Weigh-In Wednesdays: May 2025
After rejoining Weight Watchers, I knew I wanted to reinstate my Weigh- In Wednesdays posts. On the third Wednesday of every month I'll have a new post/party up for everyone to share workout tips, weight loss thoughts and ideas, and healthy recipes to fuel us on our journey to better health.
I was feeling so smug at the start of the month/end of last month when I returned home from Kentucky to find that I hadn't gained any weight at all! I was pretty surprised by that because as my husband said it seemed like all we did was eat and shop. It really was a delicious and fun trip!
But then that weekend we had a birthday party for Ian and then we had leftover cake for days followed by mother's day weekend the following weekend where we ate so many fattening, sugary, delicious treats yet again.
I don't think I've even opened my Weight Watcher's app this month to track any food! However, even with all that I've only gained 1 pound back so I'm not going to beat myself up over it. I'm slowly weaning myself back off of sugar and throwing in extra hiking/walking and workouts to try and compensate.
Not all my eating has been awful either-- I do pretty well during the week when I'm at home and I did make sure to buy lots of extra fruits and veggies at the grocery store. One of my favorite meals this month has been these snack plate lunches.
I take a variety of fresh fruits and veggies, some hummus and some minimally processed crackers and pile them on a plate. They keep me full until dinnertime.

Those minimally processed crackers look good! I will look into getting some of those. I think one thing to keep in mind is that eating out doesn't have to mean eating poorly or over indulging. For instance in Louisville, at the restaurant we went to Sat. night, the food was delicious but the portions weren't huge. While that wasn't great from a financial bang for our buck, it was good calorically! Special events do make sugar avoiding difficult- from Mother's Day, to birthdays, to graduations- it's a tough season. But making good choices during the week like you're doing is key, I think.
ReplyDeleteVery true! I remember we ate really well on cruise but the portion sizes were perfect and I didn't gain any weight that trip either despite feeling like I was indulging.
DeleteSometimes those snack plates backfire on me and I am like, 'now where is my meal"? We have really been enjoying carrots with hummus - the whole family! I am doing all the lunches this last week for Erica bc she has a lot going on. Monday was a bag of coleslaw, peanut Thai dressing, and chicken. Yum! Tuesday was spinach, cheddar cheese, red onion, bacon, apple, and poppyseed dressing. Today is sub in a tub.
ReplyDeleteIt works for my lunch but snack plates (charcuterie board type things) would never work for me for dinner. All of your lunches sound really good and I am sure that Erica appreciates the help.
DeleteAll the COLORS on the plate - so healthy looking!!! This actually inspires me
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you! I do try hard to "eat a rainbow" most days.
DeleteIntermittent fasting can be a helpful tool.
ReplyDeleteI've heard that but I struggle with eating disorders so IF is not really recommended for me.
DeleteAll the shopping must have outweighed the eating. Your snack plates look good, it is better than keep going in the kitchen and grabbing more and not realizing how much you're eating. I have been in that habit.
ReplyDeleteYes, I try really hard not to just grab a handful here and there. I try to be very mindful of when and what I am eating.
DeleteGood job!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteYou are rocking a healthy lifestyle and doing things the right way- you should be so proud- you look great! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI've been enjoying a few dry roasted peanuts or popcorn in the afternoons. I stocked up on small oranges yesterday at the store. Simple snacks that tide me over until dinner!
ReplyDeleteIf I "need" a snack between meals I reach for some raw mixed nuts or fruit too.
DeleteI'm currently doing a sugar detox and I feel so much better! Love the idea of this healthy snake plate - I'm going to start making one for lunch!
ReplyDeleteJill - Doused in Pink
Glad I could give you an idea!
DeleteOh, sometimes we just need to eat what we want. I did last holiday. But I'm always glad to be back on healthy eating again.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I definitely don't want to think much about my eating when I'm on holiday but I am usually so relieved to get back to our "regular" diet once we're home.
DeleteYour husband's observation was so true. Dine'n'shop describes our trip perfectly. ;)
ReplyDeleteWhen we get out of our routine, it's hard. But life is meant to be enjoyed. I'm so obsessive at times, but in the end we need to have joy, and the weight on the scale really doesn't matter--it's how we feel.
ReplyDeleteXOXO
