Talking About It Tuesdays #90

We finally got some much needed rain last week and while I definitely missed getting out for walks and hikes it was also pretty nice to have an excuse to stay home and get things done. I finally got the house mostly decorated for fall. I'm just not into it much this year so I'm calling it "good enough." Since I'm the only one that even notices or cares, it's very low pressure to be festive. I can't believe it's already October tomorrow! The days and weeks are just flying by. 
 
We had another fabulous link up party last week. It was so hard to pick just a few favorites. So many of you have been off on these wonderful trips to Hawaii, Alaska, Banff, Europe, etc. and I just LOVE travel recaps. They constantly make my own travel bucket list longer and longer. It's a good problem to have. I also saw so many delicious recipes and adorable crafts I want to try. I was sort of dreading the arrival of fall this year since I didn't want summer to end but now that it's here and I'm seeing all these cozy, fall posts I'm getting excited for cooler weather and pretty leaves and yummy pumpkin, apple, or cranberry treats.

    We had lots of gray skies last week. The temps weren't bad at all though so it wasn't a bad, miserable gray and rainy week. The rain was much needed- not sure if you guys needed it or not but we sure did. Hopefully this week you're able to get out more. Fall is usually a great time to be out... thanks for the link up!

    Same with decor. I immediately donated anything I wasn't feeling this year because I won't feel it in the future, either! I was so proud of myself. I have taken a few back hatch loads of donations in the last couple of months in my effort to clear clutter. Isn't that the truth about the rain - forcing us to stay in and do those tasks.       I thought about it but some of those pieces I just bought a year or so ago and I figure next year I might be more into decorating; if not they'll definitely go. I'm not usually one to hold to onto much stuff.

      I used to enjoy decorating but lately I'm not sure I care much about it either. But I felt guilty having all those bins just sitting there.

    I've struggled to get into the season this year too, but mostly I think it's because it has still felt so summery here. My travel list grows each week too, and I am going to try the pumpkin cranberry recipe because often I feel like just pumpkin is too strong for my taste. Thanks for hosting!

      Our weather has been oddly warm too; in our 10 day forecast we have 2 days where it will be in the mid-80's! That is definitely not typical fall New England weather. I'd much rather cling to summer than embrace fall.

    Your comment about how you're the only one that notices the decor is hysterical. That's what happens when you have all boys. :). I'm glad I know another person who doesn't get that excited about fall too!

      Right? They really couldn't care less; my youngest has already asked if we are going to have to decorate for Christmas this year since we aren't going away. He'd really rather not! LOL

    I love Fall and I decorate for me...I get bored with things very quickly so changing my decor with the different seasons and Holidays is a much cheaper way to refresh my decor than remodeling would be!! Lol!! Thanks so much for stopping by!!

      Your love of decorating shines through! I used to be that way; constantly rearranging furniture, painting the rooms, making new crafty items to display but the past few years I've grown quite apathetic about it all.

      That is nice! Even with the rain though almost all of our streams, brooks, and ponds are all dried up so we need quite a bit more.

      I wish the temperatures would cooperate too; I don't mind the warm weather at all but I am worried that we'll end up skipping fall weather altogether and skipping right to freezing cold winter temperatures.

Things That Make Me Laugh

I loved the challenge of this week's list for our 26 lists link up.  I don't know about you but I really need to laugh more lately.  It's such a great stress reliever. 1.  Books-- I love a good funny book that makes me laugh out loud.  I haven't read one in a while but if you have any recommendations I'm all ears.  The last book I can remember making me laugh was the Un-Honeymooners. 2  The boys being silly. 3.  Watching shows like America's Funniest Videos or Family Feud. 4. Prime Purchases in September

 It's the first Monday of the month and time for Prime Purchases. I caved in to an offer for a free trial of Amazon Prime at the end of August that allowed me to order a hiking skirt and have it come in in time to for our trip to Montana. Unfortunately, having that free shipping seems to have enticed me to order more... But my free trial is over and hopefully my ordering will tamper off. Though with Christmas coming up that might not be a possibility plus I've already placed 2 orders in October! Meanwhile check out all the stuff I bought last month.   Clothing: First up is the hiking skirt I ordered for our trip. I love it... but I didn't get a chance to wear it. Mornings were much too cool for a skirt even though afternoons were downright hot.  I also ordered another kimono ... Favorite TV Shows Growing Up in the 80's and early 90's

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. And through the years I had SO MANY favorites! Growing pains aired in 1985 which put me around age 8 and it stayed on the air until I was 15 or so; I'm pretty sure most people in my age group watched mostly for Kirk Cameron and all his antics.  I still have a soft spot for family sit-coms!  The Facts of Life aired when I was just 2  and stayed on the air until I was 11 so I'm sure the episodes I remember so fondly were either some of the later ones and then reruns shown later on when I was old enough to watch from the beginning. Recipes We've been Making Lately

By the end of summer I'm usually struggling with new and creative ways to eat all the veggies we get in our CSA boxes. My boys aren't the greatest about eating their veggies so I'm always looking for new ways to sneak veggies into our diet.  In putting this post together I found it rather ironic that nearly all of the recipes included cheese of some kind since I really try to limit our diary/cheese. We honestly eat cheese less than once a week but for whatever reason most new recipes we tried these past few months were quite cheese and dairy heavy.   I made these eggplant meatballs to go with our spaghetti and homemade marinara one night. I roasted the eggplant in the oven along with the garlic and 1/2 an onion (diced). Then I followed the rest of the recipe as is. Again my family surprised me by eating them all (the recipe only made a dozen or so). Next time I'd like to try swapping out the cheese with some form of ground meat since we're trying so hard to get away...

21 Pilots The Clancy Tour Breach 2025

Last Tuesday, September 30th, Evan and I had tickets to see 21 Pilots in concert in Hartford Ct. The show was at an indoor/outdoor venue called the Xfinity Center (not to be confused with the other indoor/outdoor Xfinitiy Center in Massachusetts). We had never been to the Xfinity Center and had no idea what to expect. Reviews online were not favorable but we really enjoyed it. I'll liberally sprinkle photos in around all the details, feel free to skip them and just look- most of the details are for me to remember anyway!  I wore comfy clothes with large pockets so I didn't need to bring a bag with me. I carried just my phone (with my credit card tucked inside), keys, and ear plugs. We were surprised to find ourselves so close to the stage! We got an email a few days prior outlining what time the parking lots and various things opened including the doors and decided to switch up our plans a lot.
