What's Up Wednesday in June
It's the last Wednesday of the month and that means it's time for What's Up Wednesday. I can't believe our first month of summer is already ending!
What We're Eating: lots of salads and fresh veggies... and lots of ice cream too. Life is all about balance, right?
What I'm Reminiscing About: Nothing at the moment!
What I'm Loving: Our "new" front walk that Ian re-did for us. Based on how well water runs off it when it rains I don't think we'll have much problems with ice this winter. Now we're just waiting on the grass to grow.
What We've Been Up To: We started our month off in Maine at Acadia National Park.
We did lots of hiking around home too.
I went to Newport to meet up with Dara (Not in Jersey blog) and her family. We had such a wonderful afternoon together.
Alec, my mother in law, and I went to check out a local art fair
My husband and I had a lovely date night at Foxwoods; enjoying a delicious dinner at David Burke Prime
What I'm Dreading: Nothing at all right now
What I'm Working On: A lot of reading! I have over a dozen books to try and get through before they are due back at the library so I am reading any spare chance I get.
What I'm Excited About: We've had some really sunny weather finally; I mean I could do with temps in the 80's instead of the upper 90's and even into 100 that we've been having but after so much cold and rainy weather I hesitate to complain.
What I'm Watching/Reading: Tucci in Italy (Hulu), Spy (Hulu), Sirens (Netflix), Death and Other Details (Hulu), You- the Final Season (Netflix), The Residence (Netflix), The Better Sister (Prime), Mistresses (Hulu), and Survival of the Thickest (Netflix)
What I'm Listening to: The washer and dryer going; though it's pretty much always going. That and the dishwasher get very little rest in our house.
What I'm Wearing: I'm still wearing lots of pants and long sleeves but I do break out the shorts and short sleeves anytime it gets warm.
What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month: My birthday! Plus we have a few fun parties planned we're attending.
What Else is New: Nothing much; though I did have to order a new comforter for our bed when our washing machine ate/shredded our old one.

You've had some great activities/adventures this month! So you've gone from cool to really hot? Not fun- but I like all of your outfits, including the first one pictured, a lot. How fun to meet up with Dara! Your new walkway looks really good- I like how wide it is. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteYep and it looks like by the end of the week we should level out with temps in the mid 70's. Those blue linen pants are my absolute favorite this summer.
DeleteLooks like some nice walks, hikes and other activities. How lovely with an art fair! That's what we need these days with all the AI sludge around us! Your new front garden looks good - but I'd love to plant some shrubs there instead of grass!
ReplyDeleteThank you! The art fair was a lot of fun. They had so many high quality looking products for sale. I debated about shrubs along the front walk but we have lots of shrubs and gardens all over and I felt like they'd get destroyed piling snow up on them in the winter when we needed to shovel that front walk.
DeleteYour Acadia trip looked the perfect blend of hikes and delicious food! I am not complaining about the sun and heat at all after all of the monsoons we had- ha!
ReplyDeleteIt really was; though we would have hiked more if Alec hadn't been with us. He likes to hike but not nearly as much as we do. I'm trying real hard not to complain about the heat but I am getting worried about all my guys out working in it all week.
DeleteYou've had a great month! So cool you got to meet another blogger!
ReplyDeleteIt was a lot of fun! Her and her whole family are so nice!
DeleteJoanne, so many family members were in and out last week ... and I've lost count at the number of times we headed out for ice cream! More fruits and veggies are on my radar as things quiet down and we get back to normal ... in a few weeks. Happy Wednesday to you. These are the good old days!
ReplyDeleteThey sure are! I pretty much never say no to ice cream runs in the summer.
DeleteWhat a great month! Thank you so much for coming to Newport to meet me! I had a great time with you there.
ReplyDeleteI really did too; it was definitely a highlight of my month!
DeleteI always enjoy these type of posts, Joanne!! You guys are living life to the fullest and that is so important!! Newport looks so charming!! I have to get out more but the heat of the Summer does a number on me physically...Hopefully, in the Fall...Thanks for stopping by!!

Thank you so much!
DeleteHow fun you got to see Dara! That lobster roll (at least I think there was a roll under there) looks amazing! Ah, I love East Coast lobster.
ReplyDeleteRight?! There was SO much lobster; I think that's why that particular stand is so popular.
DeleteYour salad looks so good and that ice cream too!
ReplyDeleteGood job to Ian with the front walk.
It sounds like a great month, how lovely to meet up with Dara and to visit the art fair.
Thank you!
DeleteHow wonderful that you live so close to absolutely everything! I agree salads + ice cream = balance! Fun to meet Dara! It's always fun to see other bloggers meeting others!

ReplyDeleteWe just love it there.
DeleteLooks like you've been having so many awesome adventures! I actually have a trip for Acadia planned for later this year, so this made me so excited for our trip! I look forward to reading your next post!
ReplyDeleteOh it is such a beautiful area! This was our third year (in a row!) going up to Acadia and we see something new each time.
DeleteI would love a lobster roll right now! Yours looked delicious! I enjoyed seeing all your activities. The art gallery looked wonderful. We enjoyed our stay at Acadia. So glad you got to go.
ReplyDeleteStay cool! It is HOT here in Pennsylvania!
