Ian's 20th Birthday

 Typically we don't do much to celebrate the boys' birthdays. We invite the grandparents over, let the birthday boy pick out a meal and a dessert and that's about it. But I saw some fun 20th birthday banners and party supplies on Amazon so I decided to go just a bit bigger this year. 

We still only invited grandparents over but I at least decorated the house a bit and we had plates that said "happy 20th birthday." It turned into a whole blue and silver theme... I'm not sure Ian really cared at all but I know he had a good time!




I didn't get any pictures of the food but he requested a very simple meal of grilled burgers served with tater tots.  I rounded out the meal adding in salad and some corn on the cob. 

His cake was chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting and chocolate ganache with mini peanut butter cups around the edge.

He didn't have many gifts to open since he mostly received money and had already gotten (and put together) his gift from us.




His gift from us was a new crafting desk (he's still organizing everything) but loves that he has so much more space now that he can store most of his paints and supplies in the drawers.

    What a great gift- I didn´t realize that he was an artist, too. What a view to help with inspiration! The birthday decorations are festive- it sounds like he had a really good birthday!

      He paints/builds model cars and makes whole model scenery sets.

    Happy 20th Birthday to Ian!! the blue banners look fantastic and the cake looks delicious! I'm sure he loved his birthday gifts. Oh, and what an amazing view he has from his new desk!!!

Favorite TV Shows Growing Up in the 80's and early 90's

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. 10 on the 10th: 10 Things I May do in May

 It's time for the 10 on the 10th link up with Marsha and this month she's asked us to list 10 things we can and/or may do in May. 5 Things I CAN do now that it's May: 1. May is typically the time of year we CAN begin planting flowers and getting pots ready. I'm holding off until Memorial day weekend just in case we still have some cold frost-filled nights.  2. We CAN (sometimes!) eat outside now that May has arrived. We MAY have done that earlier this week for an early Mother's day lunch with my mom. And, no we did not plan our matching pink outfits. 3. I CAN finally enjoy some flowers blooming around the yard! (these are the only 3 plants blooming right now but I see buds and greenery on all the others too). 4. Some of My Favorite Shows and Movies I've Been Watching

A couple of times now I've tried to get into the habit of sharing a bit more regularly what we've been watching. I don't know about you but I often struggle with what to watch when one show ends... I try many shows and often get just an episode or a season in before I end up giving up on it.  Most of the shows we stream are NOT new shows. I tend to look for shows that have multiple seasons already lined up so once I get invested in the characters and storylines I don't have to wait around for new episodes to come out (but there are some shows we do watch as they air).  There have been a few shows we've really enjoyed lately. Royal Pains is our latest show we're watching and while we're only 1/2 way through season 2 I am really enjoying it:  Hank is a doctor that has retreated to the Hamptons to lick his wounds after losing his job, his fiancée, and most of his belongings. While there he gets hired on as a concierge doctor to the rich; a job he very reluctant
