Talking About it Tuesdays #75

We had some really beautiful weather last week (and some rain too) but it was finally hot and sunny and felt like summer was well on its way. We went strawberry picking and made some homemade jam. We had a quiet weekend with the older two boys working both days. My husband's only real request for father's day was some delicious homemade strawberry shortcake with our freshly picked strawberries and I was happy to comply! How was your week/weekend?

    Our weather was cool/rainy last week. This week is warming up but with rain. I'm not complaining. All the plants/grass/flowers are thriving and lush looking. (I'd feel differently if I had a business that depended on non rainy weather but that isn't the case for me!) I'm sure the strawberry shortcake with fresh berries was good! My husband's favorite dessert is chocolate eclair cake (with graham crackers/pudding/whipped cream/chocolate on top). It's easy to make and the girls make him one on his birthday and Father's Day. Have a great day!

    That strawberry shortcake sounded so perfect for Father's Day! We were away last week so we missed a lot of the nice weather and now it's cool and rainy. I'm ready for sunshine!

    Thank you dear Joanne for featuring my Zandvoort-post. It´s strange that father´s day is celebrated on different times. In Germany they do it earlier. Here in Austria one week earlier than at ours. But I think the same about both celebration days - Mother and Father. They are getting too commercial. I like strawberrys ...maybe will will collect some when the fields are open..

    Fresh strawberries in jam and cake sounds delish! We had ice cream cake, but our strawberries have flowered. If the sun ever decides to come out maybe we'll have some by 4th of July! Haha! Thanks for the party!

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. Things That Make Me Laugh

I loved the challenge of this week's list for our 26 lists link up.  I don't know about you but I really need to laugh more lately.  It's such a great stress reliever. 1.  Books-- I love a good funny book that makes me laugh out loud.  I haven't read one in a while but if you have any recommendations I'm all ears.  The last book I can remember making me laugh was the Un-Honeymooners. 2  The boys being silly. 3.  Watching shows like America's Funniest Videos or Family Feud. 4. My husband.  Most people don't realize it but he's actually pretty funny and often makes me laugh. 5.  Whenever my sisters/ family get together and we get to reminiscing (particularly if my Aunt Elaine is around) we end up laughing so hard at all the old family stories that we are all in tears by the end of the night.  It's fabulous. 6. Movies like Mom's Night Out, Christmas Vacation, and Grown Ups make me laugh out loud. 7.  When my ...

Acadia 2025 Trip Days 4 & 5: Giant Cranberry Island and Heading Back Home

 Our last full day in Acadia and Alec was looking for something different to do that didn't include biking or hiking. We decided to ferry over to Giant Cranberry Island. But first we had breakfast. Daniel prepared a port wine poached pear and shakshuka with a chocolate croissant for our main dish. It was all quite delicious!  Before we went to pick up the ferry, Alec wanted to walk down to check out a local cafe Dora had told us about. He ordered a pastry and an iced matcha latte. He said they were very good but I just loved the decor inside the cafe. They had adorable fake plants and little lights everywhere.  We walked to the ferry dock and found we only had about 20 minutes to wait. I purchased our tickets online and we all boarded the ferry. It's the "off"/shoulder season in Acadia so the ferry only runs every 3 which means we had 3 hours on Giant Cranberry Island.... well 3 hours is about an hour and a half too long.
