Talking About it Tuesdays #84
We can already tell fall is on the way; even though most days this week it still reached into the 90's our mornings start out in the 50's and 60's. We are in full on college prep mode here as we prepare to drop Alec off this weekend-- another sure sign fall is right around the corner. I have no idea how drop off will go since he can't move in until noon and has a mandatory meeting at 3 (last year it took us from 10 am until nearly 3 to get him settled and he didn't have a full kitchen to unpack too!). We also found out that there is no elevator and he lives on the 3rd floor so we'll be getting plenty of exercise but I figure it's just for one day and somehow we will get it all finished. Wish us luck! We're hoping to take him for his first grocery run too and buy all those cleaning supplies I didn't have room to pack. Thank goodness we have all day Sunday to recuperate! Do you have a busy weekend planned?
We had another very successful link party last week and I'm always blown away by all the different posts everyone shares. I find so many fabulous ideas-- places I want to travel to, recipes I want to try, crafts to mimic, etc. Thank you all so much for coming back week after week to make this such a fun party.

This party will remain open until the weekend. My hope is that everyone will share all sorts of wonderful posts: travel, recipes, how to's, crafting ideas, and more-- up to 3 posts per blog. Anything that is family friendly is welcome; even old posts that you'd like to get some new views.

College move in days are always adventures! I''ll have an adventure of my own soon- tis the season. I hope Alec's move in goes smoothly. Thanks for the link up!
ReplyDeleteThey definitely are adventures! Thanks for the well wishes.
DeleteThe age old question - where did the summer go? I've resolved not to write about fall until September 22 (although I will enjoy what others are writing!). There's still so much summer to savor.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying real hard to abide by that too; I just want to savor as much summer as I can.
DeleteOh how I remember college move in days! Good Luck to you! I wish that it all goes smoothly! And good luck to him with a new college school year.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteWhat a thrill to see my post in your round up! Thank you for the shout out!! I hope college move-in goes smoothly. It can be stressful, especially with time constraints but they always do seem to work out. It's feeling like fall here all of a sudden but I'm not ready for summer to be over!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! It feels like fall here all of a sudden too (today it's a rainy 60 degree day!) but I'm hopeful we'll have a few more summer feeling days soon.
DeleteWhew! What a busy weekend. I hope Alec is enjoying his time in college. If so, he must be pretty excited!
ReplyDeleteThank you! He LOVES college and has been trying to find a job on campus that would allow him to live there year round!
DeleteWishing you the best of luck with the college move in day. Thanks so much for hosting. Have. wonderful week.

ReplyDeleteI was thinking that too.

Thank you; of course it looks like Saturday is going to be one of the hottest days we've had in a long time but I do think the building is air conditioned at least... if not I may volunteer to start unpacking while the other two carry stuff in from the car!
DeleteWishing you a smooth move in day this coming weekend! Sounds like you have a great plan for getting everything accomplished! Thanks, as always, for hosting us each Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI remember those college move in days. Crazy times. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a bit crazy and hectic but somehow it always seems to work out.
DeleteI've been there with the helping your kiddo move in to an apartment with no elevators. The second time, mine was on the FIFTH floor. That one was a rough go. Hope it's all smooth for you! Thanks for hosting the linkup.
ReplyDeleteAlec was on the 5th floor last year and while he did have an elevator with over 1,000 others moving out on the same day we often opted to take the stairs just so we could meet that noon move out cut off. We by passed the craziness of move in day last year since he moved in a few days before everyone else.
DeleteI too can tell that fall is on it's way here with the evenings getting dark earlier and the morning cool. Wishing you luck with move in day Joanne.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteYay for Fall! I’m ready for cooler temps, that’s for certain. Triple digits is not for the weak. Praying all goes well with the college move in.
ReplyDeleteOh I bet; we so rarely have triple digits here.
DeleteHello Joanne, may the move go well, you can do it.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the lovely party

Hope to see you also share with SSPS & HIH https://esmesalon.com/tag/seniorsalonpitstop/
Thank you so much!
DeleteWhew...that's going to be good hamstring and glute work going up those stairs...unless you guys do the fireman thing...

Absolutely! I figure it should be easy to get my step count in that day.
DeleteHe's on the third floor with no elevator?? What? That seems totally crazy to me for a college dorm not to have an elevator. Good luck with it all! I am sure it will go well. I looked in my backyard this morning and the leaves are already falling on the ground and two days ago they weren't all like that. The temps are in the 50s and 60s for us in the mornings this week but last week was hot. I said I was looking forward to fall but suddenly I am sad at the prospect of our hills not being green. I feel like I missed out on summer this year because there were so many hot days and I do so horribly in the heat!
ReplyDeleteYep... in all honesty the elevators are usually pretty useless on move in/move out day anyway with so many people trying to access the same one. I figure at least he's only on the 3rd floor, it could be worse I guess! We're noticing some red and orange leaves already too.
DeleteBack from steamy Florida and so grateful for the crisp but sunny morning that greeted me for my morning walk.
ReplyDeleteOh I bet, it definitely makes walking more fun and bearable.
DeleteI wish you luck. I don't have kids that go to a college. They are grown-up yet. We will be dancing tango argentino this weekend.
ReplyDeleteAll the best
Violetta
Thank you!
DeleteHow nice to have cooler mornings. I hope the move-in goes well this weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI don't like it at all that summer is nearly over. Feels like it was gone I'm a splash. Good luck with moving!
ReplyDeleteI always want summer to last longer!
DeleteGood luck with the college drop! Yes, fall is definitely knocking on the door. Lots of falling leaves, and lower morning and evening temperatures.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteOh my that zucchini cake looks and sounds so delish! Good luck Mama- I know you will exceed your step count for sure- such an exciting time! You got this :)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! I can't wait to see this apartment in person and I'm already hoping we have enough time to get him properly settled so I can take photos.
DeleteNO signs of fall here this week! It is so hot and humid and we have been getting thunderstorms in the afternoons. I am looking forward to it though. Move in went well here last week, and M. is settling in and going to class.

It's raining today with a high of 59 but I really can't complain too much as we really, really needed some rain. We had such a wet start to summer and then this month we've hardly had a single drop. Glad to hear your son is settling in well!
DeleteThe weather has turned here this week, dropped 10 degrees from Sunday to Monday...feels like fall is on its way for sure. Good luck with the drop off! Exciting days!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI hope the move-in day goes smoothly! It's been a few years since we moved our daughters to college, but I still can feel it in my body when I think about it. I was excited for them, but nervous and sad for me. ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteOh my, you have a busy weekend coming up with the move in, Joanne. Good luck in setting up and climbing all those three flights.
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting for us.
Thank you so much!
