How I Did With My Spring Bucket List

Since Friday is the first official day of summer I figured it was time to see how I did with my spring bucket list before I share my summer list next Monday.

1. Enjoy a weekend with the girls in Louisville, KY (and check another state off my list!)-- check! It was such a fun trip.

2. Celebrate Ian's 21st birthday! --Check! We took him to dinner before I left for Kentucky and had a birthday party with the grandparents the weekend after I got back.

3. Take a couple field trips with Evan-- Nope! We finished up school at the end of April and there just wasn't enough time to fit any field trips in.

4. Enjoy a week in Acadia with Alec and my husband-- Check!

 5. Go to the farmer's market-- Nope... BUT they JUST opened last weekend. I always forget how late in spring harvest starts around here so I'll move this to my summer list.

6. Go hiking-- Check! We went on tons of hikes!

7. Try some new salad recipes-- Check!

8. Start eating breakfast &/or lunch outside when it warms up-- check!

9. Finish scrapbooking our Hawaii trip--check!

10. Celebrate several graduations with extended family -- The parties aren't until this coming weekend so I'm moving this one to my summer list.

11. Move Alec home from college- check!

 12. Put out the hummingbird feeder again -check!

13. See another live show--Check!

14. Celebrate mother's day with my mom and mother in law-- Check! We took the whole family out to dinner at Bella's on the Friday before Mother's day (the only day to work schedule-wise for everyone).

15. Break out my real camera at least once a week for some photography fun-- Nope, not every week but I have been using it more.

16. Paint another 2 -3 paintings -- Check! I painted a few scenes from Hawaii

All in all I think I did pretty good despite our somewhat wet and cold spring!

    1. Thanks! I was surprised to find we had time to tackle all this with all the yucky weather we've been having.

  4. Nice job! I love how you got most of these done despite the cold rainy spring we have had! Hope you are able to get to the farmer's market soon, now that it has opened!

    1. Right?! I thought for sure I wasn't going to get much crossed off with the weather working against us.

  5. I think you did really well! I have not gone to a farmer's market yet, either. I did find out they go until October!

    1. Yep, ours run until the end of October with lots and lots of winter squashes and things... though I never think to go that late in the season.

  6. I thought we had til Friday for the official start to summer. I'm giving myself this week : ) I know I missed a couple of things, but it ended up being a very full and busy spring. I will revisit my list next week. I had the Farmer's Market on my list too and will likely extend that into my summer list. My ankle has been a problem so no hiking recently which is depressing, but I see the ortho next week and hopefully will find out what's going on. Also hoping it's not a stress fracture that needs a boot all summer. You managed to have a lot of fun, get some things accomplished, and spend time outdoors which is great. Have a nice day!

    1. Thanks for picking up on that! I originally planned to post this on Friday but Leslie asked us if we wanted to just pick 2 consecutive Mondays... and I forgot to update that first sentence. I fixed it now! I hope you find some non-boot relief for your ankle too. I've got something going on with one of my knees... that was feeling better before Maine and is now hurting again so I'm trying to focus more on hikes that mostly feel like flat(ish) walks in the woods to give it a rest.

  9. What a fantastic recap of your spring! It sounds like you had a truly jam-packed and enjoyable few months, especially with the Louisville trip, Ian's big birthday, and that Acadia adventure.

Looking forward to seeing your summer bucket list next week!

  11. I like that your lists are a mix of fun and easy changes for variety, which is great! For some reason when I make a list it is always chores... I need to take a course on how to build a list like yours!

    1. Ha; I have those lists too but I don't share them. They aren't nearly as much fun.

I like how you're honest that some things don't happen. Farmer's markets are closed in our summer (mostly) and we have them the other 3 seasons...it's so funny how everything is backwards here in AZ.

  19. You really check off a lot of things on your list. I'm impressed! Our Farmer's Markets haven't opened yet due to all the rain. I hope this weekend we can get a break.

    1. According to the webpage they opened June 7th but now that you've mentioned it it has rained every single Saturday so I wonder how that went (we do have a small pavilion they use so there is a roof overhead but the rain would certainly have deterred me).

  20. Wow, I'm impressed by how many you were able to check! Well done. I love the picture of the trail for hiking.

  22. You did really well with your spring bucket list! I too haven't made it to the farmers market yet, I usually go for some rhubarb when the market first opens up but I didn't this year and the rhubarb season is about done now. Looking forward to a summer farmers market trip though!
Love your hummingbird feeder! I still need to get mine out!

    1. Thank you! I am definitely going to be looking for rhubarb; my mom and I have been talking about that lately and I realized I haven't had rhubarb since I was a kid.

  25. You need to put hiking on every season's list because you guys go on the best hikes!! And eating on the patio for all seasons but winter. Glad to see you back out there this spring. I have been following your good lead!!

You did very well on your list. And those things you didn't get to check off your list can be bumped to summer. I bumped almost my whole spring list to summer. Yikes!! I loved reading about your blog friends trip. That looked like grand fun. That new salad looks scrumptious. I have been thinking we really need to eat salad as a main meal for dinner at least once a week. I just need hearty salad ideas.

    1. Fall gets tricky eating outside too as it gets quite windy and cool pretty quick! I am the only one that eats salad as my main meal for dinner but it's a great fall back when I really don't like what's on the menu.

  26. P.S. I love your scrapbook pages. And your painting. I am terrified to try to paint without a pattern or a course or something to copy. Would love to try to watercolor a few of the photos I took in Colorado and have one photo from a beach trip several summers ago that I have wanted to paint. But what if I mess up???

    1. We really did; which is rather funny because living it all I can think is that it's been cold and rainy and rather miserable.. but it hasn't all been that way at all.
