting in our car. The line was already pretty long by the time we joined but we had so much fun people watching. I've only been to one other 21 Pilots concert but their fans are so sweet. People were offering each other tape (it's a 21 Pilots thing), bracelets, original artwork made into mini pamphlets, etc. 

Once inside the main gates the venue opens up with food trucks and stalls lining the perimeter, they had merch. tents and huge bathrooms. I was stunned that there was no line at all for the ladies room. From there we headed into the building since our seats were under the pavilion. Those doors weren't opened yet so we hung out in another line and saw people-- complete strangers mind you sharing a pizza, offering bits of soft pretzels, etc. to each other.

The doors opened up around 7 and we found our seats. I don't know about you but those seating charts never seem to make sense to me; this time we were so surprised to find ourselves just 5 or 6 rows back from the pit. We had the best seats! 

 

The opening band was great; though they did have to pause part way through and ask for the house lights as there was a minor incident in the pit area. The security team came through and carried someone out to sit in one of the empty seats in front of us. I'm thinking he passed out since someone further down that same row came over with a cup of (what I'm guessing!) was ice water and as he sat there sipping he started looking much better. Before 21 Pilots came on stage they had gotten a wheelchair and brought him away (somewhere where I hope he at least got to hear/see the show since he really did not want to leave with them). 

 

The show was amazing with lots of pyrotechnics and special effects. 21 Pilots does a LOT of crowd interaction. At least a half dozen times they left the stage to walk through the arena and up onto a secondary stage they had set up on the lawn. They also stand on platforms the crowd hold up a time or two. They even pulled a young boy up onto the stage to sing the chorus of a song with them. I'm sure that made that boy's night! 

 They performed for a good 2 1/2 hours straight and each of their songs leads into the next. 

 There are rarely breaks in the music but it does get dark from time to time and they utilize those moments to change costumes.

They mostly write what are called concept albums and their fans know the storylines of Clancy and his battle with the fictional world of Dema. Clancy's story was supposed to wrap up last year with the release of the Clancy album but it didn't and so they released Breach this year to wrap up that storyline and dubbed it Breach since it was both a breach of trust with their fans but also Clancy finally has a break through and an end to his story. 

The concert had a great mix of songs from ALL their albums but the show was a bit personalized for Hartford, of course. At one point the drummer walked through the arena carrying a Hartford banner like a flag that then was draped over his drum set for most of the show. Tyler, the singer, at one point told us they were supposed to have way more fireworks/pyrotechnics but our fire marshals/code are incredibly strict (our whole state is known for being pretty strict with safety laws) and he was joking that the next song must be how the marshals feel when they wake up in the morning in order to enjoy wielding their power so much... then they broke out in their song singing "I feel like garbage.." it was a riot.

I had an aisle seat so we walked right out of the venue without stopping, we crossed the street to our car, took a "back exit" way out of the parking lot (hence the EZ out parking) and were on the road in minutes. We did find a Mobile mart/24 hour gas station 1/2 way home and stopped for some ice cold water. We were parched after singing our hearts out along with the band all night.

I really had so much anxiety about getting to the show and getting home from the show and don't generally consider myself a concert person. I don't like crowds and especially with an indoor/outdoor venue I worry about things like marijuana and beer smells but all that worry and anxiety were for nothing. It was an incredible night.
