Cards, paper crafts, and Scrapbook Pages I Made in July 2025

 I had so much fun crafting this month. I  broke out my stencils and tried some new techniques. I ran one through an embossing folder when I finished with the stenciling and I just loved how they turned out.  



I got a new hot foil system for my birthday and worked with foiling a couple of days; the gold foil cards I enjoyed coloring and the rainbow ones are pretty enough to stand out on their own. Though I did try coloring a few of those too!

This card I used alcohol markers and shading.

I also foiled on black paper and colored in with colored pencils.

For this card I used the rainbow foil paper on white.


again, you can see the foil detail so much better when the light hits it.

I made a shaker card using my cricut for the boys' friend's birthday. The card and number and saying were drawn/cut by the machine and then I used acetate to cover the holes and filled them with sequins and beads. Added a foam layer and a backing. So the beads shake and move all around. 




I played around one day with a new sunflowers embossing folder I received and had lots of fun!
 




 
I found a stencil set that I hadn't used before and tried that out to see what it looks like. 

I got all caught up on my scrapbooking with the photos I have in my possession which means it's time to order a new batch of photos! I finished up all 3 winter/early spring "trips" with the boys-- to the aquarium, the orchid/flower show, and from seeing Cirque du Soleil Ovo. And got our girl's trip to Louisville done too. 



I just adore these little green critters/bugs SO much!

    The gold foil looks so cool! You have been a card maker! And, I know supplies cost money but I also think you are saving so much money because cards are so pricey - I mentioned that the other day on my blog! Love!

    So pretty! The technique with the "18" card is so cool! And "alcohol" as an adjective for "markers" cracked me up!! The foil is a creative touch- everything looks so good!

    You have a gift, Joanne! Your cards are truly beautiful. The designs are lovely and all those different techniques. Wow! I often say I'd like to try paper crafts and scrapbooking...maybe someday! In the meantime, I'm gathering ideas from you!

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? Each year near the end of December/ beginning of January I share the top 10 posts of the year but this year, in particular, I have noticed some much older posts that are still bringing in lots of pageviews and thought it would be fun to look back and see a top 10 list of all time.  I started my blog in June of 2012 and while so many of my first posts were long blocky, chunky rambles without any real photos of us and our family I just can't bring myself to delete any of them as I really do enjoy looking back and seeing how my blog has change and grown over time. Things That Make Me Laugh

I loved the challenge of this week's list for our 26 lists link up.  I don't know about you but I really need to laugh more lately.  It's such a great stress reliever. 1.  Books-- I love a good funny book that makes me laugh out loud.  I haven't read one in a while but if you have any recommendations I'm all ears.  The last book I can remember making me laugh was the Un-Honeymooners. 2  The boys being silly. 3.  Watching shows like America's Funniest Videos or Family Feud. 4. My husband.  Most people don't realize it but he's actually pretty funny and often makes me laugh. 5.  Whenever my sisters/ family get together and we get to reminiscing (particularly if my Aunt Elaine is around) we end up laughing so hard at all the old family stories that we are all in tears by the end of the night.  It's fabulous. 6. We had another fabulous summer week and and weekend! We've been hiking, went to an 18th birthday party/cookout, made some new recipes, and picked raspberries and blueberries. We've also had plenty of downtime at home hiding out in the air conditioning on those days the heat and humidity are just too much. Redoing Our Front Walk

Our front walk has settled a bit over the years and, since we built it perfectly level, when the snow melts each winter it floods our front walk. All that water then freezes and we are left with an ice skating rink of a front walk for several months. Ian has been installing patios, walkways, retaining walls and the like for a few years now and decided to take it upon himself to redo our walk and add a bit of a pitch to it so it will (hopefully!) drain into our driveway and then down to the drain in the road.    First we moved the two giant concrete slabs we use for steps and then swept the whole walk off making sure to peel back any grass and dirt that had encroached over the side pieces over the past 20 or so years we've lived here.   Next he began pulling up the patio pavers (with Evan and my husband's help too). We stored them on pallets so we could move them around and reuse them after grading the walk.    Next we added some stone, compacted it, me...
