Talking About it Tuesdays #80

We had another fabulous summer week and and weekend! We've been hiking, went to an 18th birthday party/cookout, made some new recipes, and picked raspberries and blueberries. We've also had plenty of downtime at home hiding out in the air conditioning on those days the heat and humidity are just too much. I don't mind though because those times at home give me plenty of opportunities to visit all the posts that linked up at last week's party.

    We went blueberry picking too this past weekend. I wish I knew a place where we could pick raspberries. They are my favorite. Thanks for the party.

      This was the first year that the blueberry place had planted and had raspberries for picking. I didn't think I was a huge raspberry fan but freshly picked ones are so tasty! Hopefully someone will plant some near you.

      So far it looks like only Friday will be in the mid-90's here but we are enjoying these couple of days of cooler weather up here as well.

    Happy Tuesday! Such a pretty picture for the feature, I can see why it's so popular. I am enjoying slightly cooler weather in SEPA until it heats up again. We are heading to St. Vincent's next weekend, and I think when we return, I will be ready for the Fall weather to kick in. Have a lovely week.

      Ours seem to go in 3 or 4 day spans-- really hot and humid then a thunderstorm or rain and it cools off for a few..

    I have been staying inside as much as I can on those humid days. I wish I could handle it better. Let me pause and whine yet again about getting old and autoimmune diseases. Or ... not. Ha! Glad you have been having such a lovely time. We had a pretty great week last week too!

      That's good that you had a pretty great week too. I try to stay inside on those humid days too though we're lucky that we almost always have a nice breeze off the lake.

Favorite TV Shows Growing Up in the 80's and early 90's

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. Birthday Week Favorites

 My birthday was this week and even though we couldn't plan a little weekend getaway with our schedules we still found plenty of ways to make it memorable.  My sister sent me a necklace for my birthday; isn't it pretty? I love that it inadvertently matches the earrings my mother in law bought me when we went to the craft fair at the end of June (as an early birthday gift).   My mother in law also bought me a cute dress, made me a card, and gave me some $ to go shopping. My mother and I went to the Wrentham Outlets to go shopping together for my birthday. We found some really great deals this year and I ended up buying lots of great pieces. I love that all the stores seem to run pretty huge sales/deals after the 4th of July  We ate lunch at Tavern in the Square and I had a delicious chicken & burrata sandwich with arugula and fig jam. We didn't get home until nearly 4 so I didn't eat anything else the rest of the day as it was quite filling.    My husban...

Each year near the end of December/ beginning of January I share the top 10 posts of the year but this year, in particular, I have noticed some much older posts that are still bringing in lots of pageviews and thought it would be fun to look back and see a top 10 list of all time.  I started my blog in June of 2012 and while so many of my first posts were long blocky, chunky rambles without any real photos of us and our family I just can't bring myself to delete any of them as I really do enjoy looking back and seeing how my blog has change and grown over time. Redoing Our Front Walk

Our front walk has settled a bit over the years and, since we built it perfectly level, when the snow melts each winter it floods our front walk. All that water then freezes and we are left with an ice skating rink of a front walk for several months. Ian has been installing patios, walkways, retaining walls and the like for a few years now and decided to take it upon himself to redo our walk and add a bit of a pitch to it so it will (hopefully!) drain into our driveway and then down to the drain in the road.    First we moved the two giant concrete slabs we use for steps and then swept the whole walk off making sure to peel back any grass and dirt that had encroached over the side pieces over the past 20 or so years we've lived here.   Next he began pulling up the patio pavers (with Evan and my husband's help too). We stored them on pallets so we could move them around and reuse them after grading the walk.    Next we added some stone, compacted it, me...
