Talking About it Tuesdays #85

Thank you all so much for your well wishes last week! Move in day was a piece of cake; in well under 2 hours we had everything put away/in place in this room and bathroom and left the kitchen for him and his roommates to deal with (we did take him to a late lunch first though). He was off without a good-bye or a backwards glance! LOL. You know he's ready to be on his own then. 
 
It's time for another Talking About it Tuesday! We had another pretty big turnout last week with a wide variety of topics. I can't wait to see what everyone shares this week.

    Glad move in day went well. By junior year our kids didn't even want our help. They just made multiple trips since it was only 20 minutes away! Lol!

      Well, Alec is pretty insistent he doesn't ever want to drive in Providence so I'm pretty sure we'll still be involved in next year's move.

Things That Make Me Laugh

I loved the challenge of this week's list for our 26 lists link up.  I don't know about you but I really need to laugh more lately.  It's such a great stress reliever. 1.  Books-- I love a good funny book that makes me laugh out loud.  I haven't read one in a while but if you have any recommendations I'm all ears.  The last book I can remember making me laugh was the Un-Honeymooners. 2  The boys being silly. 3.  Watching shows like America's Funniest Videos or Family Feud. 4. Prime Purchases in September

 It's the first Monday of the month and time for Prime Purchases. I caved in to an offer for a free trial of Amazon Prime at the end of August that allowed me to order a hiking skirt and have it come in in time to for our trip to Montana. Unfortunately, having that free shipping seems to have enticed me to order more... But my free trial is over and hopefully my ordering will tamper off. Though with Christmas coming up that might not be a possibility plus I've already placed 2 orders in October! Meanwhile check out all the stuff I bought last month.   Clothing: First up is the hiking skirt I ordered for our trip. I love it... but I didn't get a chance to wear it. Mornings were much too cool for a skirt even though afternoons were downright hot.  I also ordered another kimono ... I want to love them on me as much as I love them on others but It drives me nuts that they often slip off one shoulder or another.    And another one of these chiffon tops; this ma...

Favorite TV Shows Growing Up in the 80's and early 90's

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. And through the years I had SO MANY favorites! Growing pains aired in 1985 which put me around age 8 and it stayed on the air until I was 15 or so; I'm pretty sure most people in my age group watched mostly for Kirk Cameron and all his antics.  I still have a soft spot for family sit-coms!  The Facts of Life aired when I was just 2  and stayed on the air until I was 11 so I'm sure the episodes I remember so fondly were either some of the later ones and then reruns shown later on when I was old enough to watch from the beginning. Recipes We've been Making Lately

By the end of summer I'm usually struggling with new and creative ways to eat all the veggies we get in our CSA boxes. My boys aren't the greatest about eating their veggies so I'm always looking for new ways to sneak veggies into our diet.  In putting this post together I found it rather ironic that nearly all of the recipes included cheese of some kind since I really try to limit our diary/cheese. We honestly eat cheese less than once a week but for whatever reason most new recipes we tried these past few months were quite cheese and dairy heavy.   I made these eggplant meatballs to go with our spaghetti and homemade marinara one night. I roasted the eggplant in the oven along with the garlic and 1/2 an onion (diced). Then I followed the rest of the recipe as is. Again my family surprised me by eating them all (the recipe only made a dozen or so). Next time I'd like to try swapping out the cheese with some form of ground meat since we're trying so hard to get away...

21 Pilots The Clancy Tour Breach 2025

Last Tuesday, September 30th, Evan and I had tickets to see 21 Pilots in concert in Hartford Ct. The show was at an indoor/outdoor venue called the Xfinity Center (not to be confused with the other indoor/outdoor Xfinitiy Center in Massachusetts). We had never been to the Xfinity Center and had no idea what to expect. Reviews online were not favorable but we really enjoyed it. I'll liberally sprinkle photos in around all the details, feel free to skip them and just look- most of the details are for me to remember anyway!  I wore comfy clothes with large pockets so I didn't need to bring a bag with me. I carried just my phone (with my credit card tucked inside), keys, and ear plugs. We were surprised to find ourselves so close to the stage! We got an email a few days prior outlining what time the parking lots and various things opened including the doors and decided to switch up our plans a lot.
